Heart Pumping Restomod

1955 Chevy Bel Air Custom

If you were watching the Barrett-Jackson Auction last month, you might still be wondering what all the fuss is about with these custom built restomods. Why are all the youngsters paying huge six figure prices for these olds rides? Well, we thought you might want to get in one and take a ride. Click here to do a virtual test drive of a ’55 Chevy Restomod. (Oh, and crank up the audio to get the full impact!)

That’ll get yer heart pumpin a bit, ain-ah? A Tri-Five that makes you know your alive! That dry-sump LS7 is a beast! Combine it with a Tremec T-56 Magnum 6-speed manual transmission and you can achieve automotive nirvana. This 1955 Chevy Bel Air Custom Restomod is being offered for sale at No Reserve Classics in Green Brook, New Jersey. They specialize in pro touring, restomod builds. This one is a high octane work of art. The iconic look of the ’55 Chevy is instantly recognizable, but it is a hint lower and meaner looking with a pro touring attitude and performance.

The drivetrain is completed by a Quick Performance 9-inch rear differential with 3.89 gears, an Eaton Wavetrac differential, and 35-spline hardened axles, all connected by a custom 3.5-inch driveshaft with 1350-series U-joints and billet yokes. Handling is transformed through Global West front tubular arms with Del-A-Lum bushings, a Global West front sway bar, Heidts 2-inch drop spindles, and a Saginaw 605 steering box conversion. Viking double-adjustable Warrior shocks at all four corners allow precise tuning, while the rear features a Chris Alston’s 36-inch 4 Link pro ladder bar setup and custom mounting for maximum stability and traction. The result is a Tri-Five that drives with modern confidence, precision, and authority.

This is a classic Chevy Bel Air modernized for impressive performance and road handling ability. It blends classic design and modern aesthetics for a unique driving experience. It also brings performance to a new level. That’s what is happening in the car hobby today.

Classic Car News This Week

GAA Classic Winter Auction

We are here at the GAA Classic Winter Auction 2026 reporting to you from Greensboro, North Carolina. The auction started on Thursday and will run through Saturday, February 21, 2026. Our photo journalist, Bob Boberg of eClassicAutos.com will be bringing you photos and video of the auction action for the next few days. He said the Thursday sale had a huge crowd of onsite bidders, the most he’s ever seen here at The Auto Palace in Greensboro. That doesn’t surprise us, since this year’s auction has the best selection of muscle cars we have ever seen here. A good portion of them are being offered at No Reserve. They are liquidating some high quality collections this weekend. For instance, this Competition Orange 1970 Mercury Cougar Eliminator 428 Super Cobra Jet will cross the auction block on Saturday at No Reserve. It is from the Chris Agee Collection. He says it is still a “nearly brand new car.” Our newsletter readers may watch the auction with us on YouTube on Saturday. We will have an Auction Watching party on our Facebook page. Click here to read our auction report, including prices.

How To Buy A Car Online

People always ask us how to buy a car on the internet. It is still a mystery to some collectors who are used to the “old school” way of buying cars, i.e. traveling to inspect it themselves, taking cash with them putting them at risk. In the modern day world time is more valuable than money. Almost all internet sales these days involve making a deal with the seller, paying with a money transfer and then having the car or truck delivered to your door by a transport company.

We always tell buyers they need to concentrate on two things when buying a car online.
1. Have the car inspected before you buy.
2. Use a Bill of Sale to document the purchase.

To help buyers with the first item on our “Must Do” list, we have created the Cars-On-Line Inspection Service with a network of inspectors all over the U.S. and Canada. You can read our inspection sample reports on the COL Inspection Referral Service page on our website. For example, you will see this report that was done on a 1970 Pontiac Trans Am. An Indiana man had been wanting a ’70 Trans Am all his life. When he spotted one for sale in Iowa he ordered an inspection report through our service. He wanted us to help him verify if it could be original to the factory build, and he was worried about the body, bondo, suspension issues, etc. You can read the report here. For the most part this car was a strong runner and in better shape than most of the cars we are asked to look at. Our report calmed his concerns and verified that this car was worth his time to further research. After all, it is your hard earned money that is at risk.

For more information on internet purchases, click here to read our archive reports about “How To Buy A Car Online.”

Canadian Beaumont = “Chevelle SS”

Back in the 1960’s our neighbor Canada had high tariffs imposed on U.S. auto manufacturers to keep them from exporting certain vehicles into Canada. GM, Ford and Chrysler built plants in Canada to produce Canadian versions of their popular makes and models with Canadian branding. For example, GM built a duplicate of the Chevelle SS with the exact same Chevelle chassis, but under the Pontiac brand with Pontiac styling in the grille, taillights and badging. Pontiac called their Canadian version of the Chevelle the Beaumont. This week a 1966 Pontiac Beaumont Super Deluxe was listed for sale by Haggle Me, an internet broker. That is why you’ll find this Pontiac in the Chevelle Section of our website today. The Super Deluxe was a designation similar to Chevelle’s Super Sport or SS model. They say it has a rebuilt 396 big block engine rated at 375 horsepower. They say it comes with “lots of paperwork,” and that it drives and handles as a Chevelle should.

