1950’s Time Machine
A Tropical Rose over Showshoe White 1955 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria is literally dripping in nostalgia. Wherever it goes it sets off juke boxes and lights up old drive-ins. These cars play the sounds of the Fifties in our heads and are time machines that remember the sights and sounds from our collective pasts.
This week the Charlotte area location for Streetside Classics listed this ’55 Crown Victoria with the rare paint and trim. They say it floats down the road with ease. The 292 ci V8 with a Holley 4-barrel delivers a smooth idle and makes it a solid driver. It has power drum brakes and power steering. Although it has a factory stock appearance, it has been updated with glasspack style dual exhaust and air conditioning. Check out the vinyl two-tone interior in the ad photos. They have dozens of detailed photos at the link above.
Ford’s Crown Victoria was an innovative design starting in 1955. For its era it was considered “futuristic” and “space age” in its look and feel. The “crown” chromed roof band was its salient virtue. It was a signal from Ford Motor Company that a new automotive renaissance was about to explode on the new car buying horizon. The more powerful V8 engines and “jet age” design were the new aethos represented by wrap around windshields and two-tone paint jobs. The 1950’s would leave a lasting impression on automotive design and art culture.
Streetside Classics tells us this Crown Victoria is a reliable performer that blends classic style with tasteful upgrades. Its eye-catching appearance and solid mechanics make it a great candidate for both cruising and local shows. Don’t miss this chance to bring joy to the hearts of your friends and fans as you enjoy the reaction it draws from everyone who sees it.

Most Popular Car
Our Google Analytics tells us that the most popular car on our site this week was a 1938 Chevrolet Deluxe Cabriolet from Georgia. It was kind of a barn find having come out of storage after 50 years. They say it was painted 60 years ago. The seller says it has minor rust in the lower quarters and cowl. But he says it runs quiet as a pocket watch. He also says it drives and stops well. Our statistics say this car has had 1,909 views by prospective buyers. I guess that’s what it takes to sell a project car like this one. The seller has marked this car as SOLD. The Cars-On-Line.com Project Car Section is the most popular page on our site. It often gets first position ranking on the major search engines. You will find cars such as this Chevy Cabriolet in our Project Car Section each week.

1969 Boss 429 Mustang
A Royal Maroon 1969 Boss 429 Mustang was just listed for sale yesterday in our Mustang Section online. The private party seller is from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He says it has been a show car and was a magazine feature car. It often happened back in the day that these race ready engines had to be replaced. This one has a date code correct service block, unstamped, and built with Ford Boss performance parts and dyno’d at 600 horsepower. He says it runs on pump gas and has wonderful street manners. He says the car is in “absolute show quality” and “drives wonderfully.” He has only put on 200 miles since he’s owned it. You can imagine the care with which this Big Block muscle car is kept.
Ferrari 512 TR
Although the Testarossa flat 12 Ferraris have not always been top Ferrari collectibles, they seem to be coming into their own now. After all, the Testarossa was the first 12 cylinder exotic supercar that Ferrari made available to the U.S. market. Here is a 1992 Ferrari 512 TR (Testarossa) just posted for sale by Legendary Motorcar Company. Check all the photos at the link. A Nero (black) version is pretty rare to find. The Testarossa (Redhead) had those iconic long strakes in the sides of the body to ventillate the side mounted radiators. That radical look is what made the Testarossa stand out. Today, the cars of the 1980’s are becoming very popular among younger collectors, and the Testarossa’s are fitting right into that category.

Deals of the Day
1966 Dodge Charger
Beverly Hills Car Club is a long time contributor to the Cars-On-Line website. We have to congratulate them this week for a stellar lineup of affordable classic cars. They just posted this 1966 Dodge Charger for sale. The classic Mopar muscle car looks good in the ad photos. This is the first-year edition for the Charger nameplate, the first in a long line of performance Mopars with the Charger name. It is factory Light Blue with blue vinyl upholstery. It has the workhorse 318 ci V8 updated with Holley Sniper fuel Injection, Holley Hyperspark distributor and Poly SS-X finned valve covers. The first generation Chargers had the hide-away headlights, dual exhaust stylish wheel covers and bucket seats with extended center console. This one has disc brakes. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. Their asking price is $19,750.
1955 Ford Thunderbird
We will remind out readers once again about what we always say, “If you find a classic first gen Ford Thunderbird for less than $30,000 in high No. 3 or better condition … buy it.” This 1955 Ford Thunderbird just listed for sale by The Throttlestop, in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, fits the bill. They tell us it is an exceptionally authentic example showing just 9,330 miles on the odometer. And this one has a rare manual transmission. Torch red is a first year only color. Powered by a Y-block 292 ci V8 engine, it is said to have factory correct features throughout. Note the red and white Thunderbird interior. Click here to watch a walk-around video and hear it run. With the low miles, the rarity of features and its originality, you would not expect to own it for this price. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. The asking price is $25,900. Hurry!!!
1982 Datsun 280ZX
Here is another great deal from Beverly Hills Car Club today. This 1982 Datsun 280ZX is just what the Millenial generation is craving for. Back in the day many here in the U.S. considered it a Corvette alternative. The stellar look and stance really set it apart from anything else on the road. This one is seen here in Dark Brown metallic paint with a Beige interior. In has its fuel-injected inline 6 cylinder engine with an automatic transmission, power assisted front disc brakes, removable glass roof, air conditioning, cruise control, a front spoiler and ZX Turbo wheels. It is the full package. This one has a center console and Kenwood radio. This is one of the first Japanese sports cars to have turbocharged performance. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. Their asking price is $10,750.
1972 Ford Bronco
Another of the Beverly Hills Car Club fresh listings was for a very affordable 1972 Ford Bronco. Classic Bronco off-road vehicles are so hot in this market that some get over six figures in a sale. Well, here is one at a total discount to that kind of money. This classic off roader has rugged charm with its black finish and white removable hardtop. It has the 4-wheel drive system that Ford made famous and V8 4-barrel power mastered by an automatic transmission. It has what they call a “family roll cage,” chrome bumpers and 15-inch steel wheels. Where the rubber meets the road they have 15-inch wheels, Falken tires and dual exhaust. Here is a chance to own a piece of automotive history for cheap. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday next week. Their asking price is $26,500.
1964 Mercury Caliente
This one could be the sleeper deal of the week. Beverly Hills Car Club posted a 1964 Mercury Comet Caliente Convertible yesterday. The Caliente convertible is the cousin to Ford’s Falcon Futura convertible. It was Mercury’s early entry into the sports car market. This one, seen here in factory Carnival Red with a two-tone interior, is equipped with a black soft top. We know that is has a V8 engine with 4-barrel carburetor and automatic transmission. They also say it has front disc brakes, 17-inch chrome wheels and dual exhaust. Check out dozens of detailed photos on the ad page at the link. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Wednesday next week (if it lasts that long.) Their asking price is only $15,750.
1986 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur
Elegant in its long lean body style, this 1986 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur is said to come from a long line of upper class owners. This one has just been listed through Classical Gas Motors in Texas. They provide sales power to Baby Boomers who are digitally challenged so they can sell on the internet. Naturally, it glides down the road and performs as a chauffered limousine should. The longer wheel base separates it from its Silver Spirit siblings. Note the 15-inch wheels with Rolls-Royce hubcaps and Vogue radial tires. This treasure of late model Rolls-Royce lineage is said to be very stock original and clean. A more modern R134a compressor has been installed so the AC blows cold. Click here to watch a walk-around video inspection. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. Their asking price is $18,500.
1979 Mercedes 450SL
And, last, but not least, Beverly Hills Car Club has listed a 1979 Mercedes-Benz 450SL Convertible for sale in Silver Green metallic with a price you just can’t beat. Surprisingly, for this price, they say it is a well-equipped R107 that will make a great weekend cruiser and remains mechanically sound. Take a look at the Cognac leather interior. It also has a convertible top and color-match removable hardtop. Mercedes reliable V8 engine powers this elegant roadster while stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes. It has twin exhaust tips, power steering, VDO instruments, European headlights, Bosch front foglights, color matched Mercedes hubcaps and a tool roll in the trunk. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. Their asking price is $12,750.
