Ford’s E-Bird
The first generation of Ford Thunderbirds are considered highly desirable classic cars, but even among these hot collectibles there is a hierarchy in values. Some of the most valuable T-Birds are the E-Code Thunderbirds produced only in 1957. Ford Motor Company could see the growing interest in performance vehicles even back in ’57. Their popular T-Bird sports car needed an upgrade, so they produced a limited number of them equipped with a dual quad 4-barrel 312 ci V8 designated as E-Code. Today they are known as “E-Birds.” Only 1,499 were ever built in ’57. It was a one-year only experiment on the first generation Thunderbirds
This week a very special ZZ Coral Sand colored 1957 Ford Thunderbird E-Bird was listed for sale by Classical Gas Enterprises. They are an internet broker that lists cars for sale online for their collector clientele. This car is located in the state of Washington. It has won the prestigious Classic Thunderbird Club International Gold award for its concours level restoration. It was purchased at the Barrett-Jackson Auction and tucked away into a famous E-Bird Collection. This particular E-Bird has unique featues, including the Master Guide power steering, Swift Sure power brakes, telescoping steering wheel and Lifeguard seat belts. It also features the full dressup engine kit.
The factory E-Code has a Ford-O-Matic transmission, polished dual exhaust, and all the chrome and stainless are restored to show standards, according to the description. Classical Gas tells us that everything on the car is in working order. The odometer still shows only 5,026 miles. It has been updated for cruising on modern roads and keeping up with traffic. Classic Car News This Week

Top Collector Cars Today
The collector car market is ever changing these days. The hot trend in the market in the past few months has been the emergence of 1975 to 1979 Porsche 930 Turbo sports cars. The precision engineered 911 Turbos have always been popular, but in recent months their prices at auction have been surging. The early 3.0L edition “930 Turbos” are now out pacing the later 3.3L versions due to how rare it is to find one in this market. Hagerty has them at $160,000 to $220,000. However, nine 930 Turbos were sold in February, eight of which went for between $200,000 and $300,000. That is a significant increase over what they were selling for last spring. One of them sold for $451,000 at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in January 2026. The prevalent reasoning for their recent popularity is that Gen-X and Millenial generation buyers grew up with the 930 Turbo posters on their bedroom walls. Now they have the opportunity to own their dream cars. Documentation, condition and provenance still play a big part in those higher priced sales.

Ridler Award Winner
In front of an audience of international fans and spectators, Barry Meguiar announced the winner of the coveted Ridler Award at the Detroit Autorama last weekend. Rex Satterfield from Russellville, TN, was given the award for his 1956 Chevrolet Convertible he calls “Elegant Lady.” Meguiar’s was the title sponsor for the 73rd Annual Detroit Autorama, the home of the Ridler Award. The show, which is also presented by O’Reily Auto Parts, is the annual event that gains worldwide accolades for its gathering of some of the best custom builds in the country. Of the hundreds of cars at the show, only the top eight cars are chosen to be among the 2026 BASF Great 8 finalists. The winner was announced on Sunday, March 1, 2026 at Huntington Place in downtown Detroit, during the culmination of the three-day show. The ’56 Ragtop is now one of the most famous custom creations in the world. It was built on an Art Morrison chassis with a Kugel rear end. The engine is a Whipple Supercharged LS2 putting out about 1,000 horsepower.

