Big Block Unicorn
In the collector car market today there are some classic muscle cars which may be considered rare. Then there are the kind that are so rare they are “unicorn” rare, almost never seen. That is what we have here today in the COL newsletter.
A new arrival hit the New Listings Page of the Cars-On-Line.com website two days ago. It is a rare one indeed. Verrillo Motor Car Company out of Clifton Park, New York posted a 1970 Chevelle LS6 454 Convertible. The 450 horsepower Super Sport Chevelle is one of the rarest muscle cars ever produced. In fact there is somewhat of a mystery surrounding just how many came from the factory in 1970, the only year they were produced. For many years there was a rumor going around that Chevrolet had only produced 17 of these convertible Monster Big Block Chevelles. It was later debunked by Chevelle historians who think that there were more like 100 of them actually built. However, the exact number will never be known because Chevrolet never recorded the number of LS6 Chevelle convertibles that received the 454/450 hp big block motor. We have seen 27 of them come up for sale over the years. This much we do know. Only about one or two come up for sale every year on the Cars-On-Line website. This is one of them.
The listing is so fresh for Verrillo Motor Car Company that they as yet do not have the documentation listed on their ad page. They do say that this Astro Blue ’70 LS6 Chevelle convertible has a numbers matching engine and some components. You can look through dozens of detailed photos on their ad page. It is the product of a frame-off rotisserie restoration. The undercarriage is so clean you could eat off of it. The detailing is extraordinary. It has the cowl induction hood and M-22 Muncie Rock Crusher 4-speed transmission. The 3.31 Positraction rear end has a 12-bolt pumpkin.
We will be watching for more documentation as it becomes available during the upcoming week.

Classic Car News This Week
Hennessey F5 EVO Update
When Hennessey, a Texas based aftermarket company that tunes and modifies performance vehicles, rolled out its Venom F5 Revolution LT at The Quail (exclusive car show for high end vehicles) during Monterey Car Week, they were exposing the sports car community to the first 2,031 horsepower “land rockets” to roam planet earth. The bad news is that every Venom F5 EVO they produced is already spoken for. Yes, they are sold out! The good news is that their Evolution package is available on existing Venom F5’s as an upgrade. For sports car purists who want to experience 300 miles per hour, this is great news. John Hennessey just released this video in which he shares his thoughts on the development of the EVO Package with purpose-built aerodynamics and engineering that pushes the boundaries of hypercar performance. Click here to watch the EVO video. Where’s the Dramamine?
SEMA Show 2025
The big SEMA Show 2025 is happening next week in Las Vegas, November 4-7, 2025. This is the convention for the Specialty Equipment Market Association, or, in other words, the automotive aftermarket products industry. The organization represents manufacturers, resellers, builders and enthusiasts/collectors who use aftermarket products to upgrade, restore or build their vehicles. Normally the show is open only to professional tradesmen, but this Friday it will be open to the general public. There is no other show quite like it. You can see thousands of product innovations at this event. If it is new, it will be here. You will find out about the latest custom vehicle trends, new paint techniques, new tools of the trade and much more. Professionals will get access to educational opportunities and career-changing contacts. Click here to find out more.
You will find exciting automotive events like this one every month by bookmarking the Cars-On-Line Car Show Calendar. Check the calendar for upcoming car shows, auctions and swap meets. The top shows in the country are included in our listings every month.
This Weeks Featured Stories
1927 Ford Roadster
Inspired by the innovations of Chip Foose, an Ontario native decided to redo his 1927 Ford Roadster around the theme of a salt-flat racer. Upgrading to a body kit by Zipper Motors, he added a ’46 Ford pickup rear end suspended in place by wishbones and Zipper Motors springs and friction shocks. The hot rod racer has a Ford 32B motor with down draft carburetors mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission. A hot rodder from Ohio now has it for sale in our Street Rod Section today. He says it was featured at the Detroit Autorama and in Motor Trend magazine. Hot Rod Magazine did a similar feature story on it. He says the car is “super nice” and says the new owner will be proud.
The First SuperCar Exotic
Whenever I hear the term “exotic car” I always think back to the first time I saw a Lamborghini Countach. It still is the quintessential example of “exotic” to me. This week Gullwing Motor Cars in New York listed a red 1988 Lamborghini Countach 5000 Quattrovalvole with a tan leather interior. It is one of just 600 QV’s ever produced, and it still has only 17k miles on the odometer. Note the iconic gold OZ wheels. Gullwing tells us it runs and drives excellent, and has receipts showing a full recommissioning, including engine and gearbox. Because it was in the careful ownership of the same collector for the past 30 years, it remains in highly original condition.
Super Duty Trans Am
You don’t see these everyday. Unique Classic Cars in Mankato, Minnesota just got in a 1974 Pontiac Trans Am Super Duty SD-455. It just arrived and they do not have a video of it on their site yet. Look for it next week if it lasts that long. The SD-455 Super Duty Trans Am will be remembered as the last of the great American muscle cars. Pontiac made the Super Duty Trans Am in 1973 and 1974. They figure only 943 were produced in 1974. The amazing SD-455 engine that roars under the hood of this Super Duty Trans Am was a modern era high performance gem the likes of which Detroit had not seen before. Even though it had restricted horsepower and a mild cam, the single Quadrajet Rochester carburetor provided enough power to blow away most of the earlier cars in the muscle car era.
Auctions

Now we are only a week away from one of the biggest events of the fall auction season. The GAA Fall Classic Auction will be held in Greensboro, North Carolina next weekend, November 6-8, 2025. Over 750 vehicles are set to cross the auction block. We consider this auction to be the best barometer of what prices should be on top end collector cars. Classic car dealers from throughout the Southeastern U.S. will be on hand to buy special cars for their inventories. And countless more from all over the country will be buying online or over the phone. Here are some of the cars we will be watching next week.
1969 Camaro Z/28
You won’t find another original survivor 1969 Camaro Z/28 like this one anywhere. It had only one owner in California until the owner passed away in 2016. Then it was brought to the East Coast in order to rebuild the original numbers matching engine and get it in sound running and driving condition. It has the Muncie 4-speed transmission and original Rosewood steering wheel. When it arrived in Georgia it had only 4,900 miles on the odometer. The photos on the ad page show the Lemans Blue Z/28 as it is today with correct dual exhaust pipes and cross flow mufflers. The car remains unrestored and original. It will be sold on Saturday, November 8 when will cross the auction block at the Fall GAA Classic Auction in Greensboro.
1945 Chevrolet Pickup
We think this is the most interesting truck scheduled to cross the auction block at the Fall GAA Classic Auction in Greensboro next weekend. This is a rare 1945 Chevrolet AK Series Pickup to be sold as part of the Wilkerson No Reserve Collection during the GAA Classic. Because automotive production was halted from 1942 to 1945, the only way a civilian could buy a light duty pickup like this one was with authorization of the Department of Defense. Only 6,000 were produced for civilian use. The Brewster Green and Black body complements the brown interior and wood bed. It has outside drivers mirrors, fog lights and a Deluxe Chevrolet heater. It will be offered at No Reserve on Saturday at the Auto Palace in Greensboro.
1952 Kaiser Traveler
Arguably one of the most interesting cars to be offered for sale at the upcoming Fall GAA Classic Auction is this 1952 Kaiser Virginian Traveler. The Virginian Traveler was a full 210 inches long in Deluxe trim. Instead of a trunk, the 4-door sedan had an innovative back lift gate and drop gate turning it into a virtual station wagon. It was the design of Howard “Dutch” Darrin while he was working for Kaiser. The interior is what Kaiser called Dynosaur Vinyl. It also has Child Safety Door Locks, a very rare feature for 1952. It has the 226 ci Flat 6 motor and automatic transmission. They say it has been restored and serviced. It will be sold on Friday, November 7 at No Reserve as part of the Ohio Collection.
And there are many more collector cars and trucks to be offered at this year’s Fall GAA Classic Auction in Greensboro. Click here to view some of the top cars already on the docket as advertised here on the Cars-On-Line.com dealer network.
Collector Cars with Low Miles
1994 Trans Am Anniversary
When the 25th Anniversary Edition Trans Am first came out for 1994 everybody knew this was going to be a highly sought after collector model. The car had a paint scheme that reminded everyone of the first year ’69 Trans Am in its Cameo White paint with blue racing stripes. So a lot of these cars remain with low miles today. That’s the case with this 1994 Pontiac Trans Am 25th Anniversary just listed for sale at North Shore Classics in Mundelein, Illinois. They say it still has only 10k original miles. It is a two-owner car that came from the factory with T-Tops and a 4-speed automatic transmission. Fully documented, it has a clean Carfax.
Here are more recent Low Miles additions:
1986 Lincoln Town Car, Carroll Street Auto, NH, shows 29,943 miles
1968 Chevrolet K20 Pickup, Unique Classic Cars, MI, 10,922 actual miles
2004 Mercury Marauder, North Shore Classics, IL, 29,000 original miles
2002 Corvette, Carroll Street Auto, NH, 9,553 original miles
2008 Porsche Boxster, Sovereign Auto Group, MI, 32,000 miles
You’ll find these and hundreds more in our Low Miles Section online now.
Project Vehicles for Restoration
1971 AMC Hornet SC360
American Motors was all about putting big engines in their compact cars, creating their own “junior muscle car” inventory. This 1971 AMC Hornet SC360 was a prime example. This one is a great opportunity for a collector to show his skill at bringing it back to its former glory. It has the Go Package type 4-barrel carburetor to feed the 360 ci V8. The original car would have had great performance, handling and was the perfect “sleeper.” The private party seller from Illinois says it runs and drives “great.” He says you are seeing it in its original paint. You can check the numbers in the Slide Show photos. This one is worth the effort to restore and preserve.
The following are just some of the cars available in the Project Car Section this week:
1969 Mercury Cougar from Amelia, OH
1971 Jaguar XKE Series III, Gullwing Motor Cars, NY

1940 Ford Sedan Deluxe
A 1940 Ford Deluxe was posted for sale on the Cars-On-Line website by a private party seller from Santa Barbara, California. He says this is an excellent ride and comes with a big block 454 under the hood. The TH400 automatic transmission makes it an easy car to drive. The seller says there is no rust. It has air conditioning, power windows, power steering, dual exhaust and bucket seats. He calls it a “nice driver.” Originally he was asking $29,000 to begin with. But just this week he dropped the price to $20,000. Hurry on this one!

1970 Hemi Cuda Convertible
A Mopar collector from North Carolina has listed his 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible clone for sale this week. Although born with a 340 ci V8, it now has a 426 Hemi engine. He says the frame is a K frame and the transmission is a Hemi 4-speed with Dana 60 rear. In Plum Crazy Purple it comes with power steering, power front disc brakes, power top and even an 8-track. He says this car is the product of a full rotisserie restoration. Read more on the ad page.

Deals of the Day
1993 Pontiac Firehawk
When the Firehawk design was first introduced by SLP, Pontiac only had it on the Firebird Formula models. Here is a 1993 Pontiac Firebird Firehawk just listed for sale at the Classic Auto Mall in Pennsylvania. It is one of just 201 Firehawks produced in 1993, and one of only 61 produced in Bright Red with an automatic transmission. The LT1 5.7 liter V8 puts out 300 horsepower with the big air intake. It translates power to the 4L80E transmission pulling a 10-bolt Positraction rear axle. The Classic Auto Mall people tell us it needs a little TLC, but it drives out nice. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. Their asking price is only $19,500.
1951 Ford Custom Deluxe
A 1951 Ford Custom Deluxe is being offered for sale by a Colorado collector. It is on consignment with Classic Car Deals out of Michigan. They specialize in helping us Baby Boomers sell cars on the internet. They tell us this original classic is a 4-door sedan with a Flathead V8 and 3-on-a-tree manual transmission. They call it a “beautiful driver.” It has been upgraded with an electric fuel pump for reliable starting. And they note that it has new brakes and master cylinder, newer paint that presents well, but an interior that is mostly original. They say some extra parts and original components are available with the sale. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. They are asking $16,295.
1971 Opel GT
The Opel GT was commonly known as the “Baby Corvette” back in the day. It has distinctive early 1970’s sports car design and features. They produced this car from 1968 untill 1973. You could buy them from your Buick dealer. The pop-up headlights are manually operated. This 1971 Opel GT has been listed for sale this week at Unique Classic Cars in Mankato, Minnesota. It is powered by a 1.9L inline 4-cylinder engine with a 4-speed manual transmission. Unique Classic Cars tells us it needs some mechanical attention such as muffler work, headlight re-wiring and gauges. The blower motor, speedometer and stereo do not work. But they say the car idles smoothly and and drives out well with responsive steering. You might want to have it inspected to find out more. But hurry. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. The asking price is $10,900.
1973 Cadillac Sedan DeVille
Cadillacs with low miles are like money in the bank. Here is a 1973 Cadillac Sedan DeVille which was just listed for sale by Classic & Collectible Cars of Las Vegas. It has the big 472 ci V8 engine and an automatic transmission. It is really loaded up with options, including power steering, power disc brakes, air conditioning, power windows, power locks, power seat, tilt/telescopic steering wheel, vinyl top, AM/FM with power antenna, and bumper guards. But the true highlight of this car are the miles. They say it has only 29,000 original miles. It is a one owner car with documentation. They tell us it runs and drives “beautifully.” The paint is mostly original and the interior is well preserved. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday next week. Their asking price is $17,995.
1976 Mercedes-Benz 450SL
This Colorado Beige color was very popular back in the 1970’s. This is a 1976 Mercedes-Benz 450Sl Convertible, the choice of the Yuppy class that year. Young executives always wanted to have one of these parked in their driveway. This car came from California and is being offered for sale this week by Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles. It has a V8 engine, automatic transmission, power steering, four-wheel disc brakes, dual exhaust, VDO instruments, and Bosch fog lights. The color-matched hubcaps sport the Mercedes logo. Options include air conditioning, cruise control, Becker Mexico cassette stereo, adjustable bucket seats and sun visors. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Wednesday next week. The asking price is $10,750.
1978 MGB Convertible
You might be hard pressed to tell this little sports car’s age from the way the exterior looks, says the sales team at Streetside Classics in Phoenix. The 1978 MGB Convertible looks so good in these photos. When you get up close, however, you may notice a bit of wear on the interior. If you want to have a collector car you can drive, then Streetside Classics says this is the one you want to check out. They say the 1798 cc inline 4 cylinder is in fine form. The 4-speed manual transmission also shifts smoothly. The car has front disc brakes which are power assisted. They say the gauges work well. There is a canvas top beneath the tonneau cover, and it rides on 14” Rostyle wheels. You may have it inspected before you buy. However, you may need to move fast. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. Their asking price is only $13,995.
1982 Chevy Monte Carlo
Chevrolet made great use of the Monte Carlo brand. It started out as a “muscle car” for the young executive back in the day. By the 1980’s it still had that “muscle car” appeal and remained very popular among people who liked a big full sized American car. So this week the Classic Auto Mall listed a 1982 Chevy Monte Carlo for sale that breaks the mold. A power bulge hood, rear spoiler and fat rear tires provide a hint of pro street styling, while the blacked out quarter windows and blacked out grille add to the aggressive stance. Under the hood is a clean 350 ci V8 bored to .030 with a Crane high lift cam, Brodix aluminum heads, fully girdled valvetrain, and a Holley 650 cfm 4-barrel carburetor with Edelbrock Victor Jr intake. This is not your Grandpa’s Monte Carlo. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week if it lasts that long. Their asking price is $16,000.
Often there are more cars that deserve to be in the DEAL of the DAY than we can schedule for our front page feature. Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for the DEAL of the DAY this week. Remember, you saw them here first:
