Very nice 1969 Corvette 427 Roadster rare factory big block roadster from California. Probably the nicest color combo ever made with the white vinyl soft top and Monza red removable hardtop. This car was sold at many high end auctions in the past 20 years as an original 427/435 L89 car. Monterey 2002, Barrett Jackson 2005, Mecum 2008.

I have an appraisal from an award winning Senior master judge with credentials a page long for 179,000.00 as a number 1- condition out of 6. Stating his findings its an original 427/435 L89 optioned documented car.

The 1969 Corvette 427 Roadster was restored in 1993 I am not sure what was all done at that time but that is the info I got off Barret Jackson ad when they sold it. Ad listed below and you can find this ad online.
This 1969 Corvette L89 427/435 has the correct big block (casting#3963512) aluminum heads, brand new correct side exhaust pipes. It was restored in 1993 and finished in the correct Monza Red. It has the correct 6500 RPM Red line Tach only available on the L88 and L89. It also has the big tube axels and half shafts big block L88 and L89 options. The present owner purchased this car at the Monterey Sports Car Auction in 2002. This car is fitted with a matching hardtop, a rare option, 4-speed M21 close ration transmission.
Engine casting date falls perfectly into the build date K4 9 HI PERF cast on block..Build Date P21 very late build date.
The 1969 Corvette 427 Roadster comes with the legendary 3946074 L88, L89, ZL1 aluminum open chamber heads a lot better head than the early 842 aluminum heads. The early aluminum 842 heads were junk the rocker mounts broke off.
There are many different pictures and articles online of the 842 rocker mount (boss) that broke off and welded back on. This is why they went obsolete.

The 074 heads were a factory replacement or warrantied part for the damaged 842 heads. The dealer did not want to put the 842 heads back on these cars so this was a great option since it did so well after serial number 22000. The very late cars also had dual fuel lines this car has it. The early cars had single line this was very bad things had to change. When the early cars got hot they overheated and vapor locked.
When it vapor locked it would boil the fuel in the carburetor. The car would either start on fire from the fuel spewing out of the carburetor. Or it would flood the car so bad it wouldn’t start. Big block cars with Holly carbs and Rochester carbs both had this problem and L88 4 speed cars were the worst for this issue they had no fan shroud so they got crazy hot. So they put dual fuel lines on these cars around serial number 35000 to 36000 to prevent this from happening the second line was a fuel return line. All very late 69 big block cars had this even 1970 LS6 Chevelles and ZR2’s had this. I know of many LS6 Chevelles and Corvettes and a handful of very late 69 Corvettes 427/435 big block cars with the dual fuel lines.

The 074 heads have bigger valves open chamber stronger casted rocker mounts and only available after serial number 22000 .

M.F. Dobbins is an NCRS Bloomington Gold Hall of Fame Inductee.
He also stated 427/435 L71 motors using these 074 heads that they were producing an incredible 460 horse vs 435 horse of the cast iron 840 and 842 heads.

The car has dealer installed leather seats trim tag shows vinyl.

Summary:

Many reputable Corvette enthusiast over the years said the paperwork is legit including the appraiser of this car.
NCRS said they could not validate the paperwork due to inconsistencies. I was told they have nothing to compare it to around the build date of this car. This car has a very very late build date P21.

Back In 2005 in Barret Jackson ad it says this car had the Muncie M21 close ratio trans in the car..please see ad above.
Now in the car is a Muncie M20 wide ratio trans with a 2.56:1 first gear not an M21 close ratio . Someone stamped the vin on this M20 wide ratio trans.
The appraiser does mention in the appraisal that the transmission is incorrect vs the paperwork.

The highly credited senior master judge says its an original L89 optioned car with its original paperwork. It is very beautiful old vette with many very rare parts. The value of an all original 427/435 L89 convertible side pipe car in concourse condition with these options on Hagerty says 239,000.00 value when adding the extra options.
