Market Maker
Mopar collectors may remember when this Bahama Blue 1971 Plymouth Hemi ‘Cuda was featured for sale on an auction site a few years ago. As the story goes, this Hemi ‘Cuda hardtop was drag raced by the original owner and lost its original engine. The replacement 426 Hemi V8 was built by Kowalsky Machine out of Virginia. The owner did extensive restoration work on the car in the early 2000’s. Long story short, the car did not meet reserve in 2022.
Fast forward to today, the same 1971 Plymouth Hemi ‘Cuda hardtop was listed in our Mopar Muscle Car section for sale. Haggle Me, an internet broker, has the car on consignment. There were only four Hemi ‘Cudas produced with white Billboard and Hemi letters in ’71. Only 114 Hemi Barracudas were produced that year. This is one of the 107 Hemi ‘Cuda hardtops produced. And it is one of only 59 Hemi ‘Cudas produced with a manual 4-speed transmission. It has the Dana 60 rear end with 3.54:1 Sure-Grip differential. It also has the Hurst Pistol Grip shifter and a Shaker hood.
That is rare enough to put it in a highly desirable status among Mopars. But it begs the question, “What is a non-original R Code car worth?” A numbers matching car would have gotten $500,000 at auction in recent years. But Hemi ‘Cuda prices are down at least 15 percent in the past two years. And this one does not come with documentation, other than the fender tag which verifies that it is an R Code.
On the flip side, this is a gorgeous car that has been restored. It is very clean and nicely detailed from the photos. Much of the car has been refurbished. Note the steel Mopar wheels with dog dish hubcaps for the authentic look. And you can buy it for less than half the price of a documented numbers matching original.

Classic Car News This Week
GAA Classic Auction
We made it through the snow and ice to Greensboro, North Carolina yesterday just in time to see the first day of the GAA Classic Winter Auction, February 20-22, 2025. There is an endless sea of cars here to be sold this week. By the end of the day on Saturday they say that over 750 cars will have crossed the auction block in The Automobile Palace, where the GAA Auctions are held. Click here to read our preview of the Saturday sale. You can get the live stream link to watch with us on that page. We will give you updates on some of the top cars as they come up on our Facebook page. Then join the conversation as we discuss the prices.
AMX Inspection Report
When a New Jersey buyer asked us to inspect a classic 1970 AMC AMX muscle car for him in Wisconsin his concern was about which condition class to peg it in. The car was a “barn find” so he wanted to know where “the rust and rot was.” Was it a low Number 3 Condition Class that runs and drives but needs some cosmetic work short of a full restoration? Or was it a low Number 4 Condition Class that needs a lot of panel replacement and structural repair? There was a lot to consider as there always is in the pursuit of a “barn find.” The inspector seemed to be overall impressed with the body panels and structural integrity of the AMX. There were some troublesome discoveries along the way, mostly little things like the window regulators and horn not working. You can read the entire report here.
The first item on a buyer’s “To Do” list should be to contact the Cars-On-Line Inspection Service. Buying a collector car is much different than buying a new or used late model car. It is always a “buyer beware” type of sale. With a network of inspectors all over the U.S. and Canada, your first line of protection in any sale is a COL Collector Car Inspection. Learn more about collector car inspections when you read our COL Inspection Referral Service page.

1972 Ferrari 365 GTC/4
The hottest cars in the collector car market are early 1970’s Ferraris. There seems to be no end to the appetite among collectors for the little exotic sports cars from Italy. But even in that environment this 1972 Ferrari 365 GTC/4 is a rare find. This is a multiple FCA Concours award winner. It is being offered for sale at The Last Detail in North Chicago. They tell us it was awarded the FCA Platinum Award in 2002. It remains a handsome example of Colombo V-12 Ferrari in Rosso Corsa paint and tan leather interior. And there were just 33,475 miles on it at the time of the listing. They say it comes heavily documented with photos and owner history. It also has the factory books and manuals in a leather case, service records, warranty card, tool roll and spare tire. It also has a Ferrari cover and seat covers. This is the type of early Ferrari that gets big money.
Actual Pace Car
Here is one for a true collector who wants to display something special in their collection. This car is not meant for street use, but as a museum display only. This is a 1995 Corvette Pace Car, one of the three cars actually used to pace the Indianapolis 500 race in 1995. It was recently released from the GM Heritage collection, and is now being offered for sale by Orlando Classic Cars. This is not one of the dealer editions, but an actual pace car used to lead the parade laps of the Indianapolis 500 festivities. All three cars lead the warmup laps for the actual race. Orlando Classic Cars notes that the car is being sold on a Bill of Sale only. GM issues a scrap title on all modified cars released from GM Heritage Collection as they are not meant for street use. 1959 Ford Skyliner Retractable
Greg at Vanguard Motor Sales wants to show you an incredible 1959 Ford Fairlane 500 Galaxie Skyliner Retractable (longest name in automotive history) with the mechanical disappearing top. Kudos to Vanguard Motor Sales because they actually show the top go up and down which is what you want to see in a video ad. That’s worth watching the video by itself. But Greg also gets the car up on a lift to show you the undercarriage. This is what a sales video should be. Click the video window above to view.

Collector Cars with Low Miles
2003 Corvette Pace Car
Orlando Classic Cars is also offering a 2003 Corvette 50th Anniversary Indy Pace Car Convertible for sale. And this one has only 21 actual miles. No, that’s not a misprint. We did say “21” actual miles from new. This car was owned by a Chevrolet dealer and comes out of his private collection. The VIN was special ordered ending in 1953 in honor of the original first-year Corvettes. Orlando Classic Cars says the original window sticker is still on the car and was never removed. They are only original once, and this one is “very original.”

1936 Cord 810
Look at all the photos of this 1936 Cord 810 Westchester Sedan which was just listed for sale by Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles. 1966 Big Block Corvette
A Canadian Corvette collector listed his prized 1966 Corvette 427 Convertible for sale in our Corvette Section. He says the Amerian sports car is an original “survivor” with a numbers matching “born with” drivetrain and mostly paint, soft top and interior. It comes with its original documentation including build sheet, original loan and sales invoice, protecto plate, glove box literature etc. When he first listed the car he was asking $122,000 in US dollars for the Corvette. But just this week he dropped the price to $109,000. Now we are getting somewhere. Have it inspected. The owner believes the low miles are original.

Deals of the Day
1957 Ford E-Bird
It’s not often that we get a 1957 Ford Thunderbird E Code car at this price point. This week Haggle Me, an internet broker, listed this classic T-Bird for sale for way below the average market value. They say it has matching numbers chassis. In the description they note a 3-speed manual transmission, Porthole hardtop and white canvas soft top. While the carburtetors have been rebuilt and the engine runs smoothly, the paint quality is said to be “poor.” It may have a restoration in its future since the components are all there and just need to be reconditioned. This could be a real money maker for the right restorer. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. Their asking price is just $34,500. You don’t see a deal like this very often. Could this be a $100,000 car someday?
1932 Chevrolet 5W Cpe
The people at the Classic Auto Mall tell us that this 1932 Chevrolet Confederate 5-Window Coupe is a “very nice example worth of your consideration.” The 1932 model Chevrolets were very dependable although the depression era sales were not that impressive on them. It has an inline 6 cylinder engine which was said to produce 60 horsepower. The 3-speed transmission and mechanical drum brakes work as of their test drive. They say everything under the hood looke oroginal. Read the description for a more detailed analysis of the inspection and test drive. They ’32 coupe was a stylish looking ride for its time. This one will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. They are asking $19,000.
1929 Ford Model A
Haggle Me, the internet broker, also has a very interesting 1929 Ford Model A for sale this week. It is a rumble seat coupe with the seat out back for your mother-in-law. They tell us this car is very dependable and even describe its appearance as being “gorgeous.” It still has the original 3-speed transmission with a Mitchell 2-speed overdrive and underdrive which was professionally installed. They say it works great for parades. It comes with a trunk that mounts behind the spare tire. The in terior appears to be original style mohair. You should have it inspected before you buy. But hurry! It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. Their asking price is $19,900. They are only original like this once.
1973 Triumph TR6
A Pimento red 1973 Triumph TR6 Convertible was listed for sale this week. It is being offered through Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles. The black convertible soft top and boot match the black interior. It has a 4-speed manual transmission transfering power from the inline 6 cylinder engine with dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors. In addition, it has dual exhaust outlets, convertible soft top, front-wheel disc brakes, Smiths instrumentation, Lucas branded taillights, wooden dashboard, chrome bumpers, and Goodyear tires wrapped around 15-inch alloy wheels. They say it is a charming example of a British sports car, and it will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday next week. Their asking price is $12,750.
1952 MG TD Roadster
Speaking of British sports cars, here is one of the quintessential two-seater sports cars, the ones that were first introduced to the U.S. after World War II. Find classic sports car styling in this 1952 MG TD Roadster, also just listed for sale by Beverly Hills Car Club in L.A. Even in its day, this classic roadster was considered elegant and charming. The ivory exterior is complemented with a green interior. It is equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission, inline-four cylinder engine, SU dual carburetors, slated headlamps, Jaeger instrumentation, convertible soft top, side curtains, Tonneau cover, rear-hinged coach doors, chrome bumpers, bonnet louvers, banjo-style steering wheel, and 15-inch steel wheels with MG-branded hub caps. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Wednesday next week if it lasts that long. They are asking $15,750.

They have this signature low-slung MGB roadster for sale at a great price. It was cared for by its original owner until 2024. It has the proper factory 14-inch wire wheels, a taut black vinyl convertible top, plus a tonneau cover. Look at the photos of the interior where it has fresh carpeting and re-stuffed vinyl seats. A 1.8 Liter inline-four sits mounted longitudinally, paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox featuring electric overdrive for long-distance touring. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. They are asking $16,995.

For the second week in a row a Massachusetts private party seller SOLD a collector car. Last week he made us feel real good when he said he always sells through Cars-On-Line.com.