1951 Porsche 356 Pre-A

When a 1951 Porsche 356 SL won its class at the 24-Hours of Lemans, it gave the fledgling automotive company its first notariety. The rest is history. Those first “steel bodied” Porsches are known as “Pre-A” 356 cars. Only a few hundred were built during the first year’s Porsche moved to Stuttgart in Germany. They are some of the most valuable early Porsches to collect. This week Gullwing Motor Cars out of New York surprised us when they listed a rare 1951 Porsche 356 Pre-A Cabriolet for sale. Furthermore, this is a Reuter bodied Cabriolet. Only 156 of those were produced. It is a very early production example featuring a split windscreen and body-to-bumper styling. It is finished in the original color Pascha Red with a tan cloth top, boot cover, and tan interior. The 1,286 cc OHV air-cooled engine is a horizontally opposed 4 cylinder with dual carburetors. It came with independent front suspension, independent front suspension and tubular shock absorbers. This renaissance icon should be in a museum. But what if it were in your collection instead?

1971 Chevy Blazer Restomod

You could say this is the theme of this week’s newsletter … exploring classic restomods. There is nothing hotter in today’s collector car market than custom Ford Broncos and Chevy Blazers. The restomod Sport Utilities are amazing. Here is a 1971 Chevy Blazer Restomod Custom which was just listed for sale at Collectible Motorcar of Atlanta this week. They combined a ’67 front valance with a ’71 body and chassis. The restoration is really excellent. The effect is stunning. Click the video window above to listen as Chris inspects this classic custom Blazer. It is an LS 5.3L swap on a frame-off restoration. The paintwork and bodywork looks real nice on this one. From the Ridler wheels to the LED taillights it looks real nice. Chris gives you a look at the clean and simple engine bay. Then he takes you on a test drive. Although you might think it is in show quality condition from the way it looks, you will find that it drives and handles like a driver.

1964 Galaxie Convertible

A private party seller from Pennsylvania has a very special muscle car era collector car he now must sell. This 1964 Ford Galaxie 500XL Convertible is a special find. It has the 390 ci V8 with an automatic transmission with a floor mounted shift. This one should inspect out as a top quality survivor if you want to have it inspected. Project Vehicles for Restoration

1926 Buick Sedan

The Cars-On-Line Project Car Section is the most popular listing page on our website. Not only can you find bargain priced cars there, but, if you buy right, you can make money restoring these classic treasures. This week a 1926 Buick Sedan was listed for sale by Haggle Me, an internet broker that handles internet advertising for its Baby Boomer clients. It is a rare original blue colored sedan with what they refer to as “a good body and interior.” Although they can turn the engine over, the car is currently not road worthy. In their words, It “should be an easy fix.” It has the Master 6 engine and a 3-speed manual transmission. Just out of long-term ownership, it is barn fresh and ready for some restoration fun.

The following are just some of the cars available in the Project Car Section this week:

1972 Riviera Boattail

Buick redesigned their popular Riviera model in 1971, with GM design chief Bill Mitchell initiating the Riviera Boattail look and stance. GM’s E-Body had a longer, sweeping fastback roofline showing sports car aesthetics while benefiting from luxurious creature comforts inside. Here is a great example, a 1972 Buick Riviera Boattail in Deep Chestnut metallic finish with a throaty 455 ci V8. This one has a rare ¾ Landau roof. They say it is in “near mint” condition. The private party Canadian seller was asking $71,556 in U.S. currency. But just this week he dropped the price to $43,810 (U.S. currency value at the time of this publication.)

Muscle Car Clones

Bullitt Look-A-Like

A Highland Green 1968 Mustang Fastback with S Code 390 big block engine looks “better” than the one from the Bullitt movie. This one has been rotisserie restored with no expense spared. The 390 has a Holley 4-barrel carburetor, and the transmission is updated to a Tremec 5-speed with a factory style posi rear end. It has power brakes, power steering, a new gas tank, factory style all new suspension and new exhaust. The floor boards are even painted with original looking oxide. The interior has been restored to show quality just the way the exterior has been. Click here to see a walk-around video and hear it run.

Deals of the Day

1971 Monte Carlo 454

Any one who wants a first generation Chevrolet Monte Carlo dreams of finding one with the legendary 454 big block motor. A GM Tech Center employee found this 1971 Chevrolet Monte Carlo and has always planned to take it to the next level. Under the hood is a strong NOM 454 ci big block stamped RJ fed by a Holley “blue pump.” It is mated to a 700R4 overdrive transmission and puts power to the ground through a “stout 12-bolt rear axle with 3.73 gearing …” They say it runs and drives well, even though it needs restoration to make it show quality. The cowl tag says this car came from the factory “black/black.” It came with air conditioning although the system is currently disconnected. Click here to watch a walk-around video. The current seller thinks it might have been an SS. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. The asking price is only $15,750. Do you have the phone in hand yet? Call now.

1935 Packard 120 Touring

The big comfortable interior of a Packard motorcar is like traveling in your living room. A 1935 Packard 120 Touring car was listed for sale by the Classic Auto Mall this week. It is a great example of the luxury transportation of a bygone era. It cruises under the power of a big eight cylinder engine. It still uses the 6-volt electical system of the era. You can see from the photos that the Algiers Blue exterior presents well and strikes a stately pose. It remains original showing 46k miles on the odometer (actual miles are unknown.) It should be noted that the paint shows imperfections that may not show up in the pictures. You may want to have a pre-purchase inspection performed prior to purchase. The art deco styled interior is classic in design, however has not been restored, with bench seats showing a few tiny tears and round holes. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. The asking price is only $18,000. Hurry!

1968 Dodge Dart GT Convt

Remember the bullet proof Slant 6 engine that Mopar put in the ‘60s Dodge Darts? Well, here is a 1968 Dodge Dart GT Convertible with the reliable Slant 6 engine. It is being offered for sale by Primo Classics International in Lakeland, Florida. They say it has been restored and comes with an automatic transmission, power convertible top with a parade boot, power steering, power brakes and sport wheels. Most important … they say it drives “amazing.” Take a look at the photos on the ad page at the link. This is the way you would like your driver class car to look. It has a clean engine bay, trunk and interior. You might note some warping in the door panels and wear on the dash, but even that is very slight. Have it inspected before you buy to ease any suspicions. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. Their asking price is $24,900.

1930 Ford Model A

Model A Coupes are traditionally valued between $15,000 and $25,000 these days when they are in good driver quality condition. Here is a 1930 Ford Model A Coupe being offered for sale through Haggle Me, an internet broker that specializes in helping internet challenged Baby Boomers to get their collector vehicles advertised online. Authenticity matters when selling these original Rumble Seat coupes. They say this one may be a 2-owner car which last changed hands in 1966. They state that it is a “very original car” that “runs and drives great.” Be sure to have it inspected before you buy. The photos give you what we might call a 10-footer view. The under carriage looks pretty clean although this is obviously a “driver quality” car (not a show car.) The upholstery looks good in the photos, both the seats and rumble seat. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday next week. Their asking price is $15,900.

1979 Chrysler 300

Chrysler broke with the times when they came out with a “new” letter car model in 1979. The 1979 Chrysler 300 was introduced with a big body luxury car size and performance based 360 ci V8 engine. It was like a modern day muscle car with heavy duty suspension, bigger brakes and a heavy duty transmission. This week a private party seller from Michigan dropped the price on his beautiful 1979 Chrysler 300 2-Door Hardtop. He says it still has just 32,000 original miles with all original paint, drivetrain and sheet metal. If there ever was a car that collectors would appreciate it is this one. He says it runs and drives “great.” It has an AM/FM with 8 track player, air conditioning, cruise control tilt wheel and brand new tires. Take a look at the photos. The engine bay and interior look real clean. These cars only came in one color, Spinnaker White with a red leather interior. Only 3,811 300’s were built for ’79. It was a one-year-only model never to be repeated again. One might say it was “born to be collectible.” It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Wednesday next week. He is only asking $16,000.

1986 Pontiac Fiero GT

In 1986 Pontiac upped its game with its economy oriented little two-seater sports car. They made the Fiero a true GT sports car with performance and handling upgrades. Pontiac envisioned the GT as a “baby Ferrari.” Although it may not have achieved that status, the GT moved from the earlier notchback look to a streamlined fastback look with aerodynamics. This 1986 Pontiac Fiero GT was just posted for sale by Connors Motorcar Company in W. Chester, Pennsylvania. It not only comes with the 2.8 liter V6 engine (new for that year), but it is said to have just 13,000 miles from new. It still has its stunning Bright Red paint and a rear wing. With an automatic transmission, cold air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, cruise control and a clear sunroof, it is turnkey ready to enjoy for the spring season coming up. They say it runs and drives real nice, and it comes with a clean Carfax. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. Their asking price is $19,500.

Mercury Marquis Hearse

Oh, is it tempting to pun out on this one … The Classic Auto Mall just posted a 1988 Mercury Grand Marquis Hearse for sale. It was custom manufactured by Eagle Coach. They say it has only 63,285 actual miles, and it spent most of its life in the high desert of Oregon, so the rust free sheet metal is intact. There are some imperfections, like missing trim and side moldings and chips in the paint. The velour interior in the driver compartment is a little worn, but the wood trim and floor in the back is “to die for” … (oops! I couldn’t help myself. I’m dead serious.) Check to see if it is “Formaldehyde injected.” Anyway, it will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. The asking price is only $12,000. Think of the fun you could have. You could order specialty plates at your DMV, i.e. “Ghost Rider” or “ByeBye.” Pull into a McDonald’s and watch people stop eating mid-bite. Please, some stop me!

Often there are more cars that deserve to be in the DEAL of the DAY than we can schedule for our front page feature. Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for the DEAL of the DAY this week. Remember, you saw them here first:
