Nomad for 1956
Chevy collectors know life began at Chevrolet in 1955 when the Bel Air got a huge facelift and the results were so spectacular that Chevrolet sold 1.8 million cars between the 150, 210 and Bel Air trim models, record breaking sales for the automotive industry at the time. The 1955, 1956 and 1957 Bel Air models are known in automotive history as the “Tri Fives.” The most popular of the Tri Fives is the 1957 (America’s car) followed by the 1955. The 1956 Bel Air was a beautiful car but most collectors give it the back seat to the ’57 and ‘55’s. Except for one model variation. When it comes to the Bel Air Nomad the 1956 stands out. There is something about the ’56 Bel Air trim and bumpers that just works on the Nomad.
Here is a 1956 Chevrolet Nomad Wagon that was just listed for sale this week by a private party seller from Traverse City, Michigan. You can see all the photos in his Slide Show ad at the link here. He calls it a full classic custom restoration with all the chrome and the trim totally redone. The lift gatte was sent out and totally rebuilt. There are many custom upgrades on this LS based Nomad. You might consider it to be a restomod.
The seller says the car was finished in December of 2015. It has only 3,000 miles on it since the redo. No expense was spared. A complete disassembly was done, new sheet metal where it was necessary and the car is equipped with a big cool radiator, AC condenser, stainless steel handbuilt exhaust system, Soundsystem.

Classic Car News This Week
Future Collectibles
About a year ago we did an article on cars that are ripe to escalate in value in today’s collector car market. The story carved out some of the specialty cars and muscle cars that have not gotten as much respect as prices surged during the past two decades. In this article we think we got it right when we noted the emerging popularity of the 1969-1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1. If we learned anything recently it is that the first generation Mach 1’s are some of the best looking muscle cars ever produced, and we are talking about the M Code 351 Clevelands (of course, the Cobra Jet Mach 1’s have been at nose bleed prices for decades now.) You can still get them at reasonable prices today. But prices are already going up on M Codes as you read this. Historic Ferrari
The only 1962 Ferrari GTO to be raced by the Scuderia Team will be offered for sale at an RM Sotheby’s Auction in November. The build up to the sale has begun. Last week there was a CNBC news item about it. Another 1962 Ferrari GTO was auctioned off by RM Sotheby’s in 2018 for $48 million. That was the record highest sale ever at the time (which has since been broken.) The sale happened at an RM Auction during Monterey Car Week as a prelude to the Pebble Beach Concours in 2018. RM Sotheby’s estimates that this 1962 Ferrari GTO (seen here in No.7 livery) might bring as high as $60 million. It won the race at the Nurburgring and was driven by Lorenzo Bandini for Scuderia at the 24 Hours of Lemans. There were 36 GTO Ferraris built in 1962 with only 250 built in all years. You will be hearing more about this upcoming sale as we draw closer to the November sale date.

Street Beast
They call it the “Street Beast” and it looks like it lives up to the name. A 1934 Ford Hot Rod was listed for sale this week by North Shore Classics in Mundelein, Illinois. The body is by Innovative Street Machines. But the engine is a 350 Chevy small block with 6-71 blower and Holley carbs. Ford F-350 XLT
When you do off-roadin’ you have to have the right equipment. That means everything has to be built right. So check out this jacked 1995 Ford F-350 XLT being offered for sale at Cassandra’s Motorsports in Pewaukee, Wisconsin this week. It almost looks too pretty to get dirty. It is a show truck as well as a “go” truck. Look at the photos and you will see that it has been driven, but cleans up real nice afterwards. The Dark Lapis metallic paint shows well in the photos. It has a 7.5L V8 Fuel Injected with 16 valves. Check out the photos. The suspension looks all new. This truck also is affordably priced.
