Ultimate Sleeper
Cruisin Classics calls it a ‘unicorn.” It truly is a rare one. They just posted this Tuxedo Black 1966 Chevrolet Biscayne L72 427 which was awarded an AACA National First Prize award in 2014. It was also featured in the November 1989 edition of Muscle Cars magazine. This amazing muscle car era Chevrolet is one of only 183 such solid lifter 427 Turbo Jet Biscaynes ever built by Chevrolet in ’66. Only eleven of them are thought to still exist today. What makes it more incredible. They tell us it still has just 29,911 documented miles on the odometer.
The Crusin Classics staff has collected a lot of history on this highly awarded 1966 Chevrolet Biscayne L72 427 which they have dubbed the “Bisquick.” It is for sale this week on their website. You can read all about it at the link. They say the engine bay in this car is “show quality.” Although the original engine was blown by the second owner while racing it, it has a true L72 replacement (casting # 3869942) that was installed in 1988. The past several owners have been good about keeping it original. The orange L72 big block engine boasts 11:1 compression creating a beastly 425 hp! The solid lifter cam and cast iron heads are significant to this L72 V8. It has the orange valve covers, a factory aluminum Winters intake, a correct 3246 Holley 4-barrel carburetor, and an NOS black dual-snorkel air cleaner with “427 Turbo-Jet 425hp” sticker. The car still has the Biscayne specific CW code 4-core HD radiator with correct shroud. It even has correct ’66 plug wires, GM hoses and belts. The engine turns a Muncie M21 4-speed mated to a 12-bolt rear end. They even rebuilt the F41 sports car suspension.
The Tuxedo Black “Bisquick” has a contrasting red interior which was restored to the same high standard as the rest of the award winning car. In the dash is a 120-mph speedometer, fuel gauge and a rare 7k tachometer. The correct steely wheels give it an authentic look, enhancing its “sleeper” status.
Follow this link to view a walk-around video inspection and then take it for a test drive.
This car represents a rare opportunity to own an authentic piece of Chevrolet history.

Chevelle SS Convertible
Marc Shiliro has searched the collector car market for the perfect 1970 Chevelle SS L34 Convertible, and he thinks he may have found it for his collection. One of the top collectors in the country runs MS Classic Cars in Seekonk, Massachusetts. He says he has tapped the best Chevelle experts, guys like Chris White, Jerry MacNeish and Rick Nelson, to find an authentic 1970 Chevelle SS Convertible. This RPO L34 example has been painstakingly restored. When Marc purchased it in 2024 he left no page unturned to make sure this car runs and drives the way a Chevelle SS should. Read the text on his ad page. This one is now for sale. Click here to watch Marc’s detailed inspection video.
Rare E-Bird Sighting
Although there are thousands of first generation Ford Thunderbirds in the collector car community, there are only a few with the E-Code dual carburetor setups. This Gunmetal Gray 1957 Ford Thunderbird is one of only 1,499 E-Codes ever produced. It is being offered for sale at Ideal Classic Cars in Florida. It has the correct 312 ci V8 with the 2X4-barrel carburetors. It comes with the factory functional hood scoop, Ford-O-Matic transmission, power steering, power brakes and power seat. This is a rare E-Code factory high performance model Ford Thunderbird.
Land Rover 6X6
Here is something you won’t see everyday. A 1992 Land Rover Defender 110 has been custom rconverted as a 6X6 by a manufacturer in the U.K. Note the black fender flares, side steps on each side, black diamond-plate panels on the front fenders and hood. It has a Warn winch on the front bumper. The tailgate folds down to revaeal a pair of inward facing jump seats. The exhaust “stacks” come up through the bed. Underneath you will find three differentials. You will want to click this link to watch a walk-around video. Not only does it look cool, it actually functions as the ultimate 6-wheel drive off road vehicle.
Auctions

Over 750 vehicles are set to cross the auction block later this month when the GAA Classic Winter Auction happens in Greensboro, North Carolina, February 20-22, 2025. We will be reporting all the action when the giant collector car auction takes place in the Automobile Palace. Classic car dealers from throughout the Southwestern U.S. will be on hand to buy special cars for their inventories. But the event is open to the public and anybody with a bidder’s registration can bid on these cars. Here are a few we will be watching closely.
1970 Chevelle SS LS6
One of the top sales at this year’s GAA Classic Winter Auction will happen on Saturday, February 22, 2025 when a 1970 Chevelle SS LS6 454 2-Door Hardtop will cross the auction block to rave review. The Carolina Blue Chevelle is said to have gotten a full rotisserie restoration. You can read some of the documentation in the ad photos (follow the link to their ad page.) There is also a receipt for engine work done on this big block 454 including Magnaflux and rebuild work. You can imagine how good this monster big block car sounds. What do you think it will sell for? Watch with us later in the month.
Chrysler Dual-Cowl Phaeton
The GAA tells us that there are only about a dozen 1929 Chrysler 75 Dual Cowl Phaeton vintage motorcars left in existence. There were only 248 of these Chrysler Dual Cowl Phaetons every produced. This one, in two-tone green, will be offered for sale at the GAA Classic Winter Auction in Greensboro this month. The wire wheels are period correct with wide white wall tires. It has hydraulic assisted drum brakes, a Flat 6 engine all still original, brown leather interior and dual side mounted tires. It is an example of the quality of classic car you might expect to see at a GAA Classic Auction.
Classic Cadillac Convertible
Here is a classic ‘50s Cadillac convertible which will be offered at No Reserve during the upcoming GAA Classic Winter Auction, February 20-22, 2025. The maroon 1952 Cadillac Convertible is the product of a complete frame-off restoration. Follow the link to see dozens of detailed photos on the ad page. Note the Kelsey Hayes wire wheels and well preserved leather interior. The 331 cubic inch V8 has been rebuilt according to the ad copy. It would have overhead valves and high compression with a single four-barrel carburetor. What an excellent find.

It has a rare rose color with a black interior. He tells us the classic Ford remains all original except for the wheels. But he says he has the original wheels and hubcaps to go with it. You should have this one inspected before you buy to get a better idea of the condition.

Deals of the Day
1970 Dodge Coronet 500
Here is a rare opportunity to own a true Mopar muscle car at a very low price. This 1970 Dodge Coronet 500 was just posted for sale by WeBe Autos, a broker in New York. They say it has had only two owners, and comes with an NOM 360 ci V8 engine, rebuilt with 5,000 miles, and an automatic transmission. It has some performance upgrades as you will see when you read through the ad copy. But they say the body panels are all original, including floors and trunk. Much of this car still has the original paint. Click here for a detailed walk-around video and hear it run. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. Their asking price is $28,900.
1998 Indy Pace Car
I’ve always thought this 1998 Corvette Pace Car Convertible was the most beautiful Indianapolis 500 pace car of all time. The color combined with the Indy 500 decals are stunning. When a really nice one was listed for sale by MGM Classic Cars this week we knew we would list it here in the DEAL of the DAY. The price is right. One of just 1,163 Pace Car editions provided to Chevrolet dealers in 1998, this one still has just 40,000 miles. It has had two previous owners and comes with all service records. They say it has always been garage kept. Click here to view a walk-around inspection. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. Their asking price is only $21,500.
1975 Hurst Olds W-30
As the muscle car era was fading, a few significant performance companies still made great cars. One of them was Hurst. Combining with Oldsmobile, Hurst had been manufacturing performance cars for many years when they came out with the 1975 Hurst Oldsmobile W-30, the last of their long line of muscle cars. This one is being offered for sale by North Shore Classics in Illinois. It has the Husrt dual-gate shifter and swivel bucket seats. It is significant for its louvered hood design. Although it originally came with a 455, it now has a small block 350. Click here to watch a walk-around video. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. Their asking price is only $19,900.
1965 Buick LeSabre
A factory original 1965 Buick LeSabre Custom 400 sedan was just listed for sale at Streetside Classics in Atlanta. This big luxury 4-door car looks good from the exterior, but open the door and you will notice some wear and tear on the interior. It is a driver class car with a 300 ci small block V8 under the hood. The color is called Silver Cloud, and the original dealer invoice confirms that it is the color that came on this sedan. It has power steering and power brakes. Click here to watch a walk-around video and hear it run. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday. They are only asking $14,995.
2006 Pontiac Solstice
There are a plethora of pre-owned 2006 Pontiac Solstice two-seater sports cars on the market these days. The supply is keeping the prices low. But here is one you should check out. This 2006 Pontiac Solstice Convertible is said to have only 20,000 actual miles. The private party seller from Plymouth, Michigan tells us it remains in pristine condition with a 5-speed manual transmission. It comes with documents and has been stored winters since new. The senior citizen owner is a non-smoker and he says he keeps the Solstice covered during inside storage. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Wednesday next week. His asking price is $14,800.
2002 Pontiac Trans Am
Remember when Pontiac stopped production on the Firebird and Trans Am? That was in 2002. For the finale of the Trans Am, Pontiac decided to produce a limited edition or collector edition that only was available in one color scheme. This yellow 2002 Pontiac Trans Am Convertible is a prime example and born to be collectible. It is being offered for sale by the Online Auto Connection in West Seneca, New York. It came from the factory with special paint, a rear spoiler, front fog lights, and an anti-theft system, plus all power options. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. Their asking price is only $17,999.
1991 BMW 850i
For a BMW collector, this 1991 BMW 850i was a high end sports car that went for big money when it was first launched. I remember when these were priced like a Corvette. So it was a surprise to see this beautiful grand touring coupe being offered for sale through MGM Classic Cars for a deep discount to the average value. MGM tells us it is one of the best preserved 850’s you’ll find. They say it was meticulously maintained and cared for since new. It does have high miles, but seriously, for a BMW 127k miles is not that much. It comes with records and receipts, pluse the original books and manuals and tools. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. The asking price is only $17,994.
Often there are more cars that deserve to be in the DEAL of the DAY than we can schedule for our front page feature. Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for the DEAL of the DAY this week. Remember, you saw them here first:
