Up for sale is my rare 1971 Dodge Charger Super Bee (1 of 26 built). In 1971, only 26 Super Bee’s were built with the 440 4-barrel (U-Code) 375 HP. Of the 7 or so U-code cars still known to exist, this is the only one in this color and drivetrain. Factory GY3 Citron Yella with the slap-stik automatic. I am just the 3rd owner. I bought this car almost 11 years ago. The previous (2nd) owner bought the car in 1982 (owned for 32 years) who stored it indoors and only drove it in the summer. I bought the car in the Spring of 2015 and of course keep it stored indoors and only drive it in the Summer.

This is a factory California car that has never had a bunch of rust. All original steel body minus a small patch (professionally done) on the driver’s floorboard around 1990 when it was repainted. Originally ordered with A/C (currently not installed) & concealed headlamps among other options. Most of the A/C components will go with the car along with the original numbers matching engine and transmission. The original engine and transmission have ever been apart.

The 440 engine and transmission in the car now were installed in the early 90’s by the previous owner. I believe the engine block is a 1974 but it was redone before installation and some good parts were added like Direct Connection heads and other upgrades, small cam, etc. The car runs great and is very reliable. The original 8 ¾ rear has 3.55 gears.

Since I’ve owned the car, I’ve done the following: Installed all new Stainless Steel Accurate exhaust with Flowmaster 40’s; the car sounds great! I did this when I added the machine gun tip exhaust. I’ve had the radiator re-cored. Added the spoilers. I had the transmission rebuilt maybe 1200 miles ago; it does have a shift kit. The bee is docile but will get up & go if you want it to.

I am just the 3rd owner and I’ve owned this car since May of 2015. The previous owner bought the car in 1982 – owned for 33 years.

This car isn’t perfect but shows very well! It was displayed in Building T at Chrysler’s at Carlisle last year (2024) for the High Impact color display (see Picture). It is a very nice driver that can be enjoyed as-is.

Items that could be addressed: The paint does have a couple small scratches or knicks here and there from regular summertime driving. Also, there is small bubbling in front of both rear wheels. The bubbling was there almost 11 years ago when I bought the car and it hasn’t gotten worse. The inside hood release handle broke; I ordered a new one and haven’t installed it. The hood can still be opened & released. The driver’s mirror has a chip in the paint; it’s been there since I bought the car. The original hood has a couple spots that could be touched up.

This car is very reliable and I wouldn’t hesitate to drive it anywhere. It can be enjoyed as-is for years to come as is or you could rebuild the original engine; add back the A/C. and bring it back to original.

I have had a lot of great times with this car and I am not in a hurry to sell it but it does deserve a new home as I don’t drive it very much anymore. I have more pictures and videos of the car running, etc. Feel free to call or text me at 301-992-5058.
