Iconic Dodge Look
Dodge had quite a reputation for making great trucks during World War II so their truck business thrived following the war. They were known for their tough, durable design, advanced technology and powerful performance. The distinct cross-hair grille is a design cue that Dodge has carried over to today. That’s why this 1947 Dodge WC15 Pickup strikes such an iconic pose.
This rare look at a 1947 Dodge WC15 Pickup happened this week when a Canadian collector decided to put it up for sale on the Cars-On-Line site. This authentic looking WC is actually a restomod custom. Although it looks quite original, under the butterfly hood you’ll find a rebuilt Chevy 350 with Comp Cam and roller rockers. It powers down the road on a 700R4 rebuilt transmission and Technology Products shift kit. The adjustable coil over shocks improve the ride quality and the S/S exhaust proves a more modern sound than the old Flathead six.
There were actually 30 different models of WC trucks that year. This one would have been the WC15 half-ton. The WC series was a light 4-wheel-drive pickup. This one is a frame-off build on a classic pickup truck.

Classic Car News This Week
Surprise Entry at Kissimmee
We are at the Mecum Auction in Kissimmee this weekend to witness the largest collector car auction in the world as the Mecum team will be serving up 4,500 classic and specialty cars for sale during their two-week long event. The sale ends on Sunday. A big surprise showed up last Sunday when a 1947 Tucker appeared in the feature car display. It seems that it was a last minute entry which was not in the promo materials for the event. Other feature cars we will be watching this weekend include a factory ordered Moulin Rouge “Pink” 1970 Plymouth Superbird and a lineup of 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupes with one of every color offered that year. This is the 25th year of the Kissimmee auction by Mecum. Click here to review the report from Kissimmee by Bob Boberg of eClassicAutos.com.
Late Edition of Newsletter
Blurry eyed and almost snow blind we bring you this newsletter in the middle of one of the worst snow storms in recent memory. If you are receiving this newsletter later than usual today blame it on the “snow.” It knocked out our electricity here in the Cars-On-Line office for the entire work day. “Say, is that Generac backup generator still on back order?” You can bet they’re gonna’ hurry up that order after today. Stay safe this weekend and enjoy the newsletter.

