One-of-One Known
The Oldsmobile Cutlass had a storied past. First came the Oldsmobile F-85. Then the compact family sedan turned into the Cutlass pillarless hardtop. Variants of the Cutlass included a raging muscle car with the name 4-4-2. The acronym meant it had a 4-barrel carburetor, 4-speed transmission and dual exhaust. (Although in 1965 Oldsmobile changed 442 to mean a 400 ci V8 engine, 4-speed and dual exhaust.) But that was not all. No, then came the W30 package that crowned the 442 as king of the muscle cars as far as Oldsmobile fans were concerned, at least. But Oldsmobile fudged on the concept allowing buyers to order their 442’s with automatic transmissions. So the 442 concept was never a hard and fast rule for Oldsmobile.
This week a top-of-the-line 1969 Oldsmobile 442 W30 Convertible was listed for sale in its stock Saffron Yellow finish. It is being offered on consignment at WeBe Autos, an internet broker that helps us Baby Boomers sell our cars on the internet. The car is located in New Jersey. They indicate that it is an older restoration with a recent paint correction and refreshed original equipment. Out of 2,475 Oldsmobile 442 W30’s produced in ‘69, only 121 were convertibles. This is one of only 30 automatics built that year, and they believe that only about a half-dozen still exist. They tell us this is the only one that still has its documentation. This is a very rare muscle car indeed.
Along with the signature red inner front wheel wells, the 1969 442 W30 convertible has the Olds Ram Rod 400 ci V8 engine. They tell us it is a dealer installed warranty block with correct D heads, distributor, original carburetor, alternator, water pump, master cylinder with correct NOS oil pressure sender and fuel pump. The engine was recently rebuilt by ACR Machine in Robbinsville, New Jersey. It has the 3.91 Posi rear end, and original SS2 wheels with Redline tires. It has all new brakes, steering and suspension, including shocks and brake cables. It also has new exhaust.
Sold new at Dunn Chevrolet Olds in Oregon, Ohio, the car comes with a Protect-O-Plate and the original dealer shipping order and window sticker. It has a Cas-Am Certificate of Authenticity and Rocket Report done by Steve Minore, a 442 expert out of Connecticut.

Classic Car News This Week
Most Popular Listing
The most popular car for sale on the Cars-On-Line.com website for the month of October was this 1935 Ford 3-Window Coupe from Courtenay, British Columbia, Canada. Our AWS stats showed that 4,495 interested buyers looked at the ad in October. It is an old school hot rod with wide whites. It has been chopped and channeled, and has all Henry’s original steel. The frame has been modified but the rod still has its original VIN. Under the hood is a 427 big block pushing a Turbo 400 with a shift kit. The interior is old school with a Lokar granny shifter. George Barris, the late great legendary custom builder, liked this car so much he autographed the glove box. You can see why so many people are looking at it. The seller says it is more than a car. “This one is an experience,” he says.
Same Old Scam
Yesterday many of our readers may received an email from Cars-On-Line.com warning them about an active scammer who is contacting our advertisers. The scammer uses aliases i.e. Edward Stone and Brian Hendricks. He offers to send you a certified check, but when it arrives it will be for more money than your agreed upon price. Then he will pressure the seller to send back the over payment. The scam is that that original check will bounce and if you send him the overpayment it will be out of your hard earned money. He uses these emails: [email protected] or hendrickssbrian71@gmail-com.
Remember, the best defense against such predators is to never send money back. While the existence of scams can be disheartening, we believe that by staying informed and aware, you can confidently protect yourself and your loved ones. If you want to learn more about how to avoid internet scams, you may want to read some of the articles we’ve published in our archives. Tap here to go to the Archive Section on Scams.

1924 Willys Overland Touring
In Willys-Overland ad jargon, it was “The Most Automobile in the World for the Money.” That was their advertising slogan starting in 1924 when the company began fine tuning their design and marketing to compete with the many fledgling automotive manufacturers popping up in the marketplace. They came out with this 1924 Willys-Overland Sport Touring model to promote their efforts to feature a range of models. This historic Model 91 Willys-Overland was just posted for sale by Garage Kept Motors in Grand Rapids, Michigan. They say the restoration, completed in 2011, has preserved the vehicle’s original charm and ensures it will remain in this condition. Good paintwork and attention to detail is evident throughout. The 154 ci 4-cylinder engine was quite an achievement, offering more horsepower than Ford’s Model T at the time. Click here to watch a walk-around inspection and listen to it run.
Corvette N03 Tanker
Joe Verrillo has another great classic Corvette for sale out of his collection. Verrillo Motor Car Company just posted a Rally Red 1966 Corvette N03 Tanker out of his collection. There were only 66 Corvettes built with the N03 option in ’66. The N03 code indicates that the Corvette came from the factory with a 36.5-gallon fuel tank for endurance racing. This was Corvette engineer, Zora Duntov’s edge over the competition. They are so rare that for many Corvette collectors thought they were an “urban legend.” This one has the L79 327/350 V8 engine and an M20 Muncie 4-speed. It is one of only two such N03 Tankers exported to Canada in ’66 which are still known to exist. It was ordered by the family that owned the Chevrolet dealership in the Town of Rouyn-Noranda, and came with 18 factory options (see the list on the ad page.)
1963 Plymouth Savoy Super Stock
If you are a Mopar collector who remembers their racing history from the early 1960’s, this is your Huckleberry. It is a rare opportunity to see a 1963 Plymouth Savoy Max Wedge Super Stock car with the infamous orange 426 Hemi engine. It is being offered for sale at Carolina Muscle Cars in Benson, North Carolina. The decoding on this Super Stock shows the bare bones Savoy was built at Chrysler’s Lynch Road plant in Detroit where all the Super Stock’s came from. The legendary option code 9 makes it an original 426 Super Stock car with the rare Stage II Wedge engine rated at 425 horsepower. It was from legendary race car driver Don Fezell’s collection. He owned the car for 26 years. It has received a “very correct” restoration. It is said to be documented in the Darrell Davis book of Super Stock Max Wedge cars, and comes with the original fender tag, owners manual, dealer brochure and Super Max Wedge spec sheets.

Collector Cars with Low Miles
1981 Datsun 280ZX GL
The Millenials and Gen Z’s are now into collecting, but they don’t look for the cars their fathers collected. The new generation of collectors are looking for 1980’s sports cars such as this 1981 Datsun 280ZX GL, a Corvette surrogate that was designed with Grand Touring creature comforts. This one is being offered for sale by Streetside Classics out of their Charlotte, North Carolina location. They say it has been so well preserved that it still has only 8,781 original miles. That’s amazing! When you slip inside you might think it just rolled off the assembly line in Japan. The interior is thoughtfully equipped with power windows, power mirrors, and dual 6-way seats with lumbar support. This is the one.
Here are more recent Low Miles additions:
2002 Corvette Z06, WeBe Autos, NY, only 19k miles
1988 Cadillac Seville STS, Primo Classics International, 2k miles

Project Vehicles for Restoration
1932 Ford Roadster
This car looks so good in the photos that you may wonder why it is in our Project Car Section. A private party seller from Tampa just listed his 1932 Ford Roadster for sale. He says everything on the car is brand new. It has suicide doors, fiberglass body, a Speedway Motors boxed frame, C3 Corvette rear suspension, independent coilover front suspension and a 355 Chevy motor. He says he built it for touring. Recently he had some surgery and says he can’t complete the build. This might be an easy restoration to finish. He indicates that it needs to be “pulled apart” again for painting. You see it hear in black primer. Call him for more details.

1968 Plymouth Road Runner
Mopar collectors will want to take note. A California collector just lowered the price on his 1968 Plymouth Road Runner. Road Runners have been hot sellers recently in the market. This one only has 4,500 original miles, says the seller. It has the original motor, bellhousing, transmission and rear end. It is a 4-speed and has a tach, 8 track player and Rallye wheels. There is a known history on this car with only three owners. This car is ready to roll and has lots of documentation. The seller was asking $70,000 for the car. He just dropped the price to $62,000.

Muscle Car Clones
1970 Pontiac GTO Judge Tribute
Built on a real GTO? Or a Lemans? Great question. Call Streetside Classics in Charlotte to find out. This Orange Sherbert 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge Tribute is so visually beautiful that it is a work of art in its own right. They say it comes with its Pontiac Historical Society documentation so you can trace its origin. With the 400 ci V8 and Sniper Fuel Injection you can bet it will pull some G’s. It has air conditioning and front disc brakes. I could get used to this.

Deals of the Day
1974 Chevy Nova
If you have followed the history of Mercury, there was a time when the company wanted to compete on at the race track along with its Ford cousins. The result was the 1963 Mercury Marauder with its 390 ci big block V8 engine. At the half year mark of 1963 it was offered as a trim package on the Monterey and S-55, featuring a fastback style roofline. It was a pillarless hardtop design. This rare example is being offered for sale at Legendary Motors in Massachusetts. It has power steering and brakes, power windows and power front bench seat. There is some wear on the front bench seats and cracks noticeable in the dash. The Sultana White paint shows signs of aging and the typical surface rust is visible. Click here to watch a walk-around video and hear it run. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. They are only asking $15,000 on this important muscle car.
1941 Buick Special Business Coupe
A 1941 Buick Special Business Coupe was listed this week by the Classic Auto Mall in Pennsylvania. They say it was driven daily recently, and now starts and runs smoothly. The big Buick has room for three in th front and all kinds of storage space behind the seats. The description indicates that it was refreshed in 1981 with paint and interior work. But they note that it was not so overly restored as to take away from its originality. They claim that it is a well documented car with 65,840 actual miles. It still has its color matched 15-inch wheels with trim rings. You should have it inspected before you buy. They note some cracking in the paint, scuffs, filler near the door and door jambs. But the car shows well in the photos and has the Fireball 8 engine. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. Their asking price is $14,999.
1949 Ford F1 Patina Pickup
Streetside Classics just listed this 1949 Ford F1 Pickup for sale out of their Nashville area store. They call it a “Patina Pickup,” although it is real solid looking and looks good in the photos. This is one you might want to have inspected to get a good read on its condition class. You can see that the paint is thin and the body has visible dings in it. The interior is clean but worn looking and the bed needs a redo. However they have put a GM 350 swap under the hood and it has a ’72 Chevy pickup front end. They say it is a great cruiser the way it is. An inspection would tell you If it has life left in it or not. They refer to it as “an affordable cruiser.” It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. Their asking price is $15,995.
1968 Dodge Dart Sport
One of the more exciting listings this week on the Cars-On-Line.com website is this 1968 Dodge Dart Sport with the GTS trim and emblems. Although the paint job is said to be “amateur” in quality, it does still look good in the photos. But they also say that the body under the paint is solid. It is being offered for sale this week at Coyote Classics in Greene, Iowa. Click here to watch their interesting video walk-around inspection. It has a 340 4-barrel V8 engine and automatic transmission. It comes with power steering, white factory bucket seat interior with console and dual exhaust. What’s more, they say it runs and drives nice. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. Their asking price is $27,995.
1960 Triumph TR3A Roadster
For British sports car lovers, here is a 1960 Triumph TR3A Roadster at a very attractive price point. It is being offered for sale this week at Gullwing Motor Cars in New York. They consider it a presentable original driver class car which “would benefit from minor cosmetics and servicing.” They say it needs a tuneup. The black over red interior is a nice color combination. It is said to be “mechanically sound, it runs and drives …” A straight car, it has never been fully restored. The TR3A is the one with the wider front grille and lockable boot area. It is considered by collectors to be more desirable than its predecessor, the TR3. They say it wouldn’t take much to restore it. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday next week. Their asking price is $11,950.
1974 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme
For the years when the Olds Cutlass was transitioning between an out-and-out muscle car to a luxury sedan, not many have survived. Here is a 1974 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme that you don’t see very much anymore. The car is privately owned in Stow, Massachusetts. The seller says it has a strong running Rocket 350 ci V8 mated to its original TH350 automatic transmission. It originally was a West Coast California car with all original sheet metal. It has Velocity Red paint and leather interior, both said to be in excellent condition. They say it has always been garaged and maintained, and “runs and drives excellent.” It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Wednesday. His asking price is $20,900.
1952 Buick Super
Another private party seller from Wisconsin has listed a 1952 Buick Super 4-Door for sale. This one is said to be all original. We think that means it has not been restored. You can see from the photos that the body is rough and the interior is worn. But the engine compartment is surprisingly clean. There is still a lot to like on this old Buick. It has the 263.3 ci engine with a Stromberg carburetor, and a Dynaflow automatic transmission. They say it will still do 100 miles per hour (you can’t beat a powerful Buick Straight 8 engine.) ’53 was the last year for the Buick Straight 8. You should have a pre-purchase inspection done before you buy to find out more. But hurry! It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. The asking price is only $5,000.
Often there are more cars that deserve to be in the DEAL of the DAY than we can schedule for our front page feature. Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for the DEAL of the DAY this week. Remember, you saw them here first:
