Legendary Performance
If a 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge in Carousel Red paint should cross your path you know you are looking at a legendary performance muscle car. But if that GTO Judge should happen to be a rare Ram Air IV version … well, that’s a hallowed moment in your memory that you will not likely forget. This is one of those moments.
RK Motors Charlotte posted a rare 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge Ram Air IV for sale recently. It is one of only 210 ever produced with a RA IV 400 engine, 4-speed transmission and 4.33 rear axle ratio. It is in its factory Code TT Carousel Red skin with the Judge appearance package and a Muncie M21 4-speed manual transmission. They tell us it has the 10-bolt 4.33 SafeT Track rear axle. And it comes with PHS documentation. You can follow all the photos of the numbered parts in the photo gallery on their ad page.
The RA IV was designed for drag racing. Revving up to 6,500 RPM, the Ram Air IV featured new larger intake ports, a new aluminum two-plane high-rise intake manifold with removable heat crossover, and new 1.65:1 rockers, which increased valve lift to .516-inch. Combined with round-port cast-iron headers, the new Ram Air IV was rated at 370 HP at 5,500 RPM with 445 lb-ft of torque at 3,900 RPM producing 10.75:1 compression and a specially calibrated Rochester Quadrajet 4-barrel carburetor. The RA IV could deliver incredible power when compared to other Pontiac 400 engines.
RK Motors tells us this GTO Judge is one of only 549 Judges produced with the RA IV 400 and a 4-speed. Even fewer came with the 4.33 rear gears. Read the ad page to learn about the history on this one. You will find it for sale this week in the Pontiac Muscle Car Section of the Cars-On-Line website.

Torino Indy Pace Car
We see a lot of Indy Pace Car dealer editions (sometimes called replicas) for sale on the collector car market. But it is very rare to find a Pace Car that was actually used at the Indy 500 race itself. Here is a 1968 Ford Torino Indy Pace Car Convertible being offered for sale by a Canadian collector. He says it is one of the two cars used at the track for the 1968 Indianapolis 500. It was not the car you saw actually pacing the race, but it was the backup car that day. Later in life it made its bones at the drag strip. Having been restored, the seller says it is now a super nice and Super Rare Cobra Jet convertible, one you won’t find anywhere else. He says it ran high 11’s back in the day with lots of trophies to verify its status. It comes with its Marti Report. Ford collectors would be hard pressed to find another Torino as important as this one.
Packard Twelve Convertible
The Packard Twelves are legendary. These are Great Gatsby era cars that only the wealthy class knew. This week, the Classic Auto Mall listed a 1938 Packard Twelve 1607 Convertible Coupe for sale. They believe it is one of only eight known to exist. (After all, only 32 were ever built in ’38.) Their client owned the car for 40 years, and much restorative maintenance was done, including new paint in the last eight years. The tan top is excellent (never seen rain.) The wiring harness is said to have been replaced 18 years ago. They say it shows just 49,262 miles (not documented.) It has the V12 engine and a 3-speed manual transmission. This is a rare opportunity to own one of America’s premier automobiles.
Radical Custom Show Car
If you regularly go to ISCA World of Wheels events around the U.S. you may remember this radical custom 1941 Chevrolet Sedan. The private party owner from Milwaukee, Wisconsin now has it for sale. He says the car shows thousands of hours of body mods. And it is as nice underneath as it is on top (see photos on the ad page.) It is powered by a built 406 SBC, built turbo 350, 3.08 Corvette rear, 4-wheel disc brakes and 4-wheel coil-over suspension. The body features a 3″ wedge chop and 4″ channel with plenty of interior room still. Doors are suicide, hood opens to the front and trunk opens sideways, hood has been pancaked 3″. The seller says he drives this car a lot. He says it runs as cool as it looks.
Auctions
We are only a week away from the Fall Carlisle Car Show and Swap Meet at the Carlisle, Pennsylvania Fairgrounds, October 2-6, 2024. It is one of the oldest and most respected car shows in the country. During this great show the Carlisle Events people put on the Fall Carlisle Auction, October 3-4, at the Carlisle Expo Center across the street from the Fairgrounds. This premier event always draws interesting classic cars, muscle cars and collector trucks from all over the Eastern seaboard. We would like to remind our readers that Carlisle is still offering its FREE UNLESS SOLD GUARANTEE for sellers who want to consign their vehicle for the upcoming auction. Click here to read more.
New cars are showing up in their auction inventory each day. Here are just a few that have come in this week.
Crown Victoria
It is rare enough to find a classic 1950’s Ford Crown Victoria in this market. Let alone, that you should find a rare Crown Victoria with Raven Black paint. So here is a 1955 Ford Crown Victoria to be sold at the Fall Carlisle Auction next week. And this is the first one we have seen in Raven Black finish with a white interior. It is equipped with a built 312 ci V8 and a 3-speed manual with overdrive. It comes with factory power steering and Vintage Air. The heater has been converted to 12-volt. They tell us this is a California rust free example which was restored in 2007. In 1955 Ford experimented with the first sunroofs made of a plexiglass material. They tell us this is one of only 1,999 built in ’55. According to the ad copy, it has the Code 64B glass roof.
1968 Dodge Charger R/T
Mopars are extremely hot in this market right now, and here is one that you won’t want to pass up. A 1968 Dodge Charger R/T was just consigned to the Fall Carlisle Auction. They say the body is incredibly solid, no rust and the paint is “very nice.” We expect that it is a driver quality car with the original engine, power steering, power disc brakes and an 833 21-spline rear axle. This 4-speed car comes with a Dana rear end and the famous Tic/Toc tach. In addition, it has QA1 controls arms, QA1 strut bars and QA1 shocks all around. They tell us it runs and drives excellent. Put a mighty Mopar in your stable when you bid on this desirable muscle car.
Tribute Race Car
Where else will you find a pro street Shelby tribute like this one but at the Carlisle Auction? This 1965 Mustang GT350 Tribute Pro Street was just consigned to the Fall Carlisle Auction next week. Not only is it a Shelby clone, but this is said to be a European production Mustang T5 Fastback originally built for the German market. It will be Lot # 537 at this year’s Fall Carlisle Auction, October 3-4, 2024. It was drag raced in the NHRA, and comes with the full interior roll cage and ratchet shifter transmission. The valve covers say Eatmon Racing Engines, and it has a Weiand intake. One thing of note also; this race car is in immaculate condition according to the ad photos. It is not all beat up like most drag cars. You could be proud to show this one. Are you ready for some action?
Click here to register to bid during the upcoming Fall Carlisle Auction. They also have some great deals if you are looking to consign to sell.

1929 Peerless Six
Here is a rare opportunity to own a 1929 Peerless Six Model 61 Sedan which is being offered for sale at Gullwing Motor Cars in New York. They tell us it is an older restoration which still looks good in the photos. Unfortunately it was left in storage and not driven for too long. It is not currently running, but they say the motor turns freely. It is so clean and looks so good that it should be an easy one to bring back to life. What a find! It is timelessly elegant, and worth the effort.

Deals of the Day
2017 Dodge Challenger T/A
No way! A 2017 Dodge Challenger T/A special retro edition Mopar sports car has been listed for sale for a knock your socks off low price. Kassabian’s USA Hot Cars out of California has just listed this T/A version Challenger for sale. Production figures for the T/A show that only 383 were built in this Green Go color. Only 2,849 were built altogether in 2017. It has a 5.7 Liter Hemi V-8 Engine, Rated at 375 Horsepower. And this one has a rare 6-Speed manual transmission. The T/A package has Grabbeer hood with air bezel and T/A bodyside graphics. They say it is fully loaded with all options. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. Their asking price is only $26,995. Hurry before they find out it is worth much more.
1941 Hudson Six
We thought this was a typo when we first saw this price. When the Classic Auto Mall in Pennsylvania first listed this 1941 Hudson Six Traveller Sedan for sale the ad said they were only asking $18,000. So we had to check it out because we thought the price was in error. The car looks so good in the photos we wondered how this could be. Well, it turns out that there are some small problems with the mechanics of the car. The brakes will need to be gone through and adjusted. When you put it into reverse you have to hold the shifter in place or it will pop out of gear. The heater, clock and wipers are not working. However they do say that the car tracks straight and runs well. This one would be a diamond in the rough for someone who wants to do some tinkering. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday
1957 Pontiac Star Chief
Here is another great find being offered for sale at Cody’s Classic Cars in Stanley, Wisconsin. They have this 1957 Pontiac Star Chief Custom Catalina for sale at a great price. It is a 4-door hardtop with low miles that they believe are actual. It also comes with a rare leather interior (which needs work.) It has power steering and brakes, plus the 347 ci V8 that was standard on the Star Chief back then. It has the Strato-Flight Hydra-matic transmission. The car was produced in California and came with a factory undercoating. It now has new shocks front and rear. You will want to watch this video walk-around inspection and hear it run. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. Their asking price is $26,900
1938 LaSalle Series 50
The real sleeper deal this week is a 1938 LaSalle Series 50, a pre-war car built by Cadillac. You won’t believe how nice this car looks in the photos. It is also being offered by Cody’s Classic Cars in Wisconsin. They say it is a nice running and nice driving classic car. It has a 322 ci V8 with a 3-speed manual transmission. According to the ad copy there was a partial restoration started many years ago. It has an original unrestored interior (see photos.) They say the materials to finish the interior will go with the car. But the sheet metal and paint look good in the photos. It has wide white oval tires. With a fresh tune-up it has new hoses and new belts, and the radiator is reburbished with a new water pump. Click here for the video inspection. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday. They are asking $18,900.
1975 Jensen Healey Roadster
A rare 1975 Jensen Healey JH5 Roadster has been listed for sale at an incredible low price. Beverly Hills Car Club has posted the car for sale at a blowout price. They say it is an original blue-plate California car which they state is mechanically sound. Of course, you should have it inspected before buying, but hurry. This red roadster comes equipped with a black convertible top. The interior has classic Smiths dash gauges, adding a touch of vintage charm. They say the amenities include dual-side mirrors, forward-folding front seats, a center console, a passenger-side sun visor, and a lighter with an ashtray located in the center console. Equipped with a manual transmission, front-wheel disc brakes, Stromberg dual carburetor and distinctive JH5 badging that sets this one apart, it has fender mounted antenna and dual exhaust. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Wednesday. They are only asking $7,950.
1966 Corvair Convertible
A Silver Blue 1966 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Convertible is offered for sale by Classic & Collectible Cars of Las Vegas. It has the Turbo-Air 164 ci air cooled Flat six cylinder engine with dual carbs. They say it runs and drives beautifully, has good older paintwork, spinner wire wheel covers and a power stop. The transmission is the 2-speed Powerglide. The black vinyl interior can be seen in the ad photos. It looks as though it might come with a parade boot as well. The car is very clean. Have it inspected to get a better idea of what condition class it might be in. The photos seem to conclude that it could be in driver quality condition. But hurry! It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. The asking price is only $16,500.
1950 Plymouth Cranbrook
Too nice a car to be considered just a project, this 1950 Plymouth Cranbrook 4-Door Sedan is an interesting car at an interesting price point. It has a black exterior with a red interior and is powered by an inline 6 cylinder engine mated to a 3-speed manual transmission. It is being offered for sale at the famous Country Classic Cars in Staunton, Illinois. (If you haven’t visited their complex it is an interesting array of cars in various conditions.) They tell us this popular Plymouth runs and drives very well. And the exterior and interior are in very good condition “for its age.” You can see for yourself in the photos. They do point out that the driver’s side floor will need to be patched or replaced. Have it inspected before you buy. But the price is right. They are asking $9,900.
Often there are more cars that deserve to be in the DEAL of the DAY than we can schedule for our front page feature. Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for the DEAL of the DAY this week. Remember, you saw them here first:
