Canadian Surrogate ’55
A rare and beautiful 1955 Pontiac Laurentian Convertible was listed for sale in our Pontiac Section this week. What a find for collectors. Only 656 Canadian manufactured Laurentian convertibles were built that year. It is not known how many would have been produced in this stunning yellow and white two-tone paint combination.
The rare Canadian Pontiac was listed for sale through Streetside Classics out of their Atlanta store. (Streetside Classics has six locations throughout the U.S.) They say the body “sits proudly on 14-inch wheels wrapped in G78-14 tires, with spotlights and mirrors adding extra flair to this Canadian-built cruiser.” Although it represents as original, it has been strategically updated with non-original items such as a Jasper 350 V8 crate engine and RetroSound radio with Bluetooth capability and auxiliary input delivering modern audio through kick panel speakers and dual 5x7s mounted behind the dash. Two 6×9 speakers in carpeted boxes fill the trunk with rich sound.
GM of Canada and Pontiac saw that there was a lot of money to be made by building cars in Canada. Because Canada had tariffs imposed on cars made in the U.S. and imported to Canada, GM found it was more profitable to build the cars in Canada using parts made in the U.S. Final assembly was usually done at the Oshawa, Ontario plant. The Laurentian had unique series designations which were different from the U.S. made Pontiac Star Chiefs.
Although the Laurentian looks much like a Pontiac Star Chief from the U.S., it actually had more in common with the full sized Chevrolet models and shared the same chassis. The Laurentian was available in all of the body styles of the Chevrolet Bel Air, including hardtop coupe. sedan and convertible models. The ’55 Laurentian & ’55 Bel Air actually shared the same structural framework. This is why the Laurentian is much shorter than it’s U. S. counterpart, the Pontiac Star Chief. Even the squared fenders on the Canadian Laurentian were the same as the Chevrolet Bel Air. Some of the interior treatments are similar to the Chevrolet, but with Pontiac steering hub and logos.
Since car collectors tend to like anything that is rare and unusual, this Laurentian checks all the boxes. Click this link to see a walk-around video and hear it run.

Raleigh Classic
We’re here are the Raleigh Classic Winter Auction in Youngsville, North Carolina this weekend. This is the last big collector car auction of the year for 2024, and one of our favorite auctions to attend. Buyers enjoy this auction because of the Southern hospitality and because this is where you find old cars that have amazingly low miles. We saw a whole lineup of Cadillacs here today that have been treated kindly by their years, many with low miles and some even going at No Reserve this weekend. You will want to follow our report from Raleigh for the two day event. This is where classic car dealers from all over the country bid on top level cars for their inventories.

1951 Dodge Power Wagon
Weighing in at almost 6,000 pounds, this 1951 Dodge Power Wagon hauls some history around with it. The Dodge Power Wagons gained recognition during the Korean War as they were the powerful four-wheel drive trucks that could cover any kind of terrain. The ¾-ton G741 series trucks are much sought after today by collectors. This one was just listed for sale by the Classic Auto Mall in Pennsylvania. They say it has undergone a body off restoration. Other upgrades include paint and new oak bed, and a new tailgate. LED marker lights and halogen headlamps provide more visibility for the monster truck. They say the red painted two-piece wheels have been meticulously restored and now sport 37×12.50-16.5LT run flats inside their knobby exterior rubber. You can see the cab interior in the photos. Great Race Car
A Georgia collector listed his prized 1939 Ford Cabriolet for sale this week. He says this car was specially built to do the Great Race. Our readers know that the Great Race is held every year in the early summer. It is a cross country competition under controlled conditions that pits antique vintage collector vehicles against each other to reach control points along pre-determined routes here in the U.S The car has a 59ab flathead engine, original transmission and rear end, plus updates such as power rack steering, power brakes, modern gauges and wire harness. It has nice paint and interior (see the photos on the ad page.) The seller says it drives easily at highwway speed. He indicates that it is clean underneath, with no undercoating. 1969 Road Runner
A 1969 Plymouth Road Runner race car project was listed for sale this morning. The seller says it is a real tube chassis drag car, a big block Mopar, Liberty Equalizer, 4-speed transmission. This is a project car for you to redo your way. The seller says it was an estate sale and he doesn’t have much history on it. You can read all about it on the ad page at the link. The car was turned into a race car in 1970.

2019 Corvette ZR1
A black 2019 Corvette ZR1 ZTK 3ZR, top of the line late model is a very desirable sports car. This is the type of car that collectors will always want because it is rare even in its own time. The 8-speed automatic is a performance upgrade meant for the Corvette. The miles were only 1,997 when this listing was first published. It has two roofs and the whole car is Xpel wrapped. When the Wisconsin seller first listed it he was asking $248,000. But just this week he dropped the price to $189,900.

1972 Yenko Duece
A big block Nova was listed for sale by Streetside Classics out of their Atlanta location. This 1972 Yenko Deuce Nova is stunning in black with white Yenko stripes. The cowl hood gives this Nova an extra dose of attitude. It has a Holley 4-barrell and long-tube headers feeding into a throaty FlowMaster dual exhaust. It transfers power with a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission pulling a 10-bolt rear end. The suspension features Bilstein shocks. If you are looking for a muscle car, here is one that will get you attention wherever you go.

1970 Pontiac Lemans
As a fill-in for a GTO, this 1970 Pontiac Lemans Coupe is a muscle car in its own right. This week Beverly Hills Car Club has this classic Lemans for sale which has been recently updated with receipts totalling $7,000. However it is not currently running. If you are up to the task, it might be an easy one to get back on the road, or restore. It looks like it has a Pioneer stereo system. The California car is equipped with an automatic transmission, V8 engine, Rochester carburetor and dual exhaust. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. The asking price is only $12,750.
1954 Chevrolet Handyman
A gray 1950 Hudson Commodore Six was listed by Unique Classic Cars in Mankato, Minnesota. Although it is showing its age, the price makes it worth looking into. It has a 232 ci Inline 6 with 3-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The overdrive switch is to the left of the steering column. Unique Classic Cars tells us it runs and drives the way it is. But it is certain that a new owner would want to take it to the next level and restore it. These Hudsons have a true following in the collector car community. It won’t last long at this price, so we are making it our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. Their asking price is only $18,900.
1955 Ford Thunderbird
Beverly Hills Car Club just listed another first generation Ford Thunderbird for sale. They have been finding these cars tucked away in storage all over the country. Every week they seem to come up with another gem. This red 1955 Ford Thunderbird has the iconic black and white two-tone interior. They say it is equipped with an automatic transmission, 292 V8 engine, dual exhaust, hood scoop, front fender louvers, driver-side rearview mirror, 2-spoke steering wheel, and Ford-branded chrome hub caps with whitewall tires. What’s more, they say it is mechanically sound. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. They are only asking $18,500.
1963 Rambler 440
This sweet looking 1963 AMC Rambler 440 Convertible is a gem from another era. It has been listed for sale this week by Cruisin Classics in Columbus, Ohio. The paint is said to be “just average” but looks good in the photos. This Rambler has undergone a respray in its original colors of Briarcliff Red with a Frost White accent band that appears to have been done quite some time ago. They say the 3.2 liter 196ci inline 6 cylinder engine was rebuilt in 2023. It has a 3-speed manual transmission with a shifter on the column. The interior looks original. While the car needs some TLC, they say it is a pleasure to hop in and drive it. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday. The asking price is $12,995.
1963 Ford Thunderbird
Back in the 1960’s the Ford Thunderbird was a sports car that had a mystique of elegance and sophistication. It wasn’t just a car, it was a driving experience. This 1963 Ford Thunderbird reminds us of those times. It is finished in its factory color Sandshell Beige (T) accompanied by the same color interior which perfectly complements the car’s timeless design. Equipped with an automatic transmission, V8 engine, four-barrel carburetor, quadruple headlamps, rear fender skirts, hood scoop, front bucket seats, and 14-inch steel wheels with hubcaps, it exudes the comfort and performance of its day. They say it is mechanically sound, and is sure to impress you when you see it. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Wednesday next week if it lasts that long. Their asking price is $10,750.
1984 Pontiac Fiero
They say they’ve verified that this 1984 Pontiac Fiero has just 57,943 actual miles. It is being offered for sale at the Classic Auto Mall in Morgantown, Pennsylvania. An original example of a first year Fiero, the unique mid engine platform and rear wheel drive made it revolutionary and its origins are based on this inaugural model. This was the original. They were only offered in white and red that first year. The body on this one is not perfect. (Read the ad copy for a review.) It has the 2.5 liter four cylinder powerplant rated at 92 horsepower and fueled by a 1-barrel carburetor, and transfers power via a 4-speed manual transmission. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week. Their asking price is only $10,500.
1989 Cadillac S&S Hears
Here is something different. They used to say back in the day that a hearse was a great vehicle to buy as a used car because they got so little use. Here is a 1989 Cadillac Fleetwood S&S Hearse that was just listed for sale at the Classic Auto Mall in Pennsylvania. They say it only has 71,975 title verified actual miles. They say the hearse drives smoothly as you would expect. But there were some problems with the air conditioning and the check engine light keeps coming on. They say “If you are dying for more info” on this one you can give them a call. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. Their asking price is $7,900.