This Weeks Featured Stories
1953 Buick Skylark
The 1953 Buick Skylark Convertible was what historians call a “Halo” car designed by GM’s Harley Earl to “show off” Buick’s dominant ability to produce high end luxury cars for the upper income new car buyers of the day. The design of the body was ground breaking with a lowered stance and beltline. Much of the body was hand built, making the Skylark convertible so expansive to build that it is said the Buick lost money every time they sold one. It featured the 322 ci V8 engine and a new 12-volt electrical system. It was the beginning of Buick’s full chrome package. Only 1,690 were ever produced and they are rare to find today. The red convertible was just listed for sale by Haggle Me, an internet broker out of Indiana. It was housed in a museum for many years. Contact them for more information and photos.
Chevelle SS LS6
This rare 1970 Chevelle SS LS6 454 was just listed for sale by RK Motors Charlotte. They say it has been documented by Chris White, the famous Chevelle Super Sport historian. You see it here in Cranberry Red finish with black SS stripes. Under the hood is the Hemi killer, Chevrolet’s 454/450 horsepower monster big block engine which is mated to an M22 “Rock Crusher” 4-speed manual transmission, the hot setup of the era. It puts power to the ground via a 12-bolt rear axle with 4.10 Positraction. This one also has the F41 suspension package for performance cars. With power front disc brakes and a Hurst shifter, it is set up just right. Note the cowl induction hood with hood pins. It has been updated with Bluetooth capability and a great sound system. It currently shows 32,282 miles. Click here to watch a walk-around video and hear it run.
Rare K2 Allard Roadster
This 1952 Allard K2 Roadster represents a transition point in sports car history. It bridged the gap between pre-war and post-war sports cars and used American V8 engines to boost performance. The K2 Allard was a street focused production in contrast to its sibling J2 which was totally a track car. Fewer than 120 K2’s were ever built. They figure that less than 50 still exist. You don’t see them for sale very often, but this week Classical Gas Enterprises listed one for sale. It is powered by a Cadillac 331 ci OHV V8 engine fed by a pair of 4-barrel carburetors. They figure it put out between 250 and 270 horsepower. Pretty good for a car that weighed only 2,000 pounds. This K2 was part of a famous collection and was raced on the West Coast and in Canada. It has made appearances at some of the most prestigious car shows in the country, including Pebble Beach.
Auctions

Mark your calendars for the Spring Carlisle Collector Car Flea Market and Auction in historic Carlisle, Pennsylvania. It is one of the oldest and most respected collector car events in the country. What we like about this great car show is the Spring Carlisle Auction at the Expo Center across from the fairgrounds. This year the auction will be held on April 23-24, 2026. They have just begun to list some of their auction inventory on our website. Here are a few of the vehicles we noticed will be offered for sale to the highest bidder next month.
1967 Yenko Camaro Tribute
An over the top 1967 Yenko Camaro Tribute is among the new inventory just posted to be auctioned off at the upcoming Spring Carlisle Auction at the Carlisle Fairgrounds, April 23-24, 2026. They say this Marina Blue Camaro RS/SS with the white Bumble Bee stripe now has a 427/450 hp power plant with solid lifters and transfers power via a Muncie 4-speed to a 12-bolt Posi rear end. Of course, it has the Yenko correct hood and Yenko emblems. In fact, they say it is an exact duplicate of one of the 54 original Yenko Supercars produced in 1967 at Yenko Chevrolet. They say it has an all-new suspension and updated electric headlight doors for the hidden headlights. But it does have the knee-knocker tach and SW gauges. You won’t have to pay a quarter million $$ for this one, though. How much do you think it will sell for at the hammer?
1970 Boss 302 Mustang
Also in the sale will be Lot 495.1, a Grabber Yellow 1970 Boss 302 Mustang just like the one Parnelli Jones drove to win the SCCA Trans Am Championship in 1970. It has a black inteiror, 302 Boss engine and a close ratio 4-speed toploader tranmsission. They also say it is “numbers matching.” The 74,430 miles showing on the odometer are said to be actual miles on a Maryland title. It is a “survivor” class muscle car, very unique, which is said to be 99 percent original. They say there was no bodywork needed on this car ever, and remains rust free and they say it “runs perfect.” The paint is beautiful which is amazing because this is a 53-year-old car. It has color-keyed racing mirrors, high back bucket seats, power front disc brakes, quick ratio steering, sport slats and a functional front spoiler with a rear deck spoiler. The full Marti Report goes with.
1969 Shelby GT350
Immediately following the Boss 302, a Candy Apple Red 1969 Shelby GT350 Mustang will cross the auction floor at the Spring Carlisle Auction. They say it is a numbers matching example with a 351 Windsor small block V8 engine and a toploader 4-speed manual transmission. The engine is stamped 9T18 so it is thought to be original to the car. With only 35,847 miles showing on the odometer, the Carlisle people say there is no documentation but they believe the miles are accurate. The original 5-spoke Shelby wheels were restored by Paradise Wheels of California. All the Shelby items are intact, according to the ad description. That includes the fog lamps and sequential rear turn signals. It has its original dash VIN plate and door warranty tag. It is currently in the SAAC Registry.
More of the Spring Carlisle Auction inventory will be listed for sale during the week. Click this link to see listings being updated often in the next few weeks.

