Mustangs To Watch
The collector car market is ever changing. What is common place today may be very rare and desirable tomorrow. So it was not a surprise when we realized early last year that the Mustang Mach 1’s from 1969 and 1970 were getting hard-to-find. It used to be that our newsletter was full of the early Mach 1 Mustangs, but now not so much. That should be a warning to collectors to grab these Shelby-like treasures before their prices go through the roof.
This week, MGM Classic Cars in Illinois found a mother lode of these precious Mach 1’s. The 1970 Mustang Mach 1 you see featured here will sell fast at the low listing price. Although not all original, it represents a good value since it is priced like a daily driver. MGM Classics tells us it is an H Code 351 with an automatic transmission. It came from the factory with air conditioning, and they say it has working Vintage Air now. You can look at dozens of detailed photos on the ad page at the link. You will be amazed at how clean the undercarriage is on this car.
While the condition class on this car is probably a Class 3, this 1970 Mustang Mach 1 is said to be inspected and ready to drive. It presents better than driver class. Click here to view a walk-around video and hear it run. Contrary to the “H” Code designation, the engine label says it is a 4-barrel and it comes with dual exhaust. The interior with black vinyl high back bucket seats looks real good. They do point out a rip in the vinyl when you watch the video. They say they have a Marti Report to go along with the car.
These early Mach 1’s are going up in value in a market where most cars these days are trending lower. So we feel that these Mach 1’s are a good investment for a collector. Find more Mach 1 Mustangs in the Ford Muscle Car section below.

Hudson Inspection
When Cars-On-Line answered the call to inspect a 1947 Hudson Pickup in Florida, a New York buyer got the full scoop on this interesting classic pickup truck. It is a rare one. This is a hot rod truck, which the inspector noted by pointing out the dress-up under the hood, lowered stance and the Camaro subframe mods with power steering. There were also some electrical issues which would need attending to. He noted that the Vintage Air system worked well as you might expect from a classic driven in Florida. He also warned the buyer that the Flowmaster mufflers were a little loud for this use. That is a matter of personal taste. You can read the full report to discover the condition of the paint and finish, and the wood bed. Click here to read the Pre-Purchase Inspection Report on our sample reports page.
This buyer did the right thing having us do the Pre-Purchase Inspection before he bought the truck. Are you anticipating buying a collector car? We can help. Read some of our sample pre-purchase inspections at the Inspections Page today.
Enthusiast Auction
At the end of this month we are anticipating one of the top events of the year happening in Auburn, Indiana when Worldwide Auctioneers puts on their annual Enthusiast Auction. For the purists in the collector car hobby, they will be selling some of the finest classic motorcars you will find anywhere. This 1940 Packard Darrin 180 Victoria Convertible is a good example. The Packards designed by Dutch Darrin are rare and at a premium in the collector car market. This one comes from the Zimmerman Automobile Driving Museum. It is one of the museum’s crown jewels. It was driven and admired in Pasadena’s Tournament of Roses parade in 2013, and was featured in the Netflix movie Hollywood. See more full classic cars in the Vintage Motorcars section below. Or see the inventory for the upcoming Enthusiast Auction by clicking this link.

1939 Lincoln Zephyr
Here is a stellar opportunity to own a true full classic that is also a national show winner. This 1939 Lincoln Zephyr Convertible Sedan has been listed for sale by Connors Motorcar Company in West Chester, Pennsylvania. It has a V-12 engine and is one of only 302 such cars ever produced and one of only 12 still known to exist. It has undergone a complete frame-off restoration and they say it is totally rust free. The Neenah Cream paint is stunning and it comes with a Hartz cloth top and saddle leather interior. Connors Motorcar Company tells us that it comes with the tool kit, books and records and ready to go. They say it still has only 28,000 miles. And it is priced right.
Auctions
Mark your calendars for the Spring Carlisle Car Show and Flea Market in historic Carlisle, Pennsylvania. It is one of the oldest and most respected collector car events in the country. One of the best parts of this great car show is the Spring Carlisle Auction at the Expo Center across from the fairgrounds. This year the auction will be held on April 24-25, 2025. Here are a few of the vehicles they have posted on our website to be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
1941 Lincoln Zephyr
A Lincoln Zephyr is a popular car among collectors. Whenever we have one listed it sells fast and commands a high dollar value. The Zephyr styling is a reminder of the Art Deco design theme of its era. This is a 1941 Lincoln Zephyr Convertible Club Coupe which was built by legendary custom builder Chip Foose and later owned by the Gas Monkey Garage. There were only 725 convertibles produced. It has been updated with a 4.6L fuel-injected Twin-cam Lincoln V8 and an automatic transmission. They used a Lincoln Navigator rear indeendent suspension with Air Ride during the restoration. It will be auctioned off at the Carlisle Spring Auction, April 24-25, 2025 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
1950 Dodge 5-Window Pickup
Carlisle Auctions are famous for their Truck Hour sale. That’s when they run only trucks through the auction. One of the most interesting offerings during this year’s Truck Hour sale is a 1950 Dodge 5-Window Pickup looking very original in its fresh Olive Green paint and custom wood bed. You will note that it has an updated 318 ci V8 engine and 904 automatic transmission. It has a completely new tan interior. Get the feel of riding in an old truck with an updated drivetrain. All-Truck Hour happens each day at 3 PM during the Carlisle Spring Auction. Rare Chevrolet and GMC trucks will also be featured.
Corvette Test Car
When Zora Arkus-Duntov wanted to test using aluminum heads with a fuel-injected Corvette, he pulled the number two production car off the line to be his test mule. That car still survives today and will be offered to the highest bidder at this year’s Spring Carlisle Auction, April 24-25, 2025. This Snowcrest White 1960 Corvette Fuelie Convertible comes with its original frame with the chassis number still visible. The 283 V8 has solid lifters and a higher compression ratio, and it is mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. It has the aluminum radiator and aluminum clutch housing. It also has stiffer anti-sway bars front and rear. The historic appeal of this car will be interesting to observe as it crosses the auction block this month at Carlisle.
Click this link to review the recent consignments to the Spring Carlisle Auction. More vehicles are being consigned every day. They do not charge you if the vehicle doesn’t sell. That is Carlisle’s FREE UNLESS SOLD GUARANTEE. All fees are refunded if the vehicle does not sell.

1930 Ford Model 18 Tudor
Back in the day, the V8 cars were a big deal when they first hit the dealer showrooms. The V8’s were called Model 18 by Henry. The beautifully preserved example which you see here is a 1930 Ford Model 18 Tudor with Washington Blue paint and black fenders. The cream pinstriping sets a stylistic look and it has a brown upholstered interior. It is being offered for sale at Legendary Motors in Rowley, Massachusetts. They did a walk-around video to show how it has been well maintained as an older restoration. They say it runs as smooth as it looks.

Project Vehicles for Restoration
1962 Alfa Romeo Giulietta
Although this 1962 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Speciale is not currently running, Gullwing Motor Cars tells us it would not take much to make it into “an excellent weekend driver.” It is one of only 1,366 such cars produced by Alfa Romeo and designed by Bertone. It has a correct, but non-numbers matching engine. Other than that it is said to be highly original. It is a California car which has just recently been rescued from long term storage. European buyers should take note. It will be worth much more than its asking price on the Continent.
The following are just some of the cars available in the Project Car Section this week:

Deals of the Day
1965 Buick WIldcat
The 1965 Buick Wildcat Convertible is at best in daily driver type condition with a convertible top which is currently inoperative and paint that has some imperfections. This is definitely one you would want to have inspected before you drive. Yet, the asking price is inviting. So read on. It has a numbers matching 401 Buick V8 with a TH400 automatic transmission. Equipped with power steering, power brakes and air conditioning (also inop), it is riding on Buick Motor Division wheels with white wall tires. It has a parade boot, an Ivory bucket seat interior and center console. For the right buyer this could be a great find. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. Their asking price is $26,900.
1954 Nash Metropolitan
Looking at the ad for a 1954 Nash Metropolitan from New York state, we think this might be one of the best Metropolitans we’ve seen recently. You should have it inspected to make sure, but the private party seller says it is a “near perfect restoration.” It has the original 1200A Austin engine rebuilt by Tischler Auto in New Jersey, and comes with lots of new parts, says the seller. Rebuilt rear end; seals, gaskets and axle bearings…New brakes and wheel cylinders…New springs and shocks. New paint and interior make it look sharp in the photos. The engine compartment really looks good. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. The asking price is $15,000.
1978 Corvette Coupe
A Corvette yellow 1978 Corvette Coupe is being offered for sale by its private party seller in Massachusetts. He says that the replacement 350 engine has less than 17k documented miles, while the car itself has 90k miles. It has a leather interior which the seller describes as being in “great condition.” The air conditioning was redone in 2016 and it has Cooper Cobra tires. He describe it as “a nice, clean, quality driver.” He says it even has fluid film applied wot preserve the finish. You should have it inspected before you buy to confirm the quality. But hurry. He just dropped the price to $11,999.
2007 Pontiac Solstice GXP
Pontiac enthusiasts were never very interested in the factory built Solstice convertible sports cars they produced from 2006 until 2010. Not much horsepower. But aftermarket companies made a high horsepower version that is very collectible. They called it a GXP. Here is a 2007 Pontiac Solstice GXP Convertible just listed for sale by Sovereign Auto Group, a wholesaler in Michigan. The 2.0L engine is turbocharged producing 260 horsepower. In the GXP package those horses are distributed through a 5-speed automatic transmission spinning a 3.73 rear end with Limited Slip differential. To top that off it has 18-inch wheels and Bilstein monotube sport shocks. This truly unique sports car will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday. Their asking price is only $13,000. Your welcome.
2002 Camaro Z28 Convertible
Wow! A low mileage 2002 Camaro Z28 Convertible that you can afford. This would be fun for the summer, eh? In Navy Blue metallic finish with red/gold pinstriping, it has a neutral leather bucket seat interior with center console. (See photos at the link.) It is well optioned with power steering, power windows, power locks, power seat, power brakes and air conditioning. And they say the air blows COLD. The wheels are C5 Corvette styled with Falken tires. The intake and exhaust are by SLP which were added aftermarket. Have it inspected because they say the car is not perfect. But it will be our DEAL of the DAY on Wednesday next week. Their asking price is $14,900.
1975 VW Beetle Convertbile
There is a nice 1977 Volkswagen Transporter Van in the showroom at Classic Car Deals in Cadillac, Michigan. These VW vans were very hot among Gen-X’ers with families. Still to this day it is an affordable way to go camping with the family. This one runs and drives, but has not been restored. So you might want to have it inspected before you buy. There are 52 photos to view at the link. Classic Car Deals says it would make a great daily driver. It is very clean. Being a Transporter, it has three rows of seats. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. Their asking price is $18,995.
2004 Ford Thunderbird
Here is another sports car from Sovereign Auto Group. This 2004 Ford Thunderbird Convertible is the deluxe edition with removable black auxiliary hardtop and storage stand included. They say the popular retro car has just 62k miles and comes well optioned. It has a canvas convertible soft top. The 3.9 liter V8 produces 280 horsepower, transferring power with a 5-speed automatic transmission. It has a six-way power drivers seat, 2-way power passenger seat, 17-inch bright micro-machined 16-spoke alloy wheels, dual zone climate control, traction control and a matching soft top boot. They say the Borla stainless steel exhaust sounds excellent. Click this link to view a walk-around video inspection. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. They are asking $16,000.
