1965 Ford Shelby GT350SR built by Carroll Shelby as a special Continuation Series GT350. Listed as SR model… with 408 ci 575 hp aluminum block, aluminum heads, roller cam!

Carroll Shelby decided to celebrate a 40th anniversary of his 1965 Shelby GT 350 and Ford Cobra.

Back in 1965, the Ford Fastback Mustangs would be delivered to Shelby’s shop, a former airplane hangar, to become a Shelby. These fastback Mustangs, were fresh off Ford’s assembly line. There, Shelby’s team disassembled these cars and turned them into Shelby GT350s!

Some 40 years later he did the same to 1965 fastback Mustangs with plans to build 40 SRs. This seller’s car is CSC…016. Seller believes 37 were completed but it’s unverified. Shelby replaced the front and rear suspensions with racing components, including power rack and pinion steering. Also, Carroll Shelby designed a cast aluminum block based upon the 351 block, modified with 3 buyer choices but this time…not just cast aluminum block but heads as well with roller cam and what is detailed below.

With a Shelby Licensed, main contractor, Texas based Unique Performance, these donor cars were completely taken apart… retained parts stripped to bare sheet metal. Except for sheet metal, all main components (drive line to rolling stock to front and rear suspension, were discarded) and a new Shelby LLC licensed build, emerged with new everything. Pix of build, CD, some with date stamp, some with original owner Larry Carpenter, accompany sale.

This one is…CSC#016… SR (Sport/Race). This car has 2,935 original miles… seller has confirmed with the first owner, Larry Carpenter that he drove between 2500-3000 miles on the car and never raced or abused it. According to Mr. Carpenter, a friend of Carroll Shelby…Carroll provided his personal attention to this build with absolutely no delays and a timely finish. Second owner Mark Subject sold this Shelby to this Seller with +/- 2930 miles. It now has 2935 and has never been raced. It could be yours. This car is listed in the Shelby Registry according to the CEO of Carroll Shelby Licensing whose letter goes with all the rest of the provenance you will receive. The car is Titled “1965 Ford Shelby” by the State of Montana which is the 3rd title issued. Photos, CD, from start to finish along with the Ford donor car Warranty Number, affixed as original to driver side door… are provided.

Numbers on the 1965 Ford Shelby GT350SR are identification number, Serial Number, based upon builder Certificate of Origin (to the satisfaction of the Texas DMV), on this Custom built Shelby … is the Shelby Number CSC6533FF31R016, on the passenger fender. The Shelby Serial Number CSC…016, is the ID number Texas and Montana, accepted in the Title, on this Custom Build, some 18 years ago!

This seller warrantees this Title is a clean, lien free Title, obtained in the State of Montana and legally titled to sellers’ Hobby LLC. Seller’s purchase, Title transfer, registration and lifetime registration was very easy and inexpensive. That’s correct…Montana offers a lifetime license plate!

Should buyer desire to utilize seller’s law firm to assure a painless transfer of ownership, all transfer fees will be included in the agreed purchase price! Montana is one of five States (Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon) with no State wide sales tax, on a vehicle titled to a LLC. Of course buyer must comply with Montana legal requirements which are nothing unusual.

PROVENANCE…
This car, 016, aside from being featured in not 1 but 2 Nationally recognized magazines, is one of only two in the family with the Hertz paint scheme and the only SR with the rear seat option which required an approved modification to the roll cage. Seller believes the rear seat option to be at a $15,000 to $20,000 option! There are a couple technical errors in one of the magazine articles…donor cars are all 1965 Mustang Fastback cars…one magazine reported 1966; also the 408 option is 575 and not 585 as reported.

Purchase comes with: Full Professional ($800) car show display flag and summary of features, dozens of photos, CD of build, original 1965 Mustang DATA TAG properly mounted. An authentication letter dated September 28, 2018 to second owner Mark Subject, a NY businessman and collector, from Carrol Shelby Licensing, Inc., CEO M. Neil Cummings, ESQ which further documents originality of car 016 and confirms the listing in the Shelby Register.

Also included is a lengthy computer printout with every nut, bolt, part, manufacturer, supplier that was utilized by Shelby and it’s contractors to accomplish this magnificent build!
