First Year Trans Am
A true “Dream Car,” this 1969 Pontiac Trans Am stands the test of time and looks great doing it. Pontiac collectors may remember it as a feature car in Pontiac Enthusiasts and High Performance Pontiac magazines. It was crowned as a concours quality restoration at the 2008 Trans Am Nationals. Wait till you hear the sound of the stock cam in the video.
The rare and desirable 1969 Pontiac Trans Am is currently being offered for sale from the collection at The Throttlestop in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. They note that it shows 78k miles and comes with its numbers matching 400 ci Ram Air III V8 engine and 4-speed Muncie M20 manual transmission. They say the quality of the rotisserie restoration is significant. The early Trans Am comes documented with PHS report and original Owner Protection Plan. It was restored by noted Pontiac expert Dan Jensen. Verifying the quality of the restoration, it took a First Place award at the 2008 Trans Am Nationals.
These original first-year Pontiac Trans Ams are so rare, they hardly ever come up for sale. Only 697 Trans Ams were produced in 1969. It only had three options noted on the original PMD order sheet: 1. Gauge package with tach and clock; 2. Muncie M20 4-speed transmission; 3. And a push button AM radio.
Click here to watch a video of the Trans Am on a turnstyle and hear it run. The Throttlestop says it remains in concours ready condition. With the heartbeat of a champion, this Trans Am has undergone vigorous dyno testing to prove it meets Ram Air III specifications for horsepower and performance. This is the one you’ve been dreaming about.

Hudson Inspection Report
When Cars-On-Line answered the call to inspect a 1947 Hudson Pickup in Florida, a New York buyer got the full scoop on this interesting classic pickup truck. It is a rare one. This is a hot rod truck, which the inspector noted by pointing out the dress-up under the hood, lowered stance and the Camaro subframe mods with power steering. There were also some electrical issues which would need attending to. He noted that the Vintage Air system worked well as you might expect from a classic driven in Florida. He also warned the buyer that the Flowmaster mufflers were a little loud for this use. That is a matter of personal taste. You can read the full report to discover the condition of the paint and finish, and the wood bed. Click here to read the Pre-Purchase Inspection Report on our sample reports page.
This buyer did the right thing having us do the Pre-Purchase Inspection before he bought the truck. Are you anticipating buying a collector car? We can help. Read some of our sample pre-purchase inspections at the Inspections Page today.
This Weeks Featured Stories
1969 COPO Camaro
The records show that there were less than 1,000 COPO Camaros ordered through the Central Office Production Order system at Chevrolet in 1969. This 1969 COPO Camaro 427 is one of them. With only 15,833 original miles on it you can bet it was purpose built for racing from the factory. It was campaigned as the “Rats Nest” back in the day. It is being offered for sale by MS Classic Cars in Massachusetts. They only deal with No. 2 or better condition cars, so you know this one is something special. The ownership history is known and it has undergone a meticulous rotisserie nut and bolt restoration that is well documented. They have the original VIN tag, cowl VIN stamp, firewall VIN stamp and trim tag. They also have an NCRS Shipping Data Report. Click here to view a detailed walk-around video.
Restomod AAR Cuda
Okay, this is one you don’t see often. Here is a real deal 1970 Plymouth AAR Cuda that has been restomodded. Amazing! Classic Car Liquidators out of Sherman, Texas listed it this week. Not only is it a real AAR Cuda, but it has been reimagined with a 6.2L Hellcat Redeye V8 engine and a Tremec T56 Magnum transmission. It has the decklid spoiler, strobe stripes, Pistol Grip shifter, hood pins, fibeglass hood and fog lamps just like an AAR Cuda should look. Clad in vibrant Vitamin C Orange paint, this restomod strands as a testament to a muscle car legend. The engine and transmission on this modernized muscle car deliver an experience you won’t get anywhere else. Click here to watch a walk-around video and hear it run.
Packard Super 8
You are going to want to watch the video on this one. Scott at Ellingson Motorcars is introducing you to a vintage 1937 Packard Super Eight Convertible Sedan that has been elegantly preserved. It is recognized as a Full Classic by both the AACA and CCCA and has won awards in the Packard Club’s events. The ‘37’s had the addition of “Safe-T-Flex” independent front suspension, which made for a smoother ride. Additionally, Packard introduced hydraulic drum brakes in the ’37 Fifteenth Series, which provided additional stopping power compared to mechanical braking systems used before. The 320 ci inline Eight is mated to a 3-speed manual transmission with a floor mounted shifter. Packard produced a total of only 5,793 Super Eight models in 1937. Auctions
The Raleigh Classic Car Auction will be coming up on May 31-June 1, 2024. Did you receive your full color magazine in the mail? There is an interesting lineup of collector cars ready to cross the auction floor in Youngsville, North Carolina. Pick out the ones you want to buy now so you can have them inspected prior to the event at the end of the month. The Raleigh Classic is one of those “hidden gems” of the collector car hobby. It is where some of the finest collections in the Southeastern U.S. bring their cars to “trim the herd.” Here is a quick preview of some of the cars we will be watching.
Galaxie Lightweight
When Saturday, June 1 rolls around at the Raleigh Classic Spring Auction one of the top offerings to watch will be this 1963 ½ Ford Galaxie 500 Lightweight 427 muscle car. Only 211 of these purpose built race cars were ever assembled at the Ford factory. They were meant for Ford dealer race teams to dominate at the track. This one was purchased new by a lucky retail new car buyer who wanted the finest muscle car he could get. There is a suspicion he may have been a street racer. The car was meticulously restored by its fourth owners and even now has just 16,000 original miles. The 427/425 hp muscle car has its T10 Borg Warner aluminum 4-speed. This car should draw out some serious money when it crosses the auction floor at the Raleigh Classic.
Hudson Pacemaker
One of the most interesting cars to cross the auction block at the Raleigh Classic Spring Auction is a 1951 Hudson Pacemaker Convertible. Hudson collectors will be on their game when this one comes up on Friday, May 31st in Youngsville, North Carolina. Having won numerous awards since its full restoration, this is the rare edition that came with the Hudson Hornet Twin-H 308 ci Flat 6 engine with the dual carburetors each with its own air cleaner. This engine dominated NASCAR back in the day and outran all the V8’s. Hudson used a unitary construction, pretty advanced for its day. The odometer says only 32,152 miles (see photo on ad page.) It will be interesting to see what Hudson collectors will bid on this rare classic.
Buick Super
Another incredible offering is this 1941 Buick Super Convertible. Finished in rich black paint with a camel-colored top and beautiful Bordeaux leather interior, it comes with its famous “Fireball 8” engine. It is mated to the manual 3-speed transmission. In excellent mechanical condition, they say it runs and drives “great.” The classic car has an under-dash heater, electric glove box clock and the original fender skirts. Most interesting, this car shows only 32,262 actual miles. Buick collectors will probably bid this one up as these ’41 GM cars are in high demand.