It has a 5.0 liter V8 engine and automatic transmission. They are offering this remarkable find for sale today. Project Vehicles for Restoration
1975 Ferrari Dino 308 GT4
Although this 1975 Ferrari Dino 308 GT4 looks great in the photos, the folks at Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles tell us it needs a recommissioning before it could be road ready. They get a lot of vehicles out of long-term storage, and often they need to be gone through to bring them back to their former glory. This one in Bianco Polo paint could be worth some money someday. It is gaining increased appreciation in the collector car community. Equipped with a 5-speed manual transaxle and a 2.9 liter V8 engine, its angular Bertone styling sets it apart from other Ferraris of the era. In a 2+2 configuration, it comes with air conditioning and Veglia instruments, with 14-inch Cromodora alloy wheels. The quad exhaust tips and GT4 badging really stand out. Inside you find toggle switch controls, a Blaupunkt radio and distinctive Italian design. Check out the prices these go for on the internet. This one might be a money maker.

Boss 302 Laguna Seca
A New Mexico car enthusiast posted his 2012 Boss 302 Mustang Laguna Seca special edition for sale. It is the Black and Red edition with only 2,800 miles when it was listed. He used it only to drive to local car shows, according to his ad description. He says it still looks new. The Laguna Seca edition was born to be collectible. In many respects it was a track-ready road course race car named after the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca race track in California. It has stiffer springs and revised dampers with larger stabilizer bars. Note the rear spoiler and front splitter. The unique sound is created by a quad exhaust. When the private party seller originally listed the Boss Mustang he was asking $55,000. But just this week he dropped the price to $50,000. Does it belong in a museum, or in your garage?

This exceptional AAR Cuda replica was painstakingly recreated using a 1973 Barracuda chassis, with hundreds of hours invested in sourcing correct, date-coded components and accurately replicating factory AAR specifications. Although it has the appearance of having the original Six Pack under the hood, it now has an E55 340 ci V8, date coded 11-20-1969, with EZ-EFI 4-barrel fuel injection, replacing original Six Pack carbs for improved reliability. Deals of the Day
1963 Chevy Nova SS
You are not going to find a real Super Sport Nova at this price anywhere else. Rare Rides, a classic car dealer in Statesville, North Carolina, has this 1963 Chevy Nova SS Convertible for sale this week at an affordable price point. They say it is a bit of a project because the body shows its age and has had repairs. An older repaint, the paint needs to be redone. The interior also shows age. You should note that the horn, radio, speedometer and heater are not working. You should also inspect the quarter panels, wheel arches and floor pans for rust. It is a six cylinder Nova which has been converted to a 3-speed manual transmission. They say it drives out real nice, though. Have it inspected before you buy. But hurry! The asking price is attractive. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. Their price is $19,995.
1953 Studebaker Starliner
The 1953 Studebaker Starliner is one of the classic Studebakers that transcends time. Hot rod builders love the lines and they are often made into gorgeous customs. It’s design shows the evolution of the Champion Regal model lines that are almost more European looking than American for its era. This one looks original although it has some interesting performance upgrades, i.e., Weiand High Performance aluminum heads, Ofenhauser intake and dual Solex carburetors. It has a 3-speed manual transmission has a hybrid 12-volt to 6-volt electrical system. The handsome burgundy over Ivory Mist paint gives it a distinctive look. This one is being offered for sale by Haggle Me, an internet broker representing their client/owner. You may have it inspected before you buy to get an idea of the condition class. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. Their asking price is only $18,900.

1970 Pontiac Grand Prix J
This 1970 Pontiac Grand Prix Model J sure takes a nice picture. The private party seller from Jefferson, Wisconsin tells us it is “super solid” with a “decent” interior which will need to be redone someday. So he considers it to be a “great running and driving project car.” He says the drivetrain is “strong.” He has had the heads professionally redone, with a date correct quadrajet carburetor rebuilt, new points in a rebuilt distributor. He says the transmission has been fully serviced and shifts strong. The engine has new wiring harness, battery, alternator and starter. On the other hand, he says the car needs paint, exhaust and comprehensive carburetor setup and tuning. Look at the third photo of the top. He says he recently removed a vinyl top and found rust. The hood tach does not work and the air conditioning will have to be serviced. Plus the gas gauge does not work. The challenges here are many. It might help to have a full pre-purchase isnpection done to determine the condition class. But hurry! It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. His asking price is $11,900.
1964 Oldsmobile 98 Holiday
Known for its innovation in engineering, the mid-1960’s were good years for Oldsmobile. In 1964, they sold over a half-million cars, making it one of its best years up to that time. The design of this 1964 Oldsmobile 98 Holiday Sport Hardtop might have been one of their best efforts. You might say the body lines were elegantly rounded. It is being offered for sale this week at Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles. It is powered by a V8 engine with an automatic transmission and 4-barrel carburetor. Equipment includes power steering and drum brakes that provide the correct period driving feel. Dual exhaust outlets add a sporty touch, and rear fender skirts enhance the long, flowing body lines. It has a red interior with a power adjustable bench seat and power windows. The full size car offers luxurious comfort, but delivers sport performance. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday next week. Their asking price is $15,750.
1952 Chrysler Saratoga
Chrysler produced a model called the Saratoga from 1939 until 1952. The model is known for its legendary 1951-52 models that introduced the 331 Hemi-powered cars. They were reknown for their early NASCAR and stock car racing performance. However, 1952 was the last year Chrysler made the Saratoga. This week a rare 1952 Chrysler Saratoga was listed for sale by Unique Classic Cars in Mankato, Minnesota. The exterior photos really look good, although the interior shots show a “driver quality” condition at best. The under carriage and engine compartment will need detailing. A good pre-purchase inspection is recommended before you buy. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Wednesday next week, however. Their asking price is $14,900. Interesting find!
1974 Triumph TR6
Beverly Hills Car Club also listed a Pimento Red 1974 Triumph TR6 Roadster for sale this week at a very interesting price point. With a complementing black interior, this is the “right look” for a British sports car back in the day. The inexpensive Triumph motorcar was an inexpensive way to enjoy open air motoring in the 1970’s. This one has a six cylinder engine with dual Zenith carburetors and a 4-speed manual transmission. The little roadster has front disc brakes, dual exhaust and Smiths instruments on a wood trim dashboard. The car rides on Michelin red-line tires mounted on 15-inch steel wheels with TR6-branded center caps. Its timeless appeal translates well to open air driving today. It is a delight to find for such a low price. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. The asking price is $14,750.
2001 Jaguar XKR Convertible
Remember when the Jaguar XK series was revived in 1996 with the XK8? All of us who yearned for the E-Type XKE Jaguars again celebrated. Then in 1998 Ford gave Jaguar XK’s an extra boost when they created the Supercharged 4.0 V8 XKR. That was exhilarating. But, wait! Just this week Rare Rides in North Carolina listed a 2001 Jaguar XKR Supercharged Convertible for sale. Here is your chance to own the next generation of XK Jaguars for cheap! They say the Platinum Silver Jaguar has just over 86,000 actual miles and comes with a clean Carfax. It has power everything, including a power top and leather interior. Dozens of detailed photos on the ad page show a clean interior and a clean under carriage. I think you will agree that this is a lotta’ car for the money. It will be our DEAL of the DAY if it lasts that long. Their asking price is $14,995.
