The Boss is Back
If you had an extra half million dollars to spend and wanted to find a real deal 1969 Mustang Boss 429 muscle car to buy, you might be disappointed to find out that there just aren’t many on the market these days. Most of them are quietly tucked away in big private collections where they don’t see the light of day. But just this week one popped up in our Mustang Section for sale, and it is a beauty.
Ideal Classic Cars out of Venice, Florida listed this Candy Apple Red 1969 Mustang Boss 429 for sale. It is KK # 2011, one of the later Boss 429’s produced at Ford’s Kar Kraft plant in Brighton, Michigan. Only 859 Boss 9’s were built in ’69. You will find the Marti Report at the end of the photo stack on their ad page at the link. It was sold in August of 1969 at Hub Motor Company in Atlanta, Georgia. Equipped from the factory with the 429 4V Boss V8 engine, it has a 4-speed close ratio manual transmission and 3.91 Traction-Lok rear axle. The ad specs say it has 55,538 miles. They say it now has a correct RUG AE2 Ford Top-Loader 4-speed and correct WFD-D Traction-Lok differential with a 9” axle w/nodular iron differential case. The hood scoop is functional and it has a Hurst shifter.
The photos show a close to perfect example with great body lines and finish. Note how clean the Deluxe Décor Group vinyl weave interior looks, maybe better than when it was new. The engine compartment and undercarriage are incredible. They describe the chrome as “shimmering.”
In a twist of corporate manipulation, the NASCAR KK 1969 Boss 429 Mustang was one of the most successful homologation stories in NASCAR history, even though the revered Boss 9 Mustang never took the track in competition. In order to get the KK Boss 429 motor certified for NASCAR competition Ford had to produce a street version of a car that used the Boss 429 big block Semi-Hemi engine. Although Ford raced this motor in their Ford Torino in NASCAR competition, they believed they would sell more cars if they put the Boss 9 motor in their most popular seller, the Mustang Pony car, for homologation. Today these cars are more valuable than a Hemi Cuda.

Testarossa Returns as Hypercar
The Testarossa name is one that is infused with Ferrari history. The 1950’s Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa was a legendary race car driven by Phil Hill for a victory in the 1958 24 Hours of Lemans and the 12 Hours of Sebring. Then, in the 1980’s, Ferrari brought back the name for their Testarossa exotic supercar as seen in later versions of the Miami Vice TV show. But there has been no Testarossa in the Ferrari stable since the mid-1990’s … until now. The new 849 Testarossa is a hybrid electric hypercar with a V8 powertrain producing over 1,000 combined horsepower. Ferrari’s Twin Turbo 4.0L F154 V8 engine produces 818 horsepower alone, and when boosted by three electric motors gets an additional 216 horsepower. The 1,036 horsepower can launch the 849 Testarossa from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 2.3 seconds. The top speed is a scary 205 miles per hour. The 849 Testarossa will come in two model types, the standard Gallo Moderna, and the Asetto Ferrano. The latter brings even more aggressive aerodynamics to play and is a little lighter than the standard model. You can order your Testarossa for delivery in 2026. Click here to “build your Testarossa” on the Ferrari configurator.
Auto Restoration Degrees
There is a great deal of concern that our classic car knowledge base may “pass away” with the Baby Boom generation. That is a daunting thought. One ray of hope exists at a private college campus in Kansas. McPherson College, in McPherson, Kansas, north of Witchita, offers the nation’s only bachelor’s degree in Automotive Restoration. Students from all over the world are applying to this unique program at McPherson. (Click here to watch a Fox Business news report on McPherson’s Automotive Restoration program.)
They say there were 160 applicants for the 60 slots available at the school. Currently about 175 students are enrolled in the program. It is supported by car collectors from around the country, including former TV host Jay Leno who finances two scholarships to the program. The curriculum includes everything from engine building to upholstery, wood crafts and metal fabrication. How successful is the program in getting jobs for its graduates? The vice-president of Automotive Restoration at McPherson says 95 percent of graduates find an interesting job within six months of graduation. This is a win-win for the classic car hobby. This Weeks Featured Stories
’68 Torino Indy Pace Car
They say this 1968 Ford Torino Cobra Indy Pace Car Convertible was carefully restored, and you can see why. It is the rarest Pace Car in existence. Out of 709 Pace Car editions sold by Ford in 1968, only two came from the factory with the 428 CJ “R” Code engine. And the other car is long gone. It is now being offered for sale through REV Muscle Cars, an internet broker representing a private collection. It was purchased new by famous racer Ed Merkle. He and his son converted the car for Super Stock racing. After many iterations, the big block Torino has been restored to its original Wimbeldon White with Indy Pace Car livery. The 428 CJ was rebuilt and has its original manifolds, CJ intake, Holley 735 carb and rebuilt C6 with correct R-servo and steel tailshaft. The original 9-inch Detroit Locker remains with 4.86 gears. The suspension has been freshened, new seals, belts and hoses. Click here to view their walk-around video and hear it run. This Pace Car is the rarest of the rare … ready to be the centerpiece of any serious collection.
Shelby Series 1
Carroll Shelby was a monumental figure in the automotive industry, an innovator and designer of performance cars that are legendary. But in the 1990’s he wanted to create a car from the ground up, something he had never done before. (His Cobras were produced by AC Bristol and his Mustangs were made by Ford.) So to make the perfect performance car he designed the Shelby Series 1, a limited edition exotic supercar with everything a race car driver could want. Way ahead of its time for a production car, the Shelby Series 1 used a carbon fiber body made by Venture Industries that weighed only 130 pounds. The body panels were aluminum and the floorboards were honeycombed with carbon fiber. The whole car weighed only 2,650 pounds even though it was a full three inches wider than a Corvette. The chassis was made from extruded aluminum parts and the suspension could easily be custom tuned since it was also made of aluminum with four-wheel independent movement of upper and lower control arms, adjustable shocks and coil springs that pounced with Formula 1 style inboard rocker arms. This week a 1999 Shelby Series 1 was listed for sale at Streetside Classics’ Atlanta store. It still has only 2,435 actual miles. This is the ultimate car to collect. Owning this car continues the legacy of Carroll Shelby. It will be the central piece in your collection.
1958 Eldorado Biarritz Convertible
If Cadillacs are the gold standard for the collector car hobby, than this 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible stands as a status symbol of American luxury and extravagance in the Rock N Roll 1950’s era. Its bold styling with big tailfins were tell-tale signs of the “space age” mentality that permeated the times. This incredible example in Desert Gold paint and original Canyon Copper Buffalo leather interior is being offered for sale this week by Carolina Muscle Cars in Benson, North Carolina. They say it is in “highly original condition.” It is car number 18 out of only 815 produced that year. It comes with chrome plated Sabre wheels, power steering and power brakes, 6-way power front seats, vanity lights, an Autronic Eye headlight dimming sensor, power windows and a fiberglass parade boot. See dozens of beautiful photos on the ad page at the link.
Auctions

We are anticipating one of the biggest events of the fall auction season. The GAA Classic Fall Auction will be held in Greensboro, North Carolina early next month, November 6-8, 2025. Over 750 vehicles are set to cross the auction block. We consider this auction to be the best barometer of what prices should be on these top end collector cars. Collectors should take notes. Classic car dealers from throughout the Southeastern U.S. will be on hand to buy special cars for their inventories. And countless more from all over the country will be buying online or over the phone. Here are some of the cars that will be sold on Saturday at the GAA Classic Fall Auction.
1958 Chevrolet Impala Convertible
First year Chevy Impala convertibles are among the most sought after collector cars on the planet. It will be interesting to see what this Rio Red 1958 Chevrolet Impala Convertible will sell for in two weeks when it crosses the auction block at the GAA Classic Fall Auction in Greensboro, North Carolina. It has the iconic red tri-tone interior and comes with the highly desirable 348 ci V8 engine and a batwing air cleaner. They tell us it has had a frame-off concourse period correct restoration, and is dressed out with fender skirts, a Continental kit and a white power convertible top. It even has the famous tissue dispenser so often talked about. They say the paint and chrome have a mirror finish. Click here to watch a walk-around video and hear it run.
1966 Shelby GT350H
This fall you will see one of the best selections of muscle cars ever offered at the GAA Classic Auction. With a Hemi Superbird and a handful of Shelby Mustangs on the auction docket, it is a great opportunity to find a high end muscle car at a great price. One we will be watching is this 1966 Shelby GT350H Hertz “Rent-a-Racer” with the Black & Gold Hertz livery. You will find it on the auction docket on Saturday. They say it has benefitted from a total concours restoration completed in March of 2025 by Conover Racing & Restoration Inc of Hanover, Pennsylvania. They say it has a date coded radiator, VIN stamped engine, C-Servo automatic transmission and the C6ZF-F carburetor. Be sure to check out all the photos. The engine compartment is so clean.
2024 Corvette Z06 Convertible
As always, there will be a great selection of late model sports cars being offered at this year’s GAA Classic Fall Auction. Be sure to check out all the photos of this beautiful Torch Red 2024 Corvette Z06 Convertible mid-engine sports car. The convertible Corvette comes with the LT6 5.5L high performance engine rated at 670 horsepower. With the 8-speed automatic transmission they say it will do 0 to 60 in 2.6 seconds. At the time of production this was the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 engine ever. The track ready Corvette chassis was co-designed by Corvette Racing. It is considered a “supercar” the likes of Ferrari and McLaren. Click here to watch a walk-around video and hear it run.
And there are many more collector cars and trucks to be offered at this year’s Fall GAA Classic Auction in Greensboro. Click here to view some of the top cars already on the docket as advertised here on the Cars-On-Line.com dealer network.

2005 Ford GT
A stripe delete 2005 Ford GT was listed for sale this week by No Reserve Classics in New Jersey. In the racing tradition of the great GT-40’s it blends iconic styling with modern engineering to make it the most exhilarating ride on the planet. You can see the Mark II Black mirror perfect paint in the video scenes (click the video window above.) No Reserve Classic put together the ultimate sales video by contrasting a walk-around video shoot of this rare Ford GT with racing scenes of Ford GT’s in action. They say it has only 5,400 miles and is one of the rarest factory cars because of its stripe delete feature. The mid-engine design is a perfect balance for the Ford 5.4-liter supercharged 32-valve DOHC V8 producing 550 horsepower. The hydroformed aluminum chassis breathes performance into a 6-speed Ricardo transmission, punching out 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds. Yes, yes and yes.

Vanguard Motor Sales in Michigan listed two low miles Lincoln Continental Mark V’s for sale. One was already sold this morning, so this is the only one they have left. It does have the big moonroof and electric windows, Walnut burl trim, tilt column, air conditioning, front disc power brakes, and power steering. 1969 Barracuda Formula S
Wow! We are amazed at this price drop on a 1969 Plymouth Barracuda Formula S, a highly desirable Mopar muscle car from Wisconsin. It has a 383 HiPo engine and a 4-speed. Only 53 other Formula S cars were produced like this one, making it a rare find. It is currently in the Galen Govier Registry. Not entirely original, it has been updated with Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes, aluminum heads, Holley carburetor, ceramic coated headers and TTI exhaust. Do you think it can spin the back tires? Oh, yeah! The seller was originally looking for $65,000 on this very presentable Mopar. But just this week he decided to drop the price to $49,500. Now that’s what I’m talkin’ about.

Muscle Car Clones
1967 Chevelle Z-16 396
Chevrolet experimented with putting a big block 396 ci V8 in a Chevelle Malibu as early as 1965. It was called the Z-16 package. Only 201 Chevelles were produced with the Z-16 375 horsepower 396 and only one was a convertible. For the average investor who actually knows what a Z-16 is, an original car would be unaffordable. But here is a 1965 Chevelle Z-16 396 Convertible tribute that recreates the same type of power and performance as the original Z-16. This is a real SS Chevelle Malibu with a 4-speed. Hurry! It is for sale this week through Haggle Me, an internet broker that helps us old timers market our cars on the internet.
The following are more recently listed Muscle Car Clones:
1973 Corvette Stingray, Streetside Charlotte, Baldwin-Motion stripes
1967 Dodge Coronet Convertible, Haggle Me, R/T tribute
1972 Chevelle Malibu, Streetside Charlotte, SS tribute
1968 Camaro, Streetside Atlanta, RS/SS tribute
1972 Chevelle, Streetside Atlanta, SS tribute
1968 Mustang GT500, Collectible Motorcar of Atlanta, Shelby tribute
1970 Chevelle, Super Sport Classics, SS tribute

Deals of the Day
1968 Mercury Monterey Convt
By 1968 the Mercury Monterey had transitioned from a performance based muscle car to the top car in their mid-sized luxury lineup. It was the last year of the big block 390 and one of the rarest convertible models made with just 1,515 produced that year. It was known as a “land yacht” because of its smooth, comfortable ride. This rare 1968 Mercury Monterey Convertible is being offered for sale by a private party seller from Rapid City, South Dakota. He says it is a “great running and driving convertible” with a 390 V8, automatic transmission, power steering, front power disc brakes, power windows, a “like new” power top. He says everything works. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday because his asking price is only $16,000.
1951 Packard 200 Sedan
Packard was beginning to feel the pinch of being a small luxury car automaker in an ever expanding middle-class market. In order to compete with General Motors and Ford they came out with a “junior” lineup of lower priced cars like this 1951 Packard 200 Sedan. This was the first year for the 200 series Packards replacing the 120 and 110 models. It was Packards most popular model with over 71,000 units built. It was also a total redesign from previous models. This example is being offered for sale at North Shore Classics in Mundelein, Illinois. They say it has the 8 cylinder engine with an automatic transmission. Click here to watch a walk-around video and hear it run. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. Their asking price is $12,900.
1957 Ford Thunderbird
The Classic Auto Mall just listed this 1957 Ford Thunderbird for sale. Not only is it price under $30,000, but it has a swapped out 347 ci V8 stroker motor producing 415 horsepower. Oh, yes, it is quick! The car itself is only driver quality with a white auxiliary hardtop and a soft top which needs to be replaced. The dual exhaust flows through Flow FX by Flowmaster, and the power brakes have new lines and fittings. The suspension has been rebuilt with coil springs and new leaf springs and shocks in the rear. They say it drives out like a breeze and sounds good on their test track. Some item not working are noted in the description. But it will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. Their asking price is $29,000.
1994 Trans Am Anniversary
Pontiac made a series of Anniversary Edition Trans Ams every ten years to commemorate its most popular Pony car. From the late 1970’s through the 1990’s the Trans Am still represented a performance sports car along the lines of a muscle car. This 1994 Pontiac Trans Am 25th Anniversary Edition caught the eye of young Americans when it came out with a unique body style and livery. The styling was a reminder of the original first year Trans Ams from 1969. Only 2,000 coupes like this one were produced making it a limited edition. It is being offered for sale by a private party seller from Wisconsin. He says it runs “great and is in nice shape.” With the LT-1 350 engine and an automatic transmission it has just 70,000 original miles. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday next week. His asking price is $13,900.
1976 Pontiac Grand Prix LJ
A Pontiac collector from Canada refers to his 1976 Pontiac Grand Prix LJ as “a rare find and a true survivor.” Equipped with the original 455 ci V8 engine, he says the car is all original, fully numbers matching and has full power. He has been storing it for the past 30 years waiting to get to a full restoration. But he now fears he won’t get to complete the restoration. Pontiac stopped putting 455’s in the Grand Prix in 1975. But a few lucky buyers got to order them with 455’s in 1976. This is one of those cars. The seller says the car runs and drives like new. He says recent work includes new shocks and springs. The brakes and front end have been inspected and “are in excellent shape,” he says. He says he has a lot of new parts to go along with the car. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Wednesday next week if it lasts that long. He asking price is $8,000.
2000 Porsche 911 Cabriolet
Here is a 2000 Porsche Carrera 4 Cabriolet at a real good price. It was just listed for sale from Sovereign Auto Group in Michigan. With All Wheel Drive and just 71,000 miles, it is a very interesting sports car to check out in its Arctic Silver finish. It has the 18-inch Turbo look wheels with colored crests and a black power soft top. The 3.4 liter Flat 6 cylinder engine produces 300 horsepower coupled to a Tiptronic 5-speed automatic transmission. This one has the aluminum interior package, l itronic Xenon headlamps with washers, Porsche PSM stability management system, memory seats, sound package, stainless exhaust pipes and power deployable rear spoiler. Inside is an Alpine stereo with Bluetooth. Click here to watch a walk-around video and hear it run. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. Their asking price is only $19,900.
1975 MGB Roadster
If you’ve always wanted to experience the open air driving feeling of wind blowing through your hair on a warm summer’s day, here is your chance. This 1975 MGB Roadster has been listed at a price you can afford. It is being offered for sale at Streetside Classics at their Atlanta store. They say it is a one-owner vehicle with a smooth running 1798 cc engine and 4-speed transmission. The description notes a well-preserved interior free of rips and tears. Look at the door panels and center console in the photos. It even has power front disc brakes. Click here for a better look at the car in a walk-around video. They say the car comes with extensive service records and an original Bill of Sale. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. The asking price is $12,995.
