Magazine Feature Car
Restomod is a term used pretty loosely in internet ads these days. A true restomod, the way the word was intended, is a custom restored classic car that performs “as good as it looks.” Sometimes the builder gets carried away and goes beyond the pale to create a car that exceeds your expectations. That’s what we have here today. This 1969 Camaro was taken to a whole different level. You could spend days going over all the detail that was designed and fabricated into this one.
When a 1969 Camaro RS Restomod custom was listed in our Camaro Section this week, we knew we would have to feature it here in the newsletter. It deserves our attention. The custom show car was listed for sale by WeBe Autos out of New York. This gorgeous Camaro was built with an open checkbook and no expense was spared, they tell us. It was featured in a five-page spread in All Chevy Performance magazine. The list of custom one-off parts and fabrications will astound you. For instance, the full 12-point roll cage is wrapped in leather and tucked in the build nicely by Crazy Don’s Chassis Works. The custom headliner is amazing, and the sub frame is Hydroformed to add complete support for the extra horsepower.
And from what WeBe tells us, it performs even better than it looks. In the engine compartment is a supercharged LSX 454 with a D-1SCH ProCharger making 685 horsepower and 715 foot-pounds of torque. The engine was built with LS7 aluminum heads, Chevrolet Performance hydraulic roller cam, 4340 forged steel crank, rods and pistons. The intake was by Precision Metal Craft using GM LS7 injectors and K&N air filter. A Tremec 6-speed manual transmission uses a Tilton Engineering clutch with line lock. The console for the shifter is leather wrapped (see photos.) The custom headers are from American Racing. And there is so much more. (Read all about it in the ad copy at the link above.)
The bespoke Restomod has only about 1,000 miles on it since the build. The thrill of ownership has never been more enticing. Life just doesn’t get any better than this.

Classic Car News This Week
King of the Hammers
If you think you are an off-roader you might want to attend the “baddest” off-roading event in the country, known as the King of the Hammers. For the uninitiated, King of the Hammers is a week-long off-road racing and rock crawling event in Johnson Valley, California. Events include gruelling daily races in the desert on Mean Dry Lake. The Petersen Museum and Optima Batteries is offering a road rally caravan to the event starting January 31 and wrapping up on February 2, 2025. The action packed weekend is all planned out for you with camping and food provided. You can buy tickets at the Petersen Museum website. You have to have a 4X4 vehicle to run in the rally starting at the Petersen.
Muscle Car Values
With two of the biggest auctions we will see all year happening this month, there will be much focus on collector car values. The Mecum Auction in Kissimmee is in full swing and the Barrett-Jackson Auction is about to start. It is human nature that most collectors will judge car values by the most recent price paid. So this week one of our trusted experts on muscle car values chimed in with his thoughts about the current market. Patrick Krook of REV Muscle Cars wrote a message to his following using a 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda as his example. The Hemi Cuda is considered a “blue chip” collector car because of its desirability. (Everybody wants one.) The value of this car goes much deeper than the most recent sale of any old Hemi Cuda. Krook notes that a classic muscle car like this is defined by its originality:
1-Factory original
2-Verified original drivetrain
3-factory original sheet metal
4-rotisserie restoration
5-factory documented with broadcast sheet and fender tag
Krook also notes that this Hemi Cuda has been verified and visually inspected and confirmed by Galen Govier, a Mopar expert and historian. The car still has only 41,119 miles with only 287 miles put on since the restoration. In other words, this car is a better example than Nicholas Cage’s Hemi Cuda which sold for $605,000 at last year’s Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale. It sold so high because of its celebrity value.
All of this is described in detail in his letter to his followers this week. Click here to read the full discussion.
This Weeks Featured Stories
1941 Graham Hollywood
One of the most interesting listings to arrive this week is a 1941 Graham Hollywood resto rod which was just listed for sale. It is being offered by Classical Gas Motors from their southwestern U.S. location. This car is affordably priced. And when you consider how rare it is, it won’t last long. They tell us it is one of only 350 built by Graham in the last year before World War II when they converted to military vehicle production. We call it a resto rod because it retains its original look but performs with upgrades such as 4-wheel disc brakes, a small block Chevy V8 engine and TH350 automatic transmission. They say it is a dependable road worthy classic. Click here to review a walk-around video and hear it run.
1970 Buick Gran Sport
Hold on to your hearts! A stunning, investor grade 1970 Buick Gran Sport Convertible has been listed for sale by RK Motors Charlotte. More impressive, this is a Stage 1 455 with the high lift cam. Wow! It is one of only 46 GS 455 Stage 1 convertibles produced by Buick that year. Only 10 were produced in this factory Silver Mist paint. And it comes with its Sloan Museum documentation. Of course, it has low restriction dual exhaust. RK Motors tells us it has undergone a body-off nut and bolt restoration. The brightwork is fully restored and the interior has all new upholstery. Click this link to watch a walk-around video and hear it run. The big block Buick represents the pinnacle of Buick engineering and performance for the muscle car era. It was MotorTrend magazine that picked the 1970 Buick Gran Sport Stage 1 as the fastest car they had ever tested back in the day.
Classic Lamborghini
This may be the most investable collector car offered for sale this week. It is a rare 1973 Lamborghini Jarama 400 GT finished in yellow with a tan interior. Only 176 of these early Lamborghini sports cars were built. For its time, the V12 Jarama was the best example of power, elegance and performance rivaling Ferrari in those categories. It is a 2+2 grand touring car with a 5-speed transmission, four-wheel disc brakes and quad exhaust. This one is being offered for sale this week by Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles. They are selling the exotic sports car for a very affordable price. The way these Italian sports cars are accelerating in value there is room for this one to appreciate over the next ten years.

1965 Chevrolet El Camino
This 1965 Chevy El Camino is turquoise on turquoise looking very sharp. It is being offered for sale at Coyote Classics in Greene, Iowa. Watch this detailed inspection video for a closeup and look on all the detail. See the quality of the paint and brightwork. Priced as a driver quality car, this one looks way nicer than driver quality. After the walk-around, take it for a test drive. This is what Chevrolet was all about in the 1960’s. What a ride.

Deals of the Day
1972 Plymouth Duster
A Hemi orange 1972 Plymouth Duster was just listed for sale by Muscle Cars For Sale, a Florida based classic car dealer. They specialize in low cost driver quality cars that have been updated and prepped for street use. They say this one has a 360 ci V8 with headers and aluminum intake and Edelbrock carburetor. They call it a “quick car” with Flowmaster exhaust that sounds good. Click here to watch a video and take a test drive with Mia. They say this car runs and drives “awesome.” It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. Their asking price is $19,900.
1955 Oldsmobile 88 Holiday
This is admittedly a bit of a project. You can see from the photos that this 1955 Oldsmobile 88 Holiday will need some bodywork. Furthermore, the interior needs new upholstery and carpets. A potential buyer should have it inspected to ascertain the quality of the undercarriage and structure of the car. It is being offered for sale by Beverly Hills Car Club. They say it just came out of long term storage. It has an automatic transmission, V8 engine with Rocket ornament and stainless, a Rochester carburetor, chrome hub caps and a California black plate sticker from 1993. This 1956 Studebaker Golden Hawk will surprise you. The photos would indicate a much higher price than the seller is advertising. The private party seller is from British Columbia, Canada. He tells us this car has only 54,978 miles on a rebuilt engine and is in “great condition all around.” The 352 Packard engine has been rebuilt and the car has been in his family since 1996. The whitewall tires and wire wheels really set it off nicely. Notice the sharp, clean interior and dual exhaust. He says it comes with a lot of extra parts, including extra hubcaps, and all original shop manuals. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. The asking price is $21,500. I think you will agree that this is a lotta’ car for the money.

They say the interior is in very good condition with some minor imperfections. The wood is in great shape with no signs of cracking or splitting. Power windows and lights all work properly.
