Cadillac Luxury Car
In the depths of the Great Depression, European bank collapses sent economic panic throughout the world. Times were hard. Even the wealthy began to cut back on their spending. In 1931 Cadillac created a surrogate for their high end V-16 models and came out with a 370A model V-12 motorcar. It would soon replace the opulent V-16 Cadillacs.
This week, a 1931 Cadillac 370A V12 Dual Cowl Phaeton was listed for sale. It hails from an Arizona based collection and is a full CCCA Classic. The classic Cadillac is being offered for sale at Ellingson Motor Cars in Minnesota. It has undergone an extensive and meticulous restoration. It is the epitome of luxury pre-war touring, and it was outfitted with plenty of options. The Seafoam Green over Camden Green fenders are appealing and the buckskin interior is said to be “like new” (see the photos at the link.)
The equipment on this 370A V-12 include vacuum assisted mechanical brakes in both front and rear. (This huge classic car weighs over 5,000 pounds.) It rides on a set of optional 7.50-18 wide whitewall tires mounted on chrome wire wheels with chrome hubcaps and the Cadillac crest. It has the dual windshields, a bespoke luxury look. And the dual side-mounted spare tires are topped with chrome Cadillac side view mirrors. It also has an optional metal trunk. Optional “Pilot Ray” driving lights adjust with the direction of the steering wheel. The engine turned dash has a center-mounted instrument cluster with a 100-mile-per-hour speedometer and full gauges.
Click here for a walk-around video and listen to Scott talk about all the options this car has.
The engine compartment is beautiful. It houses the 368 ci V-12 engine with dual single barrel carburetors. The engine exhales through a dual exhaust system.
This Cadillac V-12 is your ticket to full CCCA membership and the right to cruise in the CCCA CARavan events. Have your chauffeur don his leather duster and goggles for a drive in the country. Relive the 1930’s in style.

Classic Car News This Week
Chevelles Are Hot!
We try to keep you informed of what is happening in the collector car market. This week we noticed that every “real deal” Chevelle SS car that was listed was sold almost immediately. You won’t find as many in our listings this week because the Super Sport Chevelle big block cars are selling like we’ve never seen them sell before. Don’t get me wrong. These Super Sports have been hot for more than two years. But this week, as we were going through the New Listings we began noticing that every big block Super Sport Chevelle was sold before we could even list it here in the newsletter. That rarely happens, and is a sign that these classic muscle cars are selling at an unusual fast pace. That is why you see so many Chevelle Malibu tribute SS’s on the market these days. We thought you should know. Here is a 1968 Chevelle SS with a 454 and a Muncie 4-speed. Click here to watch a video by Hanksters Hot Rods.
Maserati Rumor ??
Where there is smoke, there is fire … This week there is a lot of chatter on the internet about Stellantis wanting to sell Maserati to trim its large inventory of automotive brands. Stellantis has 14 brands under its umbrella, including Jeep, Chrysler, Peugeot and Alfa Romeo. Reuters, the London based news agency, has rumored that Stellantis is auditing the possible divestment of Maserati, its luxury brand. Maserati is losing money and its sales dropped by one half in 2024. Stellantis, however, felt the need to address the rumors and came out with a statement that they are not considering selling Maserati. The Dodge Viper has become imminently collectible since Stellantis stopped producing them in 2017. The Viper ACR’s and first-generation Vipers have dramatically increased in value since they stopped making the American exotic car. Of course, Vipers were always collectible and it doesn’t follow that Maseratis will go up in value if something unforeseen happens to their production.

1969 Pontiac Trans Am
Unique Classic Cars in Mankato, Minnesota teased a tantalizing listing this week as they updated their fresh inventory on the Cars-On-Line site. They posted a 1969 Pontiac Trans Am muscle car for sale. However, as they often do, they have the photos, but have not yet posted their write-up about the car. They also have not posted a video. If this is a real first-year Trans Am it will be big news in Pontiac circles. This one has a 3-speed turbo hydromatic automatic transmission. Of the 697 Trans Am’s produced in 1969 only 123 had an automatic transmission. Can you tell if this one is the real deal? Watch our Trans Am Section online this week for more updates on this Trans Am.
1991 Mercedes 300SL Gullwing
The Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing motorcar was so innovative in its day that it is one of the most sought after motorcars of all time. That being the case it is not too unusual that a creative designer might have hand-crafted a recreation. Tony Ostermeier from Gardena, California did just that. His recreations of the 300SL Gullwing are world famous for accuracy and performance. Interestingly, Gullwing Motor Cars (similar name but not the company that built the recreations), out of Astoria, New York, listed one of his builds this week. It is listed as a 1991 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing Recreation. Ostermeier’s Gullwings were built on a modern Mercedes chassis with modern running gear, i.e. a fuel-injected inline 6 engine, automatic transmission and modern suspension and brakes. It captures the look and makes a stunning presence. But you won’t have to pay $ millions for this one.
Auctions
Over 750 vehicles are set to cross the auction stage next month when the GAA Classic Summer Auction happens in Greensboro, North Carolina, July 24-26, 2025. This sale is so mainstream that we consider it to be the best barometer of what prices should be on these top end collector cars. Collectors should take notes. Classic car dealers from throughout the Southwestern U.S. will be on hand to buy special cars for their inventories. And countless more from all over the country will be buying online or over the phone. But the event is open to the public and anybody with a bidder’s registration can bid on these cars. Here are a few we will be watching closely.
1958 Chevrolet Impala Convertible
A concours quality body-off rotisserie restoration was done on this 1958 Chevrolet Impala Convertible, one of the most desirable collector cars on the planet. It has the 348 ci V8 with Tripower carbs and a 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. It comes with a power top, quarter-mounted antenna and dual exhaust. It has the traditional tri-tone interior and spinner wheel covers. In other words, this is exactly the way you would want to own a ’58 Chevy Impala. It will cross the auction block on Saturday, July 26 at the Auto Palace in Greensboro. Who will be the lucky new owner?
1969 Pontiac GTO Judge
A Carousel Red 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge is also on the docket for Saturday at the GAA Classic Summer Auction. Jim Wangers signed the inside of the sun visor, calling this “An absolutely perfect ’69 Judge.” It has undergone a complete frame-off restoration in 2005. The Judge is equipped with a Ram Air III 400 engine and a Hurst 4-speed transmission. It comes with great documentation, including a Protect-O-Plate (see photos), window sticker and owners manual. The rear end is a 3.55 Safety-Track HD. The consignor has had the car since 2014. This is the type of muscle car you can expect when you bid at the GAA Classic Summer Auction.
No Reserve – 2005 Ford GT
Here is the type of collector car offering that will draw the top collectors in the country. A 2005 Ford GT will be offered for sale at No Reserve! That’s right, at No Reserve! When have you ever seen that happen before? It is part of the Jimmy & Julianne Rawls Collection to be offered at the GAA Classic Summer Auction next month. The GT has only 2,828 miles on it. It is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission and is rated at 550 hp from the factory with its 5.4L V8 DOHC engine which is a 32-valve factory build. The top speed was rated at over 200 miles per hour. See photos at the link. This could be the most talked about auction sale of the year.

1968 Dodge Charger R/T
This 1968 Dodge Charger R/T with the big block 440 engine has some Hollywood history. So says REV Muscle Cars, the internet broker selling the Mopar muscle car. It was used in the 1991 film Rush with Sam Elliott and Jennifer Jason Leigh. Watch as REV Muscle Cars takes you through a visual inspection of this rotisserie restored Mopar. The rust free body is showing only 29,000 actual miles. The second-owner has had the car for 20 years. We think the video was so well done that we are showing it to you here.

Collector Cars with Low Miles
2004 Ford Thunderbird
Now there are a lot of retro Ford Thunderbirds out there on the resale market these days. But we doubt that there is another with such low miles as this one. Orlando Classic Cars listed a 2004 Ford Thunderbird for sale this week. Get this! It only has 13 actual miles on the car. No, it is not even broken in yet. Orlando Classic Cars is well-known as the place to go to get low miles cars. But we’ve never seen on listed with only 13 miles before. It was purchased and kept in a collection from new. Project Vehicles for Restoration
1963 Mercedes 190SL
Gullwing Motor Cars in New York listed a very desirable Mercedes-Benz sports car for sale this week. It is one you should check out because, even though it is just out of storage, it looks and presents like an older restoration should. The 1963 Mercedes-Benz 190SL will need someone to go through it and work out the storage “bugs”, some minor cosmetics and servicing. You know the routine. But for the right buyer, this is “a diamond in the rough.” Maybe you should have it inspected before you get too interested. But hurry!
The following are just some of the cars available in the Project Car Section this week:

1976 Camaro RS
A Wisconsin couple restored their favorite Camaro, a 1976 RS version with attention to the body and the undercarriage. They replaced all the trim pieces with restored or new parts and gave it new Rally Sport stripes. The car has 2 ½ inch exhaust with 3 inch tips. You can tell from the pictures that the interior is original and beautiful. It is rare to see a ’76 in this kind of condition. When they first listed the car they were asking $55,000 (which would have been some kind of record for a ’76 Camaro.) But just this week they dropped the price to $39,500. That’s a nice discount.

1969 Mustang Convertible
An Indian Fire 1969 Mustang Convertible may be a little worn looking and the paint is faded. But what a find! But it comes with a power soft top and glass insert. It is being offered for sale by Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles. The 302 ci V8 engine is fed by a Holley 4-barrel carburetor. It is equipped with dual-exhaust, front-wheel disc brakes, 3-spoke steering wheel, 15-inch steel wheels, and BFGoodrich white-letter tires. Convenience features include forward-folding front bucket seats, dual-side rearview mirrors, quarter windows, and a retro-style radio. 1968 Chevrolet C10 Pickup
The Chevrolet Camper Special was a popular vehicle for the outdoor enthusiast back in the day. Here is a great example featuring “patina” paint. It is a 1968 Ford F-250 Camper Special with the 360 ci V8 engine and 4-speed manual transmission. It is being offered for sale by Classic & Collectible Cars of Las Vegas. They tell lus it comes with power drum brakes, new tires, a too storage compartment and AM radio. The interior is original. They say the original paint has been “patina clear coated” by Poppy. 1976 Pontiac Grand Prix LJ
The Pontiac Grand Prix was one of those dependable American motor cars that enjoyed great popularity among the “country club set” back in the day. This 1976 Pontiac Grand Prix LJ was developed by John Delorean when he was in charge at Pontiac. It will turn heads, they say. It is being offered for sale at Midwest Car Exchange in Illinois. It is equipped with the “Y4” code 455 ci V8 engine. They describe the two-tone paint as “gorgeous.” It transfers power with a Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission with a floor shifter on the center console. Options include power steering, power disc brakes, Rally gauges, dual speed wipers, power windows, power door locks and air conditioning. Not bad for that era. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. The asking prie is $19,900.
2010 Mazda Miata MX-5
The modern day iteration of the Mazda Miata has more neat technological gimmicks. But the racing experience that Mazda has invested in still exhibits itself in the Miata’s performance. This 2010 Mazda Miata MX-5 Touring was just posted for sale at a very low price. This is the first time we have seen a late model MX-5 at such a good price point. It is a one-owner example being offered for sale at The Throttlestop in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. They know a little about sports cars. This one has a manual soft top. But they tell us it has only 18,979 miles. With a 6-speed manual transmission it is perfect for that weekend sports car experience. Click here to watch a walk-around video and hear it run. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday next week. Their asking price is $19,900.
1995 Pontiac Trans Am Convertible
An Illinois sports car enthusiast has listed his 1995 Pontiac Trans Am Convertible for sale. He is a private party seller, not a dealer. His description is short but interesting enough to get you to call him for more info. He says this car was garage kept its whole life and everything works. Although he did not include any photos of the undercarriage he states that the underside of this car is as clean as the top. It has a V8 engine, automatic transmission and power windows, power top and power brakes. He says the air conditioning works, as oes the top. He states that there is no rust on the car. Have it inspected before you buy, but hurry. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Wednesday. His asking price is only $17,500.
2007 Jaguar XK8
A private party seller from North Carolina has listed his 2007 Jaguar XK8 for sale. This car was his pride and joy. It has just 57k miles on it. The owner has maintained the car for 12 years and says it is garage kept. He says the tires are good and the battery is new. In his desription, he says the interior is “near perfect. No rips or torn leather.” It has a leather dash and remote CD player. Most importantly, he tells us it “drives excellent.” You can tell from the interior photos that this is a sporty car with a luxurious interior. With such low miles you would not expect to get a car like this at this price. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. The asking price is $11,500.
