Power Wagon Tribute
Someone with some animal spirits put a lot of work into this one-of-a-kind 1949 Dodge B Series Pickup turning it into a full-on Power Wagon of sorts. The 4-wheel-drive show truck sits on a 1988 ¾-Ton Dodge chassis and sports a 4-inch suspension lift as well as a built 440 Mopar engine with aluminum heads putting out 500 horsepower. The cab shows a 2-inch chop with four inches of the windshield taken out. No other truck looks quite like it.
This 1949 Dodge Pickup was just listed for sale by its Kansas private owner. If you are a car fanatic you may remember it from the 2016 Snap-On-Tool Calendar where they dubbed it the “Green Machine.” That is real Mopar Sublime Green paint with some Gold Pearl mixed in. The cab interior is custom fabricated with the innovative custom dash and console made of all metal (no fiberglass.) It has air conditioning, power windows, Flaming River tilt column and hidden Bluetooth stereo. Those are 16” Raceline wheels with 33-inch Hercules tires. The bed is all custom with hickory wood.
The seller says there are so many custom mods on this truck it would be like writing a book to list them all. Give him a call to discuss the build. It would easily run over $100,000 to build. His asking price is way cheaper.

Duesenberg Wins at the Wynn
That’s a Duesy! A 1931 Duesenberg Model J Taper Tail Speedster won the Best of Show Pre-War trophy at the annual Concours at Wynn Las Vegas earlier this month. It took top prize out of 275 vehicles on display at the Wynn Golf Club. The one-of-a-kind Taper Tail Speedster was designed by Gordon Buehrig. It was built for a businessman from San Francisco who is credited with inventing commercial aviation. It has a rumble seat and pontoon fenders. The classic motorcar was presented by the family of General William Lyon of Coto de Caza, California. Relatively new to the collector car market, the Concours Wynn Las Vegas is in its third year. We expect it to be one of the top Concours d’Elegance in the country. The Wynn and Encore Las Vegas are luxury hotel towers with a total of 4,748 spacious hotel rooms, suites and villas. The concours is held on the Wynn Golf Club course.
Chevelle SS Inspection
As the prices on 1966 through 1971 Chevelle Super Sports keep escalating, it becomes more and more important not to make a mistake on condition when buying one. Condition class determines value. An Iowa man wanted us to go half-way across the country to the West Coast to inspect a 1970 Chevelle SS which he wanted to buy. He was aware that the air conditioning was not working, but he wanted us to make sure the body panels were solid. The independent inspector found that the air conditioning compressor was not locked up and the clutch turned freely. Although the body work was done nicely, he found bondo throughout the body. He also found some rust in the trunk due to leaks in the weather stripping. The paint had some scratches in it. The transmission was definitely not matching numbers. Overall, the Chevelle performed well and would be a fair Number Three driver. At least now the buyer knew what he was getting into.
Our newsletter readers know that you should always have a pre-purchase inspection done on a collector vehicle before you buy. There are no warranties on old cars, so it is buyer beware when purchasing a collector car. Click here to find out how to order a pre-purchase inspection and appraisal.

1954 Hudson Hornet
A 1954 Hudson Hornet Brougham Convertible is so rare today that you don’t often see one. Only 290 of them were actually produced in 1954. Car collector and celebrity Steve McQueen had one in his collection. This special edition Brougham Convertible, bathed in Lipstick Red paint, turned up in our New Listings this week as it was listed for sale by WeBe Autos in New York. Their client/owner says it has undergone a complete restoration with leather upholstery done by a previous owner. It has the “super induction” Twin H-Power carburetors feeding a 308 ci inline 6 cylinder engine. They believe it to be the original engine. The dual range Hydramatic transmission with overdrive and independent front suspension were features of this Hornet edition. Note the new chrome wire wheels. The black convertible top comes with its own parade boot.
Porsche 356C Cabriolet
While classic cars in general have been dropping in value this year, this 1965 Porsche 356C Cabriolet seems to be one of the popular classic sports cars that remains high on the collector hit list. The timeless classic is being offered for sale by Classic Auto Showplace in Troy, Michigan this week. They say it is documented with the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. With approximately 91,000 miles, the car originally came from the Orlando area. Factory options include, wood steering wheel, ventelated chrome 15” wheels, dual headrests and the “Talbot” mirror. They say it retains its matching numbers engine and 4-speed manual transmission.
Noble M400 Exotic Car
Here is one you don’t see very often in the public collector car market. It is a 2007 Noble M400 exotic sports car. Rock Solid Motorsports out of Elkhart, Indiana just listed it for sale. It is one of only 75 that were ever built. Noble Automotive was founded in 1999 and quickly developed a reputation for building very capable, track-focused sports cars. The race focused M400 was a car that had nice street manners but would really outperform on a road course. This one has just over 4,400 actual miles. The Titanium Silver exterior is nicely complimented by the Noble’s factory front chin spoiler, factory side air inlet ducts, factory adjustable rear spoiler and a set of Forgeline wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. The Noble’s factory Alcantara interior is in excellent condition throughout and features a factory Alcantara wrapped roll cage. Click here to watch a walk-around video produced by Rock Solid Motorsports. If you are looking for a rare exotic sports car, this one should satisfy your need for speed.
Auctions

Cars-On-Line.com will be heading for the Raleigh Classic Winter Auction, December 6-7, 2024, two weeks from now, at the Capitol Auto Auction facility in Youngsville, North Carolina, just north of Raleigh. Not only is it the last big auction of the year, it is one of the best for true vintage classics and great 1950’s cars. It has the reputation of being one of the best auctions to buy true low miles collector cars as well. Many of the top collector car dealers throughout the Southeastern states will be there. They say there will be over 300 choice vehicles in the sale. They take pride in curating the best cars in the hobby for the two-day event. Here are just a few to whet your whistle.
1947 Chrysler Woody Barrelback
Don’t miss this 1947 Chrysler Town and Country “Barrelback” Woody Sedan as it crosses the auction block at the Raleigh Classic Winter Auction on Friday, December 6, in Youngsville, North Carolina. It may be the nicest one to still exist out of the four inline 8 cylinder examples that are known. In 2006, it was treated to a comprehensive nut-and-bolt frame-off restoration. They say no detail was left undone. This is the “barrelback” known as “Big Red” among woody collectors. It won its class at Meadow Brook and has received the AACA Junior and Senior award. This is an historic opportunity!
1955 Dodge Custom Royal
The full name for this beautiful 1950’s classic Mopar is 1955 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer. They are rare as frog’s hairs today. This one is a 2-door hardtop and they say it still has just 62,372 miles on the odometer. The spectacular feature on this car is the tri-color paint scheme. Note the Sapphire White over Paris Rose Poly colors with a black top. It comes equipped with power steering, power brakes and heater/defroster. And, yes, it has the Super Red Ram 270 ci Hemi V8 under the hood. Watch for it to cross the auction block at the Raleigh Classic Winter Auction early on Saturday.

The engine is a 350 small block with a Richmond 5-speed transmission. They say it took 11 years to build. Click here to view a walk-around video and hear it run.

Deals of the Day
1969 Mustang Convertible
Although there are still about 350,000 1965-66 early Mustangs on the road today, far fewer of the later second generation Mustangs have survived. So 1969 and 1970 Mustang convertibles are pretty rare today. Here is a 1969 Mustang Convertible that surprised us this week when it was listed for sale by Garage Kept Classics in Grand Rapids, Michigan. They say it has a 302 ci V8 with an automatic transmission. What’s more, they tell us it drives well, delivering smooth performance. The yellow exterior looks great with a contrasting black soft top. Click here to hear it start and view a walk-around video. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. They are only asking $19,900.
1930 Ford Model A
Look through the photos on this 1930 Ford Model A which was just listed by Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles. Surprisingly, the interior looks as good on this old Ford as the exterior. Obviously, it is not a show car. But the accoutrements are note worth. It has a floor-shifted 3-speed manual transmission, inline-four engine, single exhaust outlet, driver-side rearview mirror, hood louvers, four-spoke steering wheel, manual-crank windows, dual-side rearview mirrors, steel bumper, Boyce Meter hood ornament, Firestone white-wall tires, 19-inch wheels, and a full-sized spare tire that is rear-mounted with a cover. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. Their asking price is $12,750.
1938 Plymouth P6
We looked at this 1938 Plymouth P6 Deluxe Sedan that was just listed for sale by Classic Auto Mall in Pennsylvania. Okay, we know the body is rough and could use some cosmetics. It is certainly a “twenty footer.” But they say the drivetrain has been mechanically restored. The paint, chrome and brightwork all need attention. The interior should be redone. But Classic Auto Mall tells us it has “good bones.” You can drive it while you restore it, they say. Make no mistake, this car is a project car for restoration, not a quality driver. But it will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. They are asking $10,900
1961 Ford Galaxie
Looking for a “driver quality” collector car? Check out this 1961 Ford Galaxie with power steering, power front disc brakes, dual exhaust, Vintage Air and a retro radio. The slide blue exterior is complemented by a blue interior. Look at those photos. This one looks real nice. Under the hood is a upgraded 302 ci V8 engine and a smooth-shifting C-4 automatic transmission. They say it runs as good as it looks. With its modern upgrades you can do more and go more. The car’s classic lines and brightwork will stand the local car show test. Click here to review a walk-around video and hear it run. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday. They are asking $19,999.
1968 Corvair Monza
Ralph Nader would turn over in his grave if he knew what great cars the classic Corvairs turned out to be. Here is a 1968 Corvair Monza Convertible which has stood the test of time. It has a flat 6 cylinder engine and 4-speed manual transmission. I think you’ll agree that the wheels which they choose for this car really set it off. The private party seller from Clarkston, Michigan tells us that the 2-owner Corvair has been pampered and maintained its whole life. And it still has only 32,582 original miles, according to the ad copy. He says the top and paint are 25 years old. But more recently he had both carbs rebuilt. He says it starts and drives very well. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Wednesday. His asking price is $16,500.
1977 MGB Convertible
Wow! This 1977 MGB Roadster looks really sharp sitting in the showroom at P.J.’s Auto World in Clearwater, Florida. The mechanics at P.J.’s say it is the nicest one they’ve seen. It has a 4 cylinder 1800 cc engine, dual SU carburetors, painted engine bay and a 4-speed manual transmission. It even has electronic overdrive (very rare for an MGB.) Look at those wire wheels. It has front power disc brakes, a clean and solid undercarriage, lower chin spoiler, dual mirrors, luggage rack and a black convertible top. There is a top boot and a tonneau cover. They say all the gauges work, even the clock. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week. Their asking price is only $18,900
1976 Lincoln Town Car
The big luxury cars of the 1970’s are disappearing from the landscape daily. How many will be left? All we really know is that there are few left in this type of condition. Here is a Silver Diamond Fire 1976 Lincoln Continental Town Car which was retired from daily use in 1989 and maintained ever since. The original mileage is title verified as 76,966 actual miles. It is being offered for sale by Classic Auto Mall as they represent the owner. Its elegance is enhanced by a black vinyl top and fender skirts. On a test drive, Classic Auto Mall noted that the big 460 ci V8 runs smooth and quiet. A few items need to be fixed, (speedometer, A/C, clock, antenna and high beam switch.) But it will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. Their asking price is only $11,000.
Often there are more cars that deserve to be in the DEAL of the DAY than we can schedule for our front page feature. Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for the DEAL of the DAY this week. Remember, you saw them here first:
