AMC Muscle Cars
The mercurial nature of the collector car market never ceases to amaze us. Just recently we have noticed that “AMC muscle cars for sale” has become one of the top searches that resolve to the Cars-On-Line.com website. That’s a new trend that we think is going to get some traction in the market as AMC muscle cars come up a notch on the collector’s radar.
When we posted this 1968 AMC AMX on our Facebook page recently, it got a big reaction. Seen here in AMC’s racing colors, this first year AMX looks good in red, white and blue. It was listed for sale by Streetside Classics out of their Phoenix location. It has the 390 ci V8 with a 3-speed automatic transmission and after-market Gear Vendors electric overdrive. With 4-wheel disc brakes, you can imagine how this little car handles. The added sidepipes give it a look and stance that befit the image of a muscle car from the era.
Performance upgrades include an Edelbrock high-rise aluminum intake, Performer 401 heads, HEI ignition, and a Quick Fuel 4-barrel carburetor. The drivability benefits from Wilwood disc brakes with slotted and drilled rotors, a CPP steering box, and Caltracs bars on the AMC 20 rear axle. Click this link to watch Streetside’s walk-around video for an up close look.
6,725 AMC AMX’s were produced in 1968. The AMX was a two-seater GT type sports car and AMC’s go-to drag car for the pony car era. Each 1968 AMX had a unique production number and a dash plaque. It was a muscle car at an affordable price. Interestingly, the desire to own an AMX has surged recently among next-generation collectors. The internet AI bot for Microsoft reports a 38 percent increase in interest among young collectors. Dax Street reports that the AMX will appreciate faster than gold in the coming years. The Robb Report called it “the Best Kept Secret in Classic Cars.”
You don’t see as many AMX’s for sale these days. We predict that AMC cars such as this unique looking AMX will be going up in value as more and more collectors become aware of their popularity.

Classic Car News This Week
Market Movers
Hagerty Insurance says overall collector car values rose ever so slightly in January 2025. They say that is only the fourth time their Market Rating indicator has moved up in the last three years. So January may have stopped the downward trend.
What is the car most likely to increase in value in 2025? Well, Hagerty says the top car is the Datsun 280ZX. Millennials love them, and that is where the market is going these days. Here is a Gold metallic 1980 Datsun 280ZX listed by Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles. The removable T-top roof panels are an important option.
As Hagerty measures auction prices, however, they report that auction prices dropped in January. That is significant because two of the country’s top auctions happen in January, the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale and the Mecum Auction in Kissimmee. Hagerty measures private party sales separately. Those have also been down slightly and have been dropping every month. They say current median sale prices are down 20 percent, the lowest it has been for the past 13 years.
Click here to review Hagerty’s recent Bull Market Report on the top 11 collector cars poised to gain in value in 2025.
GAA Auction Results
Did you join our Facebook discussion while watching the GAA Classic Winter Auction 2025 last weekend? It was pretty impressive seeing how many cars were selling at interesting price points. Click here to read our GAA Auction Report with sales results on some of the top cars we were watching on Saturday. The top sale was no surprise. We talked about the three 2006 Ford GT’s that were consigned to the auction by the same owner. They put all three GT’s on the auction block at the same time. The gimmick was that the high bidder would be able to choose one of the three GT’s to take home. Since the high bid came in over the phone we all had to wait a bit while the high bidder chose which car he wanted. He chose the Mark IV Red GT shown here. As the auction continued we discovered that another bidder was able to convince the owner to sell the Tungsten Silver 2006 Ford GT, also. Our Facebook fans were able to follow the action by watching the You Tube Live Video stream. It was a fun afternoon.

1970 Hemi Cuda
For the second week in a row we have a 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda in our New Listings. That hasn’t happened in a while. Mopar collectors have been keeping their Hemi Cudas close to their vest. But here is one that was listed by Classic Car Marketing, an internet broker from Southern California, listing it for their client. It is a Tor-Red Hemi Cuda with rare factory numbers matching verified original drivetrain, factory original sheet metal and factory shaker hood. Fully documented, they say it has undergone a full rotisserie restoration and has just over 41k original miles. Man, it just doesn’t get any better than that. It is one of only 652 hardtop Cudas built in 1970. It comes with the requisite Super Track Pack 4:10 gears. For those in the know, this car was purchased from noted Mopar aficionado Greg Nelson out of Minnesota.
Hennessey VelociRaptor 1000
One of our Dealer Network advertisers has just become a Hennessey Performance outlet, offering a retail store where you can go in and order the top level of performance extras on your car or truck. We noticed that they are taking orders on the new Hennessey 2025 Ford F-150 VelociRaptor 1000 Pickup. Pictured here is a 4-Door SuperCrew Cab version in Shelter Green Metallic finish. They say it will create tire shredding performance with a 3.8 liter Whipple Supercharger, high-flow air induction and heavy duty Supercharger belt. Fuel lines need to be upgraded and a Hennessey oil-air separator system installed. Hennessey uses a special engine management calibration to produce amazing performance. This one will deliver 1,043 base horsepower and run an 11.4 quarter mile. Options on this truck include 4WD, 4-wheel disc brakes, ABS brakes, adaptive suspension, adjustable pedals, air conditioning, alloy wheels, tilt wheel, dual valve shocks, electronic locking w/4.10 axle ratio and more.
’49 Delahaye Cabriolet
This is a remarkable find. Gullwing Motor Cars out of New York has listed a 1949 Delahaye Type 135M Cabriolet which was coachbuilt by Franay. Only 20 of these cars were built in 1949. It is unknown if Franay did more than one. No extra charge for patina. Gullwing tells us that this one is incredibly well researched/documented, a truly remarkable Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance veteran. It is rare to find a car of this stature in “survivor” condition. They say, “the dash is in exceptional condition, all instruments are clean, functioning and looking exceptional for an extremely original car that is approaching 70 years of age.” It runs well and the engine bay looks fresh and original. It does have non-original Zenith-Stromberg carburetors. Miles are undocumented, but show just 3,700 kms. The car was well preserved at its California home. It was cared for by true enthusiasts for its historical value.

Deals of the Day
1968 Olds Cutlass S
Do you have the phone in your hand yet? Here is an 1968 Oldsmobile Cutlass S Convertible in driver quality condition that is priced at a discount to the market. Yes, the Island Teal metallic Cutlass S has its “ugly”, but the price presents an opportunity you don’t come across everyday. It is being offered for sale at MGM Classic Cars in Addison, Illinois. This rare muscle car convertible has rips in the seats, imperfections in the paint and some ugly rust on the undercarriage. On the flip side of that, the quarters appear original, it has a rear deck spoiler and factory 12-bolt rear end. Have it inspected to find out how the Rocket 350 ci V8 runs, and how the overall car drives. But hurry! It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. Their asking price is $21,750
1914 Studebaker Touring
The little Studebaker Brothers shop in South Bend, Indiana had grown into a leader in the automotive industry by the 1920’s. This 1914 Studebaker SC Touring car with the 4 cylinder engine was one of their important models in its day. It is being offered for sale through Haggle Me, an internet broker in Indiana. They say it has undergone a body off restoration and shows well in the photos. They say it runs and drives well, and is a good representative of the “brass era” because of those brass headlamps. Notice the wood artillery wheels in the photos. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. The asking price is $18,900.
1955 Ford Thunderbird
Our newsletter readers know what we always say, “If you find a first generation Thunderbird in nice shape for under $30,000 … buy it.” Here is Raven Black 1955 Ford Thunderbird which comes with both tops, and is from the dry Arizona climate. It is being offered for sale by Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles. Note the black and white tutone interior in the photos. They say it comes equipped with an automatic transmission, V8 engine, 4-barrel carburetor, hood scoop, rear fender skirts, chrome bumpers, and 15-inch steel wheels with Ford hubcaps, plus white-wall tires. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday next week. Their asking price is $24,750.
1937 Ford Cabriolet
This looks like a lotta’ car for the money. Did every street rodder in the country miss this one? When a Washington state rodder listed this 1937 Ford Cabriolet for sale, he said it had been in storage for many years. With a Downs body and ’37 frame, this is an interesting build. He says it has a Corvette 350 engine w/polished Tuned Port Injection, a 700R4 transmission and a 9-inch rear end. But that’s not all. It has the requisite Mustang II rack and front disc brakes with power windows, air conditioning and power steering. The Flowmasters provide the sound track and the Cragars make it beautiful. He tells us a lot of money was spent on the build. Be sure to have it inspected before you buy, but hurry! Once buyers see that he reduced his price, this rod will be gone. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday if it lasts that long. His asking price is $27,000.
1967 Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider
Here is another great price from Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles. They just listed this 1967 Alfa Romeo Giulia Duetto Spider for sale. They say it is mechanically sound and is so competitively priced you should take a good look at it now. One of the great historically significant Alfa’s, this white Duetto Spider comes equipped with 4-speed manual transmission, inline-four engine, single exhaust outlet, four-wheel disc brakes, Jaeger instrumentation, “Pininfarina” badging, chrome bumpers, and 15-inch steel wheels dressed in Michelin red-line tires. Note the condition of the convertible soft top. Although the body is not perfect, this is an excellent chance to own an iconic Italian sports car for cheap. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Wednesday next week. Their asking price is $14,750.
1965 Olds Cutlass Holiday
Oldsmobile’s Holiday Coupe was what Oldsmobile called their 2-Door Hardtop. This week Beverly Hills Car Club listed a stellar looking 1965 Oldsmobile Cutlass Holiday Coupe for sale. They say this classic Oldsmobile has received a lot of care and service receipts seem to back that up. They say it is equipped with an automatic transmission, V8 engine, Rochester Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, power steering, dual exhaust outlets, chrome bumpers and 18-inch Boss Motorsport wheels with Sumitomo tires. The VIN number tells us this was an original California car which came off the line at Fremont. It is a Fisher body Cutlass. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. They are asking $19,950.
1978 Corvette Coupe
This seems like a deal to watch. The private party seller from Pennsylvania listed his 1978 Corvette Coupe with T-tops and he says it only has a 350 engine with only 17k documented miles. It is a GM Performance series engine installed in 1996 along with. a refreshed TH350 automatic transmission. This is an air conditioned car. The seller says the leather interior is in “great condition.” He said he had fluid film applied on certain areas to keep it preserved. The air was redone in 2016, the odometer shows 90k miles on the car. He considers it a “nice clean quality driver.” It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. He is only asking $12,900.

Sold Thru Cars On Line
Here are some of the comments from happy sellers who were nice enough to tell us about their experience advertising on the Cars On Line website.
A Colorado collector notified us that he had SOLD his 1974 Buick LeSabre Convertible through his Cars-On-Line ad. “I only got one call,” he said. “But that’s all it took. The ad worked. In fact, I bought that car off of Cars-On-Line from a guy in Wisconsin some years ago. So that’s a round trip I guess.”
The Project Car Section of the Cars-On-Line.com website is our most popular section. And we are always thrilled when we here from our clients that they have SOLD their project cars for restoration. This week a regular advertiser from Kansas City, Missouri told us he had SOLD his rare 1957 Lincoln Premiere 2-Door Hardtop. “It took a while, as usual,” he revealed, “and I had to take a lesser offer to complete the sale, but also, as usual, your system works very well. Thanks for all you do for me.”
