Magic Mopar
What is the hottest car in the collector car market right now? If you said the Plymouth Hemi Cuda you could arguably make that case. The “magic Mopar” Hemi car is the one every collector would thrill to own. Having a Hemi Cuda in your collection separates the men from the boys among car collectors.
A Tor-red 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda was just listed by REV! Muscle Cars for one of their high end clients in California. They say the 426 Hemi engine is 100 percent original as is the 4-speed manual transmission with Hurst shifter. What’s more, this Mopar muscle car comes documented. According to the spec sheet it has just a little over 41k miles. Since it is a new arrival at REV! Muscle Cars they have not yet rated it. Stay tuned. Here is a walk-around video to whet your whistle. Sounds real healthy with that big block lopey rumble. Look how straight those body panels are. Only 652 Hemi coupes were built in ’70. This is one of them.
The seller bought the car some years ago from Greg Nelson, noted Mopar collector and expert from Minesota. REV! Muscle Cars told us it comes heavily documented and numbers matching. It has its original fender tag and comes with two broadcast sheets. From there your can see that all the body numbers match and all the drive train numbers match as well. Patrick Krook, REV! Muscle Cars owner and founder says this one is a “cherry on top” type of find. And, of course, it has the shaker hood. “It just doesn’t get any better than that,” he said.
Our records show that this Hemi Cuda would be one of 284 produced with a 4-speed manual transmission in 1970. The 426/425 hp Hemi motor would have come with dual 4-barrel carburetors, Hurst Pistol Grip shifter, factory shaker hood and A34 Super Track Pak option with 4.10 gears.
This amazing Hemi Cuda find is among a very interesting mix of Mopar muscle cars just listed by REV! Muscle Cars, the internet broker. Find more in the Mopar Section below.

Classic Car News This Week
Buick Uprising
We like to keep our newsletter readers uprised of what is happening in the current collector car market. Recently we have been watching a new trend in what is most popular on the Cars-On-Line.com website, the nation’s Number One resource for the collector car hobby. Up until this year Mopar muscle cars have been the most popular cars on our site. The Dodge Muscle Car Section and Plymouth Muscle Car Section were trading places at the top of our statistical charts for years. However, slowly, over the last few months we’ve noticed that the Buick Muscle Car Section has taken over the top spot for muscle cars. The 1970 Buick GS 455 Convertible you see here is our top listing in that section. (Click the link to find it listed under 1970 cars.) Also, the AMC Muscle Car Section has surpassed the Mopars in popularity recently. The reasons for this trend are not immediately clear, but we will keep you up to date as it develops.
Top Car Shows
According to the Cars-On-Line Car Show Calendar, the big show going on this weekend is the Hilton Head Concours d’Elegance in South Carolina, October 31-November 3, 2024. The weather is a balmy 78 degrees although it is cloudy and threatening rain today. It is one of our favorite shows for this time of the year. All the activities lead up to the big concours event on Sunday where some of the top cars in the country will receive awards. The photo you see here is from 2021 when Richard and Patricia Lambert of Port Orange, Florida won Best of Show with their 1932 Packard 903 Deluxe Victoria. Click here to review our coverage of that show. We will let you know on Sunday who this year’s winner will be if you follow our Facebook page.
Great stories come out of these entertaining events. Don’t miss out. You can find out where the nation’s greatest car shows will be each weekend when you follow our Cars-On-Line.com Classic Car Calendar of Events online. Click now to review and bookmark the calendar.

1968 Shelby GT500KR
A rare 1968 Shelby GT500 KR fastback was just listed this week by a Canadian seller. He tells us it has a numbers matching 428 big block engine and comes with its Marti Report for certification. You can see from the photos that the car has undergone a comprehensive restoration. He says it was done to factory spec. What is so special about this KR is that it was produced in a special yellow finish, one of only 43 to be built this way. The restored finish is protected by a PPF. The rebuilt 428 transfers power via a three-speed automatic transmission. It has power disc brakes and power steering. It comes from an esteemed Ford collection in Canada. In the photos you can see that the dash was signed by Carroll Shelby.
1963 Dodge Polara Max Wedge
In this edition of the newsletter you will find some of the best Mopar muscle cars anywhere. A 1963 Dodge Polara 500 Max Wedge was listed out of New York. WeBe Autos, the broker for the New York state area, posted this one for sale. They say it is a rare Stage 2 verion Max Wedge car. It is listed in the Darrell Davis Max Wedge Registry. Now beautifully restored, it has just 52,000 original miles. How rare is it? It is one of only five ever produced by Dodge. It has the 415 horsepower Max Wedge with 11:1 compression. It comes with Galen Govier and Chrysler paperwork. Only 72 Stage 2 Ramchargers were ever built. This is one of them. The 426 ci V8 uses a short ram manifold. Wow! What a find! This listing will send ripples through the Mopar world.
Auctions
Wow! It’s November already! And that means the GAA Classic Fall Auction is next week, November 7-9, 2024. It is your last chance to get to a GAA Classic Auction this year. With 650 + cars and trucks for sale you don’t want to miss this one. You can bid online, over the phone or live in person at the auction in Greensboro, North Carolina. And you can watch the auction with us live on You Tube. (We’ll have the link for you in next week’s newsletter or on our Facebook page.) Our newsletter readers have had a chance to preview some of their top cars as they are being added to the auction inventory. Here are a few fresh listings that you may not have seen yet.
1957 Chevrolet Nomad
For the last few weeks we have been previewing some of the top vehicles that will be sold next week at the GAA Classic Fall Auction in Greensboro, North Carolina, November 7-9, 2024. You’ve seen vintage classic cars, the most sought after muscle cars and late model sports cars to be sold in Greensboro. Now feast your eyes on this 1957 Chevrolet Nomad, a custom fabricated classic that was obviously purpose-built to be a top quality show car. With an LS 6.0 swap, custom real leather interior and a 9” rear end with mini-tubs, this is a beautiful older restoration that will bring top dollar. The Billet Specialty wheels are 18” front and 20” back. It may have been a top show car in its day, but you’ll want to drive it.
1999 Shelby Series 1
Although Carroll Shelby was the author of many different sports cars over the years, the only car that he designed from scratch was his Shelby Series 1 roadster. This 1999 Shelby Series 1 Roadster will be sold at the GAA Classic Fall Auction next week. It is one of the rarest exotic sports car ever built and is one of only 249 ever produced. Shelby ran out of funding to produce these cars after one year so they are imminently collectible today. The car is believed to have just 6,300 miles. The Centennial Silver Shelby has the 4.0L DOHC 32-Valve V8 Engine from the Oldsmobile Aurora and tuned by Shelby American. The suspension and engineering were worthy of a Shelby competition race car although they were meant for street use. With a 6-speed manual transmission, it has drilled and slotted power disc brakes on all four corners.
2018 Regency Xalta LX
As a result of the Covid era, younger families have been exploring the U.S. in their mini-motorhomes instead of flying. It is an incredibly hot trend. We noticed that this 2018 Regency Xalta LX motorhome was in the GAA Classic Fall Auction inventory. What a find! If you are the high bidder on this Mercedes Sprinter based motorhome, you will be traveling in style. Note that it has a complete kitchenette, bathroom with shower and is 4-wheel-drive. It also has some interesting modern features such as blind spot monitoring, light rain sensor and a rear backup camera. With the 3.0L Bluetech V6 Turbo Diesel it only uses a 24-gallon gas tank.

Collector Cars with Low Miles
1979 Cadillac DeVille Phaeton
What a beautiful 1979 Cadillac DeVille Phaeton. WeBe Autos in New York says it is incredibly clean, and has only 2,700 original miles. This is probably as close as you can get to a “new car” that is actually 35 years old. They say it still has the plastic on the carpet. The simulated dark blue convertible top makes it a special “Phaeton” in Cotillion White paint. The interior is leather with 6-way power seats, and automatic climate control. There were only 1,832 Phaetons produced by Cadillac, all in 1979.
Here are more recent Low Miles additions:
1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III, Orlando Classic Cars, 9,900 miles
1991 Lincoln Mark VII, WeBe Autos, 10k miles
1992 Buick Riviera, Sovereign Auto Group, 14,000 miles
1978 Lincoln Mark V Diamond Jubilee, Orlando, 43,000 miles

Project Vehicles for Restoration
DeTomaso Mangusta
This 1970 DeTomaso Mangusta is among the most sought after classic sports cars on the planet. The amazing design transcends decades of elegant Italian sports car marques. It was one of the first Italian cars to use an American V8 and mate it to a German ZF manual transaxle. Along with the Veglia instrumentation, it has a fated shifter, four-wheel disc brakes and 15-inch wheels. Only 401 Mangustas were built. You can see from the photos it needs bodywork and is currently not running, coming out of long term storage. What would this one be worth if you recommissioned it?

1931 Ford Model A
It is a stunning example of an American hot rod, says the California seller. He was describing his 1931 Ford Model A Roadster. He says it is all genuine Henry Ford metal with an updated and braced original frame. That’s important because there is a modified 302 ci Ford engine in that frame with a Holley 4-barrel and custom intake. The Pete & Jakes chrome front suspension will impress you. It has disc brakes and a chrome Vega steering box. When he first listed it for sale he was asking $48,500. But he just dropped the price. (Are you sitting down?) The new price is $15,000. Hurry!

Deals of the Day
1981 Pontiac Firebird Formula
Pontiac was smart enough to know that not eveyone could afford to buy a Trans Am back in the day. So they came out with a Firebird Formula at a lower price point. These were literally Trans Ams by another name. This 1981 Pontiac Firebird Formula is a great example. It is being offered for sale this week at the Classic Auto Mall in Pennsylvania. They say it has just 17,592 miles showing, but they cannot verify its accuracy. It comes with a rebuilt 455 ci V8 engine under a dual scooped hood. It has front disc brakes. The A/C was removed. But they say it runs out strong. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. Their asking price is $19,000.
1955 Ford Fairlane Victoria
Don’t miss out on this deal. A 1955 Ford Fairlane Victoria has been listed for sale by Cody’s Classic Cars in Wisconsin. They have 269 photos of it on their ad page at the link. It really looks good in the photos, and they say it runs and drives “nice.” The dual exhaust give it a throaty sound. They describe it as a driver quality condition classic car. The interior is “newer.” But original chrome and trim as in “driver condition.” Several boxes of spare parts are in the trunk. Click here to review a walk-around video and hear it run. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. Their asking price is only $14,900. Hurry!
1958 Ford Ranchero
The Throttlestop in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin usually deals in only high end, expensive collector cars and specialty cars. But they posted this 1958 Ford Ranchero for sale at a great low price. If you look through the photos there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with the bodywork. Panels are straight and pretty nice. There are some small imperfections in the paint, if you want to get real picky. And the chrome shows some very light pitting. They say there is no major rust or rot, just normal wear for an unrestored undercarriage. The ‘58’s are very desirable because they are a one-off body style. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. Their asking price is only $16,900.
1959 Ford Thunderbird
A Colonial White 1959 Ford Thunderbird was just listed for sale at Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles. Check out the contrasting red/white interior. It is equipped with an automatic transmission, V8 engine, four-barrel carburetor, dual exhaust outlets, rear fender skirts, Limited Edition side badging, tail fins, slated grill, chrome trim/bumpers, steel wheels with hubcaps, Goodyear white-line tires, and a hood scoop. The interior has bucket seats, power windows, sun visors and a full size spare tire. They say they have the owner’s manual and service receipts back to 1966. They say you will be impressed. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday. The asking price is $16,750.
1982 Corvette
Universal Muscle Cars, a classic car dealer in Maryland, just posted this 1982 Corvette for sale. The Corvette is “beautiful” in its Gold metallic paint with black mirrored T-Tops. And they say it has only 57,400 original documented miles. The car was owned by a Corvette guy who was very meticulous about maintenance. They say it comes loaded with just about every option Chevrolet put on a Corvette back then. It has the original Crossfire fuel injection, and they say the engine runs smoothly. The transmission is a 4-speed automatic. They say the glass T-Tops are new and the weather stripping has been replaced. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Wednesday next week. Their asking price is $19,900.
1955 Chevrolet 210
A 1955 Chevrolet 210 Sedan was just posted for sale by a private party seller from Phoenix, Arizona. He says it runs and drives well. It did receive a restoration some time ago, and remains in its original state with a 6 cylinder engine and 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. The door handles, bumpers and mirrors all have pits from the salt air. The title and tags are from Arizona. We would conclude from the photos that your should have it inspected before you buy. But hurry. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. His asking price is only $15,500
Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II
A long-wheelbase 1976 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II has that limousine mystique. This one comes from Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles. They say it has been in long-term ownership with roots to sunny California. It is stil finished in its factory color of Walnut complemented by a brown interior with a veneer trim. The car is an automatic with a V8 engine, dual caruretors and power steering. The instruments are Smith/Lucas and it has 15-inch wheels with the Rolls-Royce hubcaps. It has air conditioning, power windows, speed control, center console and a lockable glove compartment. They say it would need brake service before you drive it. Yet, it will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. Their asking price is only $12,750.
Often there are more cars that deserve to be in the DEAL of the DAY than we can schedule for our front page feature. Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for the DEAL of the DAY this week. Remember, you saw them here first:
