Famous ’41 Ford Tudor
Every custom car collector’s dream is to own a legendary show car. After years of custom fabrication and endless hours of wet sanding and polishing to perfection, a show quality custom will impress show goers so much that it will live in their memories for a lifetime. But it seldom happens that a top show winner surfaces for sale to the public in its show quality condition. So today is your lucky day.
The 1941 Ford Tudor dubbed “Lost Art” by its builder, the legendary Joe Moreno, was posted in the Cars-On-Line Street Rod Section yesterday. The show winning custom is in “excellent condition” says the private party seller from Arizona. In innovative old skool fashion the incredible custom was chopped, channeled, stretched and sectioned. It even has “fadeaway fenders,” probably the most effective example of fading you will find in any classic custom. Note the style line from the front fender through the door and to the rear quarter fender at about the top of the skirt. Now that is some craftsmanship. “The metal work is breathtaking,” says the seller.
The car was built by well known custom car builder Bill Reasoner. The late Joe Moreno acquired it and redid everything pretty true to Reasoner’s original build, but refined the look and used a Candy Mist paint that reminds onlookers of Cotton Candy. There are hundreds of old school modifications on this car and they are all done in good taste and to show quality.
The front quarters had to be reshaped so the quad headlights would seem to fit naturally. The Thunderbird interior with the “wrapped” back seat was all redone in luxurious leather.
In fact, this car was done so well it took, not one, but two trophies at the Good-Guys Show in Del Mar in 2021. And it won a third trophy that day when Gene Winfield made it his Pick of the Show.
The Arizona seller has made it very affordable to own this historic classic custom. He is offering it for sale for about a third of what it sold for last time. Hurry on this one. Remember, you saw it here.

Classic Car News This Week

Goodwood Festival of Speed
Here is one you’ll want to consider for your “bucket list” of car shows. The Goodwood Festival of Speed will be held July 13-16, 2023 at the Goodwood Motorsports complex near Chichester, United Kingdom (with links to London.) It is billed as “The world’s greatest celebration of motorsport and car culture!” It is an exhilerating immersion into the world of sports cars and motorcycles held in the beautiful parkland surrounding the Goodwood House. It is kind of like a British garden party for motorsports. This year McLaren promises to debut its new Solus GT with the screaming V-10 engine. There is a rumor that Porsche will have the promised 917 there also at their display to celebrate 75 years of Porsche.
You find world-class events such as this one in the Cars-On-Line Car Show Calendar every week. Click here to review upcoming events in July.
Hot Trend
One of the trends we are seeing in the collector car market right now is a high influx of late model Jaguar XK8’s being offered at really affordable prices. These are not bad cars. Sports car enthusiasts might prefer them over Mercedes-Benz SL500 and SL600’s for instance. The handling is excellent. Here is a 1999 Jaguar XK8 Convertible which was just listed by Cruisin Classics in Columbus, Ohio. It has 57,742 miles (just broken in since these cars are rated to go hundreds of thousands of miles.) It has the 4.2 Litre engine. Here is where it gets interesting because Cruisin Classics is only asking $12,995 for this sports car. It might make a fun daily driver for the summer. You’ll find many more in the DEAL of the DAY listings below.
This Weeks Featured Stories
Long Nose Ferrari
Legendary Motorcar Company just listed an amazing 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB Competizione, one of only 12 such “long nose Series II Ferrari 275 GTB” hand built race cars produced. It is the product of a painstaking three-year restoration and has been certified in the Ferrari Classiche Red Book. It has also achieved the FCA Platinum Award at the Cavallino Classic. And Marcel Massini, the Ferrari historian, has complete his History Report on this one. Our readers may have seen it at the Pebble Beach Concours or the Amerlia Island Concours in recent years. It comes with the numbers matching 3.3L Competition dry sump V12. Click here to review a video presentation which Legendary has done on this historic race car.

1967 Ghia 450 SS
Another spectacular classic sports car was listed by Daniel Schmitt & Company this week. This is a rare 1967 Ghia 450 SS Spyder just released from a world-class collection. Talk about tremendous investment potential. This Ghia 450 SS is one of only 26 known to exist today. Ghia 450 SS convertibles were all hand built and sold exclusively to wealthy Americans here in the U.S. by a Beverly Hills importer. They say this example was California owned and maintained, and has been driven only 12,722 miles from new. Click this link to view a walk-around video presentation done by Daniel Schmitt & Company. The investment potential here is exciting.

Here is a 1966 Ford F100 Pickup that is just as clean as a whistle, and it will be sold at No Reserve on Friday, July 21, 2023 at the Palace. Just look at that straight Viper Red paint on those perfect body panels. I’m looking at the picture of the bed and I don’t see a ding or dent in it. There might be some Rhino liner in there for protection. They say it has been frame off restored and that’s pretty obvious. The photos of the undercarriage are amazing. They say it has all new chrome and new emblems. Those American Racing Torque Thrust mags just set it off perfect. This is where you find this type of Southern truck.
Hummer H1
AM General stopped marketing the civilian production Hummer H1 in 2006. That made this 1995 AM General Hummer H1 collectible immediately. It will be on the auction docket on Saturday July 22, 2023 at the GAA Classic Summer Auction in Greensboro, North Carlina. They will sell it at No Reserve. Here is your chance. This is the 6.5L Diesel version with only 63k actual miles. That is documented. The big 4X4 has air conditioning and AM/FM radio with CD player. Deals of the Day
1970 Monte Carlo
This just in! A 1970 Chevrolet Monte Carlo was just posted for sale by a private party seller from Massachusetts. This popular luxury muscle car is powered by a Chevy 350 V8. The seller says it is still all original sheet metal. The exterior Turquoise paint complements the Green interior. Interior is just driver quality. It is an air conditioned car from the factory. The seller says the floors, frame and trunk are 100 percent solid and original. He says it runs and drives “great.” This one may not last the weekend. We don’t see 1970 Monte Carlos in this price range very often. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. The asking price is $19,500.
1949 Ford Tudor Sedan
A 1949 Ford Tudor Sedan from Kentucky is a bit of a project car, but the private party seller says it runs and drives very well. Check it out. It may surprise you with its updated interior and headliner. The matte black street rod finish gives it that historic look and feel. The Flathead engine makes it authentic. The seller says it has been completely rewired. The 8BA Flathead V8 is mated to a 3-speed manual transmission. It has new glass with new weatherstripping on doors and trunk. He says there is a Maverick rear axle and 5-speed transmission available to go with. This raw example will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday. The asking price is $9,800.
1957 Chevrolet
A Copper colored 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 4-Door Sedan is up for sale at Country Classic Cars in Staunton, Illinois. Our readers know that they often find classic treasures in this small Illinois community. This one has a fairly clean looking interior with some work needed to improve the headliner. This classic sits on small white wall tires and runs and drives great. The under carriage needs rust repair. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. Their price: $23,900. Make them an offer.
1973 Opel GT
The little German Opel GT is a “mini-me” of America’s Corvette. In the early 1970’s there was quite a bit of interest in these little two seater sports cars. But not many have survivied in this kind of condition. A Texas wholesaler has listed this one for sale this week. The 1973 Opel GT seems to be a driver quality sports car with a 1.9L 4 cylinder engine and a 4-speed manual transmission. Have it inspected before you buy, but hurry. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday. They are asking $11,999.
1977 Fiat 124 Spider
One of the most affordable Italian two-seater sports cars is also one of the most dependable. Here is a 1977 Fiat 124 Spider 1800 said to be in good condition. It has been extensively refurbished with new front and rear ends, steering, timing belt and complete tuneup. They say it is a good driver quality car. These Fiat 124 Spiders have always been one of the best sports cars Fiat ever produced. The are pretty dependable and easy to maintain. This one will be our DEAL of the DAY on Wednesday. The asking price is $15,995.
1986 Olds Cutlass
In the late 1970’s and early 1980’s the Oldsmobile Cutlass was America’s car, one of the most popular cars in America. For years after that the full size Cutlass was they only remnant of the muscle car era and remained very popular in the “buy American” car culture. So this 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Brougham harkens back to that era. It is being offered for sale at the Classic Auto Mall in Morgantown, Pennsylvania. They tell us it is in very good all original condition with only 34,742 original miles. Such a low mile example is a real find these days. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week. The asking price is $15,500.
1996 Pontiac Trans Am
More summer fun here with a 1996 Pontiac Firebird Formula. The Formula is often called a “poor man’s Trans Am” because you get much of the look and styling that you get with the Trans Am when you own a Formula. This one has T-tops and power steering and power brakes. It is being offered for sale by North Shore Classics in Mundelein, Illinois. Look at the photos at the link. This car really looks great in the photos. They say it runs great, too. Click here to review a walk-around video inspection. Although it is listed as having over 100,000 miles, it just doesn’t look like a high miles car. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. The asking price is $12,900. I think you’ll agree that is a very affordable drive that you can be proud of.
Often there are more cars that deserve to be in the DEAL of the DAY than we can schedule for our front page feature. Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for the DEAL of the DAY this week. Remember, you saw them here first:
2002 Jaguar XK8 | $19,900 | Mundelein, IL |