It was built by Bill McGlaughlin’s Hot Rod Fabrication in Auburn, Washington. This week it was listed for sale by Precious Metals Classic Car Sales in Elkhart, Indiana. Dynotested at 700 mph, it is a custom build with too many one-off body mods to list here. The paint is Lexus Jade Mica oveer Silver Jade. The custom interior was done by Jon and Gabby Lind of Eugene, Oregon. The car has been featured in multiple magazine articles and has been immortalized in the Sony Gran Turismo 4 video game.
Jailbreak Challenger
In its final production year you can still get a rare Jailbreak edition 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. But hurry, these 2023 are in short supply. They were born to be collectible. This one in the Sublime Green Mopar color is one of only 300 Hellcats produced last year. The Jailbreak version comes loaded. And they say it will do 0 to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds. Muscle car enthusiasts will mourn the lose of the Challenger. It is one of the few cars out there that will get your heart pumping as you spin those wheels.
Auctions
GAA Classic Cars is no traveling car auction. They own their facility dedicated to our classic and specialty car auction always held in Greensboro, North Carolina. The next big GAA Auction will be held next month, February 22-24, 2024. It is their winter auction and the lineup of cars is growing everyday. We noticed quite a few of the cars and trucks in their auction inventory are being offered at NO RESERVE. Here are some of the top cars we spotted as they were being listed on the Cars-On-Line website this past week.
1939 Ford Deluxe Convertible
Our readers will be interested in this 1939 Ford Deluxe Convertible from Arizona. It is a good example of the kind of street rods you will find at the GAA Classic Winter Auction in Greensboro, NC next month, February 22-24, 2024. It has the traditional street rod equipment from the 1970’s with a Buick 401 V8 engine and 425 heads, Wheel Smith artillery wheels, woodgrain trim on the interior, Chrestliner steering wheel, distressed leather seats and door panels, tube shocks and a dropped front and rear. It has been upgraded with a 12-volt system, parallel leaf springs, air conditioning and turn signals. We will be watching on Friday, February 21 to see what it sells for since it will be offered at NO RESERVE.
Blown Porsche 924
There will be some crazy customs at this year’s GAA Classic Winter Auction, as always. This Blown 1978 Porsche 924 Pro Street is a great example. This is a custom built Porsche that is said to be street legal and a Pro Street. In addition to the 406 ci V8 with 6-71 BDS blower and dual 650 carbs, it comes equipped with a full interior roll cage, trans brakes, electric trans cooler, TCI 400 3-speed automatic MVB and Dana 60 rear end with Moser axles, fully tubbed. They say there are only 537 street driven miles on it since it was built. Underneath it was built on a powder coated full tubular chassis, full custom exhaust with electric cutouts and race cats and a custom 4-link suspenion with coil overs. Note the Weld Ultra Light drag wheels. This one-of-a-kind custom will be sold on Friday, February 21 at NO RESERVE.
1983 Jeep CJ-7
With a fresh hot rod engine, they say this 1983 Jeep CJ-7 spent most of its life in California, Arizona and New Mexico. It was repainted in its original color Sun Orange, although it now sports a Golden Eagle theme with eagle on the hood and Eagle emblems. After it was painted they added a new Bestop soft top with both soft doors and hard doors. You an see a Badland winch system and an aftermarket front bumper with matching rear bumper with receiver. This is the kind of custom off-road vehicle you would expect to find at the GAA Classic Winter Auction in Greensboro. It will be sold at NO RESERVE on Thursday, February 22, 2024.
2002 Camaro Z28 Convertible
Many car dealers from the Southeastern states will bring inventory to sell at the GAA Classic Winter Auction next month. That’s why you find such a good selection of late model sports cars at this event. This 2002 Camaro Z28 Convertible is the kind of car you are looking for. They say it has only 14k actual miles. It has the 5.7L V8 engine, an automatic transmission, beige leather interior and matching canvas soft top. Collector Cars with Low Miles
1969 ‘Cuda 440
This is one of the top muscle cars listed this week. It is a 1969 Plymouth ‘Cuda 440, a factory M Code Notchback. Very rare … they only made 19 of this Notchback edition. Because it was used for many years as a race car it survived with only 6,875 actual miles. After its campaign years, it was forgotten in storage. The Georgia seller says many magazine articles have been written about the car. He says it comes with a build sheet and lots of paperwork. Mopar collectors will be watching this one very closely.

1965 “Half Stang”
Humorously called a “Half Stang,” this 1965 Mustang has been made into a custom two-seater convertible sports car. Shortened, it has a custom removable hardtop. A seller from Orange Park, Florida just listed a 1955 Studebaker President for sale in our classic Studebaker Section. It will be our Deal of the Day on Sunday. The asking price is $19,950. It is hard to find a classic 1950’s Rock N Roll classic car for that kind of money.
1963 Ford Galaxie Sunliner
It is a rare color, and it is even more rare for a 1963 Ford Galaxie 500XL Sunliner to be in this type of condition. The advanced suspension comes with Flyin’ Miata Stage II Koni Suspension package, including adjustable components for a superior driving experience. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday. 2006 Jaguar XK8
Now here is a late model sports car you will have to drive in order to understand why everybody likes Jaguars. It is a 2006 Jaguar XK8 Coupe which still has only 67,674 original title verified miles. The aerodynamic looks of the car are enough to entice you to buy it, but the thing that will draw you in is how it drives. It is being offered for sale at the Classic Auto Mall in Morgantown, Pennsylvania. They were so impressed with how it drives, they say the acceleration was “very cat-like, and handling was the same.” It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. Their asking price is $15,000.
1984 Corvette
The first year of the C-4 edition of the Corvette was 1984. That should mean that the ’84’s would be very collectible. But for whatever reason they just never got much respect. That opens up an opportunity for a buyer to find a good one with low miles and a great price. So take a look at this 1984 Corvette just posted by American Classics Auto Trader in Florida. They just posted this ’84 with 68,576 documented miles. A collector knows that the build sheet and original window sticker helps make this a “future classic.” It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week. The asking price is only $11,988.
