Tasca Shelby GT500

Last Ones Shelby Built

With Carroll Shelby spending so much time on the GT-40 racing program for Ford Motor Company, he had to give up Shelby Mustang production to Ford to keep the program going. So 1967 was the last year that Shelby Mustangs were actually produced at his Shelby American plant.

Forged out of the close friendship between Bob Tasca, Sr (Tasca Ford was the country’s second largest Ford dealership in the 1960’s.) and Carroll Shelby, quite a few Shelby Mustangs were sold on the East Coast. Tasca Ford was able to sell legendary muscle cars right out of the showroom. His Tasca Ford Racing team was famous. He is credited with coining the phrase “Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday” as the anthem for dealer race programs across the country. They were legends in the NHRA drag racing circuit.

This 1967 Shelby GT500 finished in rare Brittany Blue was one of the Tasca Ford Shelby Mustangs. Since this was the last year that Carroll Shelby was closely involved in the design and build, these 1967 Shelby Mustangs have a significant place in history. This car is being offered for sale through No Reserve Classics in Green Brook, New Jersey. They describe it as a raw and powerful beast. Under the hood is the 428 ci Police Interceptor engine which is mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox. They say you cannot duplicate this exhilarating driving experience.

The exterior, finished in the striking Brittney Blue with White Stripes, is described as a showstopper, complete with iconic Shelby features like the inboard headlights, factory chrome bumpers, factory fiberglass hood, factory fiberglass trunk, factory Shelby taillights and 10-spoke Shelby wheels. Inside, the Black Decor Interior combines vintage style with comfort, featuring bucket seats, a wood grain steering wheel, and a full gauge package.

This 1967 Shelby Mustang is not just a classic muscle car for sale … it is an investment. They say it is a piece of American history that promises a “thrillilng” ride every time. It doesn’t get any better than this. (No Reserve Classics disclaims that since this car has been restored the items may not be original to the car. It can be updated as a restomod or pro touring style at their shop.)

Classic Car News This Week

Kennedy Lincoln

Even as you read this, the Auburn Auction is happening now in Auburn, Indiana. Worldwide Auctioneers is conducting their annual Auburn Auction, August 29-31, in their Labor Day tradition, during the annual Auburn Cord Duesdenberg Festival in Auburn Indiana. This 1962 Lincoln Continental Convertible was used by John F. Kennedy to celebrate the “Niagara Frontier” parade in 1962.  Documentation includes photographs of President Kennedy sitting in this car and a plaque mounted in the car to commemorate the occasion. The car underwent a restoration to the interior, wiring and electricals. The paint was feshened in 2024. It is one of the significant cars that will make history again here in Auburn this weekend as it will sell at No Reserve here at the Auburn Auction on Saturday. The Auburn Auction is live streaming on YouTube this weekend. Click here to view the Saturday auction.

Big Block Pace Car

Quite a few ’69 Camaro Indy Pace Cars have been restored over the years. But most of them are small block 350 ci V8 versions. Very few dealer version 1969 Camaro RS/SS Indy Pace Car Convertible examples are available with the big block 396 L78 engine. That’s why we got pretty excited when North Shore Classics out of Mundelein, Illinois listed this restored Camaro Z11 Indy Pace Car for sale this week. They say it has the correct L78 375 hp 396 ci V8 as well as a numbers matching 4-speed Muncie manual transmission. It is just as the actual Pace Car was equipped for the ’69 Indianapolis 500 race. They say the body and paint are flawless. No expense was spared in restoring this Z11 Pace Car edition. It won 1st Place Gold at the Chicago World of Wheels in 2024. This is a rare find.

Lancia Later

Gullwing Motor Cars out of Astoria, New York is known for collecting and selling classic imported sports cars. But this week they out did themselves. They just posted a 1963 Lancia Flaminia Sport Zagato in their fresh listings. They say it is numbers matching and in “wonderful condition.” They say the body is “gorgeous.” Purchased new in Milano, Italy, the car still has its 1963 ACI (Automobile Club d’Italia) sticker affixed to the rear of the inside rear-view mirror. Only 599 Flaminias were built by the house of Zagato. Automobilia afficionados throughout the world get pretty excited at the site of this rare Zagato sport coupe. Our readers can view more photos at the link.

1967 Pontiac GTO

We noticed that Hanksters Hot Rods out of South Daytona Beach, Florida listed several Pontiac GTO’s for sale this week. It is seldom that we see this many GTO’s listed in one week, let alone one dealer. They did a cool video on this 1967 Pontiac GTO which we thought we would show you here. They say it has been certified by their mechanics. It comes with a Pontiac 400 ci V8 and a GM TH400 automatic transmission matching a GM 10-bolt rear end. It also comes with PHS documents. Watch as they go over the car in detail at the video window above. Find more GTO’s in the Pontiac Muscle Car listings below.

Cadillac Coupe

A highly original 1969 Cadillac Coupe DeVille was listed for sale by The Last Detail in North Chicago this week. The history of the Cadillac DeVille is well chronicled on the ad page. You will also see a long list of options and standard equipment listed there. It is ready to collect, show and enjoy.

Project Vehicles for Restoration

1938 Ford Pickup

A 1938 Ford Pickup street rod project was listed for sale this week from a Wisconsin collector. It has the old school hot rod look with a 460 Ford big block engine, C6 automatic transmission, Ford 9” rear with 373 gears narrowed 7 ½”, Chopped 3”, chaneled 7”, leaf springs and air assist. But it needs the interior finished. He even has the material for the interior. Glass is not installed. This might be an easy retore for the right person.

The following are just some of the cars available in the Project Car Section this week:

1972 Chevrolet Suburban, Classic Car Liquidators, TX

Price Reduced

2006 Mustang GT Convt

A young California Gen-Xer took on this 2006 Mustang GT Premium Convertible as an average condition “driver Mustang” and turned it into a sharp triple black street cruiser ready to show and go. It has a cool blacked out look, rare manual transmission 5-speed, catback style exhaust, upgraded JVCk apple play/android screen with backup camera and forward camera, plus the Shaker 1000 system. With so many upgrades he was asking $14,500 for the Mustang. But just this week he dropped the price to $10,900. Now that’s a buy!

Deals of the Day

Hyundai Custom

This is an interesting vehicle to feature here among the bargain priced cars. It is a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe which has been extensively customized and displayed at the SEMA Show in 2006. It was designed and built by Troy Lee Designs using a Transformers movie theme. It is being offered for sale through Drive The Coast, a Florida classic car dealership. You will notice the Lambo doors, 22-inch Claus Ettensberger wheels, Katskin Custom leather interior with carbon fiber style leather seats. And there are a number of performance parts used in the build. This SUV has 80k miles, but still turns heads wherever you go. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. Their asking price is only $19,995. Wow!

1959 Plymouth Fury

A collector listed this 1959 Plymouth Fury for his friend in Connecticut. He says it is an original classic 4-Door Fury with just one repaint. It has 64,639 original miles recorded so far. The seller says it has a solid, straight body with beautiful chrome and stainless. You won’t find a speck of rust, he says. The trunk loots pretty clean in the photo. And, best of all, “it runs and drives as it should with no issues.” Just look at that interior. Call for more information.  It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. Their asking price is only $16,500.

1960 Lincoln Continental

They say this 1960 Lincoln Continental Mark V is a dependable collector car to own. They have it for sale at Cody’s Classic Cars in Stanley, Wisconsin this week. For the past year they have been driving it for fun. They say they visited three different states with over 3,000 miles driven. They believe it has had only one repaint in Sapphire Poly, and has an origiinal unrestored leather interior. Engine and transmission were rebuilt prior to their ownership. This model has the power vent windows and rear Breezeway window. There is a whole litany of new parts they put on. Click here for a walk-around tour of the car. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday, Labor Day next week. Their asking price is only $23,900.

1923 Ford T-Bucket

A 1923 Ford T-Bucket with an old school “altered” race car look has been listed for sale. Classic Car Liquidators in Sherman, Texas has posted it at a very deep discount to the average value. The altered look and turtle-back design give it a very interesting stance. The big deal however is the under carriage. This must be a fresh build or a very well cared for hot rod. It looks real clean underneath. And the custom leather interior is more than you see on most T-Buckets. Click here to view the video walk-around and hear it run. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday next week. Their asking price is $16,999.

1987 Pontiac Fiero GT

Of all the years that Pontiac made the Fiero, 1987 was one of the good versions, according to the Classic Auto Mall, who seems to have researched this. Upgrades to the suspension, upgrades to the engine (V6) 2.8L) and a Muncie/Getrag 5-speed transmission were all improvements. So this 1987 Pontiac Fiero GT would seem to be a bargain when you consider they say it only has 14,154 actual miles. Garage kept, they say everything works perfectly on this little sports car. They tested it on their track and found it ran “like a champ” and handles as on rails. They did note a few annoying things, such as the tach didn’t work. Fuel and oil gauges were not functioning either. But this car will be our DEAL of the DAY on Wednesday. The asking price is only $16,900

2004 Chrysler Crossfire

We’ve always been impressed with the sports car that Mercedes designed for Chrysler.  But we never thought you would be able to buy them so inexpensively. So here is a 2004 Chrysler Crossfire coupe for sale just listed by Fast Lane Classic Cars in Missouri. It has the 3.2L 18-valve V6 with a 6-speed manual transmission. That paint is called Alabaster with clearcote. The leather bucket seat interior is looking good in the photos. Very sharp. The seats on this one are heated. It comes with Traction Control, power rear spoiler and has 19’ wheels in the rear with 18” in the front. They say it has only 61k original miles. Watch a detailed walk-around video. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week. Their asking price is $10,995.

1963 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88

Oldsmobile had a normal year in 1963, although the very next year there were plant strikes and the company was in danger of going out of business. This 1963 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 was considered a personal luxury car with a 394 big block engine. This one only has 59k miles. It is being offered for sale at Classic Car Liquidators in Texas. It has power steering, power brakes, American Racing Torque Thrust wheels and an aftermarket radio. Classic Car Liquidators regularly comes up with respectable collector cars at great prices. After looking through the photos we would consider it very clean, but in driver quality condition. Click here to review a walk-around video and hear it run. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. Their price is $22,999.

Often there are more cars that deserve to be in the DEAL of the DAY than we can schedule for our front page feature. Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for the DEAL of the DAY this week. Remember, you saw them here first:

1971 Mercedes-Benz 450SL$15,000Santa Rosa Beach, FL
