The Boss is Back
The 1969 Mustang Boss 429 stands as one of the most significant muscle cars ever built, created specifically to homologate Ford’s massive 429 cubic-inch semi-hemi “Blue Crescent” engine for NASCAR competition. Ford needed to sell at least 500 street versions to qualify the engine for NASCAR competition, so they shoehorned this behemoth power plant—originally designed for the larger Torino—into the Mustang’s engine bay, a feat that required widening the shock towers and relocating several components. The result was a limited-production street machine that combined Ford’s pony car icon with its most exotic racing powerplant. The Boss 9’s rarity (only about 1,350 were made during 1969–70), its NASCAR pedigree, and its engineering audacity have made it one of the most collectible and valuable muscle cars in existence.
Today there is a great example of the 1969 Mustang Boss 429 in our Mustang Section, having been listed for sale by Ideal Classic Cars, a classic car dealer in Florida. Shown here in its Candy Apple Red finish, they note that it is one of only 859 produced in 1969. Kar Kraft was the aftermarket company that Ford hired to fit the huge 429 engine in the Mustang’s engine bay. Each Boss 9 had a Kar Kraft number attached to the inside of the driver’s door above the Ford door plate. This one is Kar Kraft No. 2011. It has the aluminum semi-hemi 429 heads, aluminum intake manifold, forged crankshaft, forged connecting rods, four bolt mains and a Holley 4-barrel on top. A Hurst shifter is connected to a correct RUG AE2 Ford Top-Loader, close ratio, 4-speed manual transmission. It also has the correct WFD-D 3.91 Traction-Lok differential with 9” axle and nodular iron differential case. The hood scoop is functional.
These cars sell for big money. This one could be the centerpiece of a significant collection. Just by owning it you become part of automotive history.

AMX Inspection Report
When a New Jersey buyer asked us to inspect a classic 1970 AMC AMX muscle car for him in Wisconsin his concern was about which condition class to peg it in. The car was a “barn find” so he wanted to know where “the rust and rot was.” Was it a low Number 3 Condition Class that runs and drives but needs some cosmetic work short of a full restoration? Or was it a low Number 4 Condition Class that needs a lot of panel replacement and structural repair? There was a lot to consider as there always is in the pursuit of a “barn find.” The inspector seemed to be overall impressed with the body panels and structural integrity of the AMX. There were some troublesome discoveries along the way, mostly little things like the window regulators and horn not working. You can read the entire report here.
The first item on a buyer’s “To Do” list should be to contact the Cars-On-Line Inspection Service. Buying a collector car is much different than buying a new or used late model car. It is always a “buyer beware” type of sale. With a network of inspectors all over the U.S. and Canada, your first line of protection in any sale is a COL Collector Car Inspection. Learn more about collector car inspections when you read our COL Inspection Referral Service page.
Auctions

Mark your calendars for the Spring Carlisle Collector Car Flea Market and Auction in historic Carlisle, Pennsylvania. It is one of the oldest and most respected collector car events in the country. What we like about this great car show is the Spring Carlisle Auction at the Expo Center across from the fairgrounds. This year the auction will be held on April 23-24, 2026. They have just begun to list some of their auction inventory on our website. Here are a few of the vehicles we noticed will be offered for sale to the highest bidder next month.
1938 LaSalle Convertible
Feast your eyes on one of the featured cars to be sold at the upcoming Spring Carlisle Auction, April 23-24, 2026 during the famous Spring Carlisle Car Show and Swap Meet in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The sale will offer this 1938 Cadillac LaSalle Convertible as Lot # 470.1 on Friday, April 24. Take a look at the photos on their ad page. It has a new leather interior, new convertibles top and new chrome. They say it is the product of a comprehensive restoration to original. It comes with a 322 ci V8 engine, 3-speed column shifted manual transmission and much more. The LaSalle models were produced as a lower priced Cadillac, but still maintained Cadillac’s reputation for building reliable cars. About 20,000 LaSalles were produced in 1938. They figure only about 3,000 of them were convertibles. This is a rare find.
1972 Buick GS Convertible
The Forest Green 1972 Buick Gran Sport Convertible looks real sharp in the photos on the Spring Carlisle Auction website. Although it was officially called Dark Green in Buick vernacular back in the day, it is often referred to as “Forest Green” by Buick lovers. From the photos we see it has 85445 miles on the odometer, and the odometer tumblers look real straight. It has the GS 350 small block engine with functional GS ram air hood. The vents opened at higher speeds to improve engine performance. The throttle response was noticeable. The muscle car features a 4-speed manual transmission and power convertible top with power steering and power brakes. From the photos we can see that the interior looks very clean and the undercarriage looks solid. You can have it inspected by calling the Carlisle Auction folks ahead of the auction week.
1940 Ford Pickup
Recently consigned, here is a Root Beer Brown 1940 Ford Pickup street rod which will be offered to the highest bidder at the upcoming Spring Carlisle Auction at the Expo Center during the Spring Carlisle Car Show and Swap Meet later this month. It is one of the most recognizable classic pickup trucks because of the teardrop headlights. It has a 351 Cleveland big block motor with Holley 4-barrel carburetor and 4-speed manual transmission, plus a Northen aluminum radiator with electric fan. With a Mustang II independent front suspension, you can take it anywhere and drive at highway speeds. It has front coil-over shocks, front disc brakes and dual exhaust. The interior is a custom design with Classic Instruments. Note the hand applied custom pin-striping.

1979 Ford Ranchero GT
They call it a coupe utility, a term that implies a vehicle that has a car body and a pickup utility bed. That is how Cruisin’ Classics defines this 1979 Ford Ranchero GT. Cruisin’ Classics notes that this was the last year for the Ford Ranchero, so it is a must have for collectors. You couldn’t ask for a sportier looking pickup inspired utility vehicle. It appears here in this video in its original Medium Blue Glow paint color, a rare color choice for 1979. Watch the video above to get a good walk-around inspection. Notice the imperfections in the paint. Polished 5-spoke aluminum REV wheels are wrapped in newer tires. Overall this is a sharp looking driver quality ride. With this detailed inspection you have a better idea of what to expect when you buy.

Collector Cars with Low Miles
1993 Mustang LX Convertible
A California collector listed his 1993 Mustang LX Convertible this week, noting that it is in “concourse condition” meaning he believes it to be in show quality. That is because this remarkable Mustang has only 595 original miles. Finished in Bright Red with a white leather interior, it has a known history from delivery to now, and he says was stored in a climate controlled environment in a private collection. Powered by a 302 V8 and 5-speed manual tranmsission, it provides a sporty ride with Traction-Lok rear axle. It has a white convertible top, 16” Pony alloy wheels, front disc brakes, air conditioning, cruise control and a cassette stereo. The Fox body LX is all that and more with low miles.
Here are more recent Low Miles additions:

This week the private party owner from Ontario, Canada just dropped the price. And it is a big drop. This one will send shockwaves throughout the Mopar community. Although it has a ’67 Hemi 425 engine, this Road Runner is so nice it runs and drives as if it were brand new, says the seller. It is not numbers matching, he will tell you. However, he says every nut and bolt on this muscle car is brand new. It has a 4-speed, Dana 60, 3.54 gears and a lift-off hood. He says it was restored on a rotisserie. When he first listed the car he was asking $130,000. But just this week he dropped the price to $112,000.

Deals of the Day
1966 Mustang Convertible
A Candy Apple Red 1966 Mustang Convertible was listed for sale this week at Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles. This timeless classic Mustang with a black interior really takes a good picture. It should be pointed out that this one came with a six cylinder 200 ci engine so it is not an A code or C code. It has an automatic transmission and single-barrel carburetor with power drum brakes. Note the 14-inch wheels with wire hubcaps. The interior on this car is very nice with bucket seats and a floor mounted shifter. The trunk has the correct liner. Manufacturers literature is offered with the sale. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. Their asking price is only $26,500.
1955 Ford Fairlane
We were very interested in this offering from a private party seller from Rio Rancho, New Mexico. It is a 1955 Ford Fairlane 4-Door Sedan that is so attractively priced that we knew we would have to show it to you here. It has a V8 engine with a 3-speed column mounted shifter. The seller says it comes with new tune up parts including points, cap, plugs and more. He has a new fuel pump for the car, and says he has new carpet as well. He notes that the mileage is 89,000 miles. You can tell from the photos that this car needs some work so you might want to have it inspected before you buy. You would want to know if it goes down the road straight and how it runs. That information is not included in the ad copy. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. His asking price is $9,500.
1970 Triumph TR-6
A collector from Michigan listed his 1970 Triumph TR-6 Roadster for sale this week. The private party owner noted that this is an early edition with the metal vent louver and central ignition lock. He says the car is still the original color, and the interior is also original. He has some closeup photos of the inside the doors if you are interested. The fenders are fiberglass, meaning no rust. It has the optional knock-off wheels with a central locking nut. (He says the knock-off wrench is included.) It has new tires and tubes. According to the ad copy, the top is in good condition with no tears, and he says he has the boo and driving cover. He considers it to be a “driver quality car,” not a show car. It was recently tuned up and serviced. This is one you have to consider. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday next week. The asking price is $9,200.
1986 Tiffany Classic Coupe
Beverly Hills Car Club is doing it again this week. They get so many great deals in every week that they sometimes dominate our DEAL of the DAY feature. Here is another one of their hot buys. They listed a 1986 Tiffany Classic Coupe for sale. This is one of those neo-classic designed cars that were so popular in the 1980’s. Finished in cream over a beige interior, it was built on a Mercury Cougar chassis with a California title. The lights and amber fog lights. signature look is much like an Excalibur, but more refined. It features a heavily chromed front grille with dual badges, dual side-mounted spare tire housings with wire wheel covers. Those are 15-inch wire wheels with Tiffany-branded center caps. This one has been updated with LED lighting and updated LED headlights. Inside it has air conditioning, power seats and power windows. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday next week. Their asking price is $16,750.
1982 Corvette T-Top
Another Beverly Hills Car Club this week is a two-tone Silver Metallic over Dark Charcoal 1982 Corvette Coupe with a matching dark charcoal interior. Its signature feature is the open air look with removable glass T-Tops. Under the hood, the 5.7L V8 pairs with an automatic transmission for reliable, everyday performance. The Corvette sits on 15-inch 8-slot aluminum wheels wrapped in Goodyear Eagle GT II tires with raised white-letter sidewalls. Design touches like concealed headlights, quad taillights, and sculpted fenders reflect the C3’s distinctive styling, originally inspired by the 1965 Mako Shark II concept car. The interior is comfortable with high-back bucket seats, a center console, power windows, air conditioning, a 3-spoke steering wheel, door pockets, dual-side rearview mirrors, and a Kenwood radio. The T-Tops on the ’82 C3s were known for being better than previous T-Top versions. This is a well equipped example that retains its classic features. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Wednesday next week. Their asking price is $11,750.
1954 MG TF Roadster
Of all the legendary MG sports roadsters, we think the MG TF model was the most refined. It was such an attractive and elegant build that it still looks stunning today. Here is a great example. Beverly Hills Car Club just posted this 1954 MG TF Roadster for sale this week. They say it is historically significant because it has matching numbers and is finished in a black paint with biscuit and black interior. This is quite an attractive combination. With sleek lines and chrome accents, it exudes elegance and sophistication that was ahead of its time. It is equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission, inline-four engine, SU dual carburetors, Jaeger instruments, chrome bumpers with overriders, 3-spoke banjo-style steering wheel, bonnet louvers, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, Nexen tires, and MG-branded hubcaps. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week (if it lasts that long.) They are asking $19,750.
2004 Mercedes-Benz SL500
Remember when Ford brought back the Thunderbird two-seater sports car in 2002 inspired by the 1955-1957 early T-Birds? Every one they produced was guaranteed to become collector items one day. That day is still in the distant future because there are still so many of them around. You can still buy them at an attractive price today. A great example is this 2003 Ford Thunderbird Convertible finished in Mountain Shadow Grey paint. It has the 3.9L DOHC V8 engine and an automatic transmission with overdrive. It is being offered for sale at Unique Classic Cars in Mankato, Minnesota. They say it has just 62,746 actual miles. The soft top matches the black interior. It remains clean and well taken care of by the way it looks in the photos. Click here to watch a walk-around video and hear it run. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. The asking price is $17,900.
