Standard in Luxury
Back in the 1950’s the auto manufacturers were in competition to see who could be the most innovative, coming up with some interesting designs and new fangled gadgets. Cadillac, for instance, sent special built Eldorado 4-Door hardtops to Italy to allow Pinninfarina coach builders to reimagine their top luxury car. The epic design that came out of this experiment should be considered one of the top 20 luxury cars of all time.
The resulting Cadillac Eldorado Brougham was as expensive as it was luxurious and opulent. It is characterized by its brushed metal stainless steel roof and pillarless suicide rear doors which opened up the interior like no other car before it. It was produced only in 1957 and 1958. In ’58 they only built 304 of them. In ’57 they were among the first cars to have quad headlights, a visually striking appearance. Its 368 ci V8 engine produced 325 horsepower (way more than most cars of that era) and it sported a 4-speed automatic transmission (when most cars had 2-speed automatics.) The trunk was remotely operated by controls in the glove compartment. These Cadillacs had memory seats, power vent windows, air conditioning, and an interlock that prevented the driver from selecting a gear if the rear doors were not power-latched.
This week a 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham project car was listed for sale in our Cadillac Section online. For the collector / restorer this is a great opportunity to own one of the top collector cars of all time at a fraction of its value. It is being offered for sale at Unique Classic Cars in Minnesota. Although they say the car runs and drives, they note both cosmetic and mechanical problems which will require restoration. Click here to watch their walk-around video and inspection.
It will need work to restore the Air Ride suspension and also needs brake work. The cosmetic updates include paint defects, minor dings, missing chrome trim, cracked taillights, and wear on the interior components such as the carpet and seats. Some of the power windows work. Have it independently inspected to find out more.
A project such as this does not come along often. The average value on these Eldorado Broughams is right around $100,000. One once sold for $781,000 (perfect example.) Back in the day, this car sold new for the stratospheric amount of $13,000 (you could buy five Chevrolets for the same price.)
This car was a rolling autorama of Cadillac’s ability to produce cars for “the future.” Very few were produced, so they are the perfect investment for collectors today. For those talented enough to complete the restoration this car will be a big money maker.

Classic Car News This Week
Pebble Beach Concours Winner
As a followup to our story from last week’s newsletter about the happenings in California during Monterey Week, here is the winner of the Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance. The 2025 Pebble Beach Concours Best of Show winner is the 1924 Hispano-Suiza H6C Torpedo owned by Penny and Lee Anderson Sr, of Naples, Florida. The judges said it won as much for its technical innovations as for its immaculate condition. It is also historically significant, having been raced in the Targa Florio and the Coppa Florio in Sicily. It was known as the “Tulipwood Torpedo” in its day because of its construction using strips of mahogany with 8,500 rivets joining them at the ribs. The Best of Show award at the Pebble Beach Concours remains the highest award you can receive in the collector car hobby. The concours entries all participated in a 70 mile road course last week. The news release from Pebble Beach said there were 229 entries in this years competition, 55 were from 22 countries outside the U.S. The event is significant on a world wide scale. They noted that the event raised over $4 million for charity this year which, through the Pebble Beach Company Foundation, helps support over 100 local non-profits focused on youth education in Monterey County.
Auburn’s ACD Festival
The Auburn Cord Duesenberg Festival is coming up next week in Auburn, Indiana. The Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Festival is a Homecoming for all the vintage motorcars produced here at the Auburn plant as they find their way back home to Indiana. This year it will run from August 28 through August 30, 2025. The annual Labor Day Homecoming is such an amazing display of Americana that we count it as one of the major car shows to add to your bucket list. Every show goer should include a requisite visit to the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum, one of the most interesting historical displays in the country housed in the Art Deco headquarters of E.L. Cord’s long lost empire. On Saturday there is a huge gathering of Auburns, Cords and Duesenberg’s in the park at Eckhart Park, followed by a parade through downtown Auburn to the Auburn City Square. The Gatsby Ball will be held on Saturday evening. This show is a blast.
Make sure you check our Car Show Calendar so you don’t miss any of the great shows like this one this summer. September has a great lineup of top national level car shows and auctions. Click here to view our calendar. You may want to bookmark it for future reference.

1969 Camaro RS/SS
A show quality restomod 1969 Camaro RS was just posted for sale in the Camaro Section yesterday. What sets it apart from the rest is the 565 Big Bock engine built by Gor-Den Racing. Take a look at the photos. The Dart Big M block and Brodix heads are fed by flat top velocity stacks. It is being offered for sale this week at Online Auto Connection in West Seneca, New York. They note the 6-speed Tremec transmission and 3.70 gears with 31-spline axle. It was constructed on a Scott’s Hot Rod chassis with Ride Tech coil overs and a new power rack. The paint was done by John Jorgenson. And it has an M and M Hot Rod interior with Vintage Air and heat. It is one of a few dozen restomod muscle cars in this week’s New Listings. Find more below, and don’t forget to go through the hundreds of restomod muscle cars currently available for sale in the Pro Touring and Restomod Section of the Cars-On-Line.com website.
Allure of the Pink Cadillac
The idea of a pink Cadillac came about in the Rock N Roll crazy 1950’s when Elvis was king and the rebellious nature of young Americans challenged everything about our world. A pink Cadillac became the status symbol for success, status and independence. We know that Elvis owned at least three pink Cadillacs. (As the story goes Elvis bought over 200 Cadillacs, 32 of which he bought in one day.) Now here is a 1959 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible that combines the color with the most sought after Cadillac of all time. It’s all about the fins. It is being offered for sale by Classic Car Deals, an internet broker out of Michigan. They say it has just 68,805 miles and is in “excellent condition.” “Iconic” and “show quality” are the adjectives they use to describe it.
Kindig-It Boss Mustang
Remember the 1967 Boss Mustang featured on the TV show Bitchin’ Rides? The custom Mustang Fastback was totally redone by Dave Kindig and his Kindig-It Design crew. It eventually was also featured on Hot Rod TV and Car Crazy. It was just posted on the Cars-On-Line.com website for sale yesterday. The build incorporates an Art Morrison custom frame with a bull belly pan, a narrowed Ford 9” rear end with massive 24” Intro wheels out back and 20” Intros up front. The Zoomie exhaust is functional. The bodywork includes a custom stretched hood, and custom front valance. Vintage air and custom leather highlight the interior. But the frosting on the cake is the ATI procharged Ford 427 ci V8 engine producing 700 horses. This automotive work of art was done by the best in the business, and is available for sale now.
Auctions
One of the oldest and most respected car shows in the country is the Fall Carlisle Car Show and Swap Meet in historic old Carlisle, Pennsylvania. During this great show the Carlisle Events people put on the Fall Carlisle Auction, October 2-3, 2025, at the Carlisle Expo Center across the street from the Fairgrounds. This premier event always draws interesting classic cars, muscle cars and collector trucks from all over the Eastern seaboard. We would like to remind our readers that Carlisle is still offering its FREE UNLESS SOLD GUARANTEE for sellers who want to consign their vehicle for the fall auction. Click here to read more.
New cars are showing up in their auction inventory each week. Here are just a few that have come in this week.
McLaren MP4-12C Spider
A street legal factory race car will be offered on the final day of the Fall Carlisle Auction in October this year. This 2013 McLaren MP4-12C Spider comes with the sport package and a 3.8Liter Twin-Turbocharged V8 engine. With a white exterior and black interior, this one looks and feels just right for the super car experience. The 7-speed dual-clutch SSG transmission requires a good driver and the 616 horsepower is a lot to handle. But the Comfort package and the Convenience package are nice additions to round out the ride. What do you think it will sell for?
1970 Chevelle SS
The 1970 Chevelle Super Sport may be the hottest car on the market these days. So many people are looking for Chevrolet’s midsized muscle car with incredible handling. And this one has power steering and power disc brakes. It will be sold at the Fall Carlisle Auction the first weekend in October. Not all original … no, this one is better than original. With a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission, and a blown 454 V8, it puts the power to the ground with a 12-bolt rear end and 3.73 gears. The Hugger Orange paint is all new. It is a good example of the “blue collar” type muscle cars that you will find at Carlisle.
Corvette Grand Sport
Late model sports cars, especially Corvettes, abound in the inventory at Carlisle. Here is a 2018 Corvette Grand Sport, one of the early consignors for the Fall Carlisle Auction, October 2-3, 2025. The Grand Sport Coupe has the Racing Yellow tintcoat exterior with Jet Black interior and the top level 3LT Perferred Equipment Group package. Note the Grand Sport chrome aluminum wheels and Carbon Fiber interior package. Most important, it has just 1,800 miles from new. The 6.2L V8 has direct injection and variable valve timing. The transmission is an 8-speed paddle shift automatic. It has remote vehicle start and custom red calipers. Check out new listings weekly for more Corvettes at Carlisle.

It really is beautiful, isn’t it? As Andy of Laguna Classic Cars will tell you in this video, this 1966 Corvette Convertible came from Arizona and is now in California. He shows you the exterior and interior in a video inspection (click the video window above.) As nice as the body is, wait till you see the undercarriage. That’s what an Arizona car looks like underneath. Take it for a test drive with Andy in the video. See how nice it handles? This car is smog exempt in California. Collector Cars with Low Miles
1956 Jaguar XK140 Roadster
When you have the opportunity to acquire a collector car with low miles, that’s what every collector wants to see. This week, Gullwing Motor Cars of New York listed this 1956 Jaguar XK140 Roadster with just 15k original miles. It is a two-owner car and they tell us it is numbers matching. That’s the perfect scenario. What’s more, they say it starts right up, runs and drives well. They note that it is highly original throughout. It was repainted once in the original color, light blue with the original red interior. With so many collectors out there chasing down Jaguar project cars that need expensive restorations, here is one that only needs regular maintenance. Now, that’s a good investment.
Here are more recent Low Miles additions:
1965 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 from Penticton, BC, 15,000 miles
1986 Lincoln Town Car, Orlando Classic Cars, FL, 21,000 miles

Project Vehicles for Restoration
1958 Jaguar XK150 S
A 1958 Jaguar XK150 S Roadster is a very rare find. Only 1,466 were produced in ’58. The “S” designation meant a high performance package with the Westlake heads, triple SU carburetors and increased compression. It is the most powerful engine Jaguar put in an XK150. This one from Gullwing Motor Cars in New York has been off the road for many years awaiting recommissioning. It is not currently running. But they note that it is numbers matching and has been owned by the same owner for the past 50 years. For a Jaguar afficianado this represents a great opportunity to own a rare XK150 S. It is one of a number of classic sports cars available this week in our Jaguar Section.

Price Reduced
1957 Ford Thunderbird
A Wisconsin collector has decided to lower the price on her classic 1957 Ford Thunderbird. She says her Ferrari red T-Bird must go. With a new black convertible top, it really looks sharp in the photos. It has an automatic transmission and power steering and brakes. She says the 312 V8 engine has been completely rebuilt with a Holley 4-barrel carburetor. The interior is all new, and look at those Kelsey-Hayes wheels in the photos.. That makes it a lotta’ car for the money. She was asking $45,000 up to today. But just this afternoon she dropped the price to $38,500.

Muscle Car Clones
Hemi Cuda Convertible
Real Hemi Cuda convertibles go for seven figure numbers. Most of us will never come close to owning one. But here is a Lemon Twist 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible Tribute that some of us might be fortunate enough to afford. It is a clone car built to drive and show. It is being offered for sale by Haggle Me, an internet broker that helps us Baby Boomers sell our collector cars on the internet. They tell us it only has about 380 miles on a fresh restoration. It has a stroked 480 ci Hemi engine and heavy duty 4-speed with the Dana 60 Sure Grip rear end. That’s a lotta’ car right there.
The following are more recently listed Muscle Car Clones:
1969 Camaro, Haggle Me, SS tribute
1970 Chevelle, Haggle Me, SS tribute

Deals of the Day
1940 Buick Limited
This 1940 Buick Limited Model 81 Touring Sedan is surely in an interesting price range. Do you have the phone in your hand, yet? This one may not last long. Finished in black with a grey interior and veneer trim, this classic American sedan has the elegance and panache to lure you into the collector car market. It is being offered for sale by Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles. They say it is a California car with an inline 8 cylinder engine and a three-on-a-tree manual transmission typical of the era. What makes it look extra sharp are the dual side-mounted spare tires. Note the steel wheels with Buick hubcaps. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. Their asking price is only $16,750. Hurry!
1951 Buick Roadmaster
Can’t get enough of these early Buick luxury cars! Here is a 1951 Buick Roadmaster 4-Door Sedan offered for sale by a private party in Indiana. He says it has been fully restored in maroon paint, new chrome, upholstery, radiator, and whitewall tires. This is the 1951 front valance with all the chrome. The Roadmaster came with a 320 ci inline Straight 8 engine which was called the “Fireball 8.” It was rated at 152 horsepower. It was a favorite of street racers. It also has a Dynaflow automatic transmission. And you know what a smooth ride it provides. This classic Buick will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. The asking kprice is $20,000.
1963 Ford Falcon Convertible
This 1963 Ford Falcon Convertible could be the sleeper deal of the week. The car is being offered for sale by a private party seller from Walhalla, North Dakota. It has a power top and an inline 6 cylinder engine. He tells us it is a rust free Arizona car with power steering and power brakes. According to the description it is in “excellent condition.” If you are interested in buying the car we recommend having it inspected by a third party professional inspector. He says the car has a “tear-free” clean interior and top. But he notes that the radio does not work. We hear that North Dakota doesn’t use salt on their roads. It would be interesting to see photos of the undercarriage. So it will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. The asking price is only $15,000.
1988 Mazda RX-7 Convertible
Our readers may have read our recent articles on Gen-Xers and Millenials getting into car collecting. One of the cars this younger generation seems to be especially interested in is the Mazda RX-7’s from the 1980’s. Here is a 1988 Mazda RX-7 Convertible which was just listed by Streetside Classics out of their Charlotte, North Carolina store. It has the 13B rotary engine, a truly remarkable power plant. It also has a 5-speed manual transmission. That will give you the sports car ride that the younger generation is hankering for. It comes with a power top and leather interior with cruise control. It will be interesting to see how long it takes to sell this convertible with the new following. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday next week. Their asking price is only $12,995.
2010 Camaro 2SS/RS
Seems like just yesterday that the Camaro 2SS was added to the retro Camaro lineup by Chevrolet. We thought the retro version of the RS/SS was going to be collectible from the gitgo. But just this week a private party seller from New Hampshire dropped the price on his 2010 Camaro 2SS/RS. It has the 62L V8 producing 426 horsepower and pulls through the gears on a 6-speed manual gearbox. He tells us the mileage is average at 69,884, and that it has always been garaged. The late model sports car looks good in the photos. However, you may want to have it inspected before you buy. But hurry! It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Wednesday next week. The asking price is only $19,500.
1960 Mercedes-Benz Ponton
Beverly Hills Car Club has done it again. This week they came up with this 1960 Mercedes-Benz Ponton 190B classic luxury car. It is not really a rare car since they made a lot of the Ponton 190B cars. They accounted for about 80 percent of Mercedes-Benz production in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s. But this is a more rare Left Hand Drive version. The black plate California car is still in its factory color of Medium Blue. It has a column shiftted 4-speed manual transmission and inline four cylinder engine with a Solex 2-barrel carburetor. Note the Mercedes-Benz hubcaps and Blaupunkt radio. The Ponton design is distinctive and represents an era in automotive history. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. The asking price is only $12,750.
1994 Corvette Coupe
In the 1990’s Polo Green was a very popular Corvette color. Here is a Polo Green 1994 Corvette Coupe which is being offered for sale by the Sovereign Auto Group in Michigan. They say it has 50,000 miles, and comes with leather bucket seats with driver side 6-way power, a removeable transparent Bronze tint roof and Turbine style alloy wheels with nice Kumho tires. It has Delco /puterize Bose premium audio and Gold Series AM/FM stereo with a CD player. The Corvette also has digital climate control, computerized trip monitor, digital speedometer and comes with an original owners manual. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week.