1978 Firebird Formula 400
Jake and Christopher from Fast Lane Classic Cars are at it again this week. How can they let these guys play around with these beautiful muscle cars? Today they have a sharp looking 1978 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400 (a poor man’s Trans Am.) Not only do they show you how straight this black Formula 400 is in the video, they actually take it out for a test drive. Sounds good, doesn’t it? Drives like a Trans Am, too. Click the window above to watch the shenanigans.

Collector Cars with Low Miles
’76 Cadillac Convertible
Remember when this 1976 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible was brand new and they said it would be the last Cadillac convertible to be produced by Cadillac? That made every one of these cars a collector item right from the gitgo. In fact, hundreds of buyers just stored them away waiting for the price to top $100,000. I remember selling a few for six figures myself. But the bottom fell out of that market within a few years. Well, here is one of those that was stored away and still only has 300 original miles on it. Click here to view a video with Jake and Christopher on this low mile Cadillac.
Here are more recent Low Miles additions:
1970 Lincoln Mark III from Culver, IN, 11,000 certified miles
You’ll find these and hundreds more in our Low Miles Section online now.

Beverly Hills Car Club specializes in old cars that have been lost and forgotten in storage over the years. They get them out and recirculate them in the collector car market. It is equipped with a 320 Straight Eight engine with Stromberg EE-23 carburetor and a 3-speed transmission. Notice the branded Packard hubcaps. This car cleans up nice as you can see in the photos. Although currently not running, you can see the opportunity here, can’t you? We call it an “easy project” to restore.

Price Reduced
1962 Pontiac Acadian
In truth, this 1962 Pontiac Acadian (Canadian for Chevy Nova) should be in our DEAL of the DAY feature this week. When it was first posted for sale last week the Canadian seller had it listed at $20,000. That in itself is a pretty fair value on this stellar looking Acadian (Nova). He says they did a full restoration on this car and it looks it. But just today he dropped the price to $18,000. Let the phones start ringing!
Here are more vehicles with price cuts this week:

Muscle Car Clones
Ford Galaxie Lightweight

The R Code has been built out to 527 cubic inches now and has the 4-speed manual transmission. Bathed in a rich Burgundy paint, its fiberglass hood, fenders, inner fenders and trunk lide are to lightweight spec. It was professionally built by Barry Rabotnick of Survival Motorsports.

Deals of the Day
1940 Ford Deluxe
Its one of the most popular designs of the 1940’s. Ford really crushed it with the teardrop headlights and the popular coupe body style. This 1940 Ford Deluxe Coupe is being offered for sale at Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles. They have it priced right to sell quickly so check it out and grab the phone. It is a street rod with very original look and feel. Note the V8 engine, automatic transmission and dual exhaust. On the interior you have a two-spoke steering wheel, with older mohair looking interior. The interior would have to be updated to make this one work. The dash is redone with VDO gauges. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. The asking price is only $29,950.
1950 Studebaker
A private party seller from Richmond, Indiana has a 1950 Studebaker Champion for sale this week. The classic Studebaker is a 4-door W5 Regal Deluxe with original numbers matching 6 cylinder engine and a 3-speed on the column with overdrive. The seller says the paint and chrome is “slick” and that it runs, drives and stops well. You will find the original spare tire and jack in the trunk. Having been a California car, the seller says it has “no rust.” It has spent time in California and Louisiana during its lifetime. Have it inspected to find out if that interior is original. It looks pretty clean. Under the hood looks good also. It will be our DEAL of the DAY come Sunday. The asking price is $15,000.
1951 Studebaker
Country Classic Cars can always be counted on to come up with some interesting classic cars each week. You see them featured here in the DEAL of the DAY often. This week this also have a classic Studebaker for sale. Here is their 1951 Studebaker Commander finished in all white over a black and grey interior. This classic custom rebuild uses a Chevy S10 frame and is powered by a Chevrolet V6 engine with an automatic transmission. (Check out the engine compartment photos on the ad page.) The classic cruiser presents well and has had some nice work done. Click here to watch a walk-around video. You will notice that there are a few small things to finish. But it will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. Their asking price is only $15,800.
1960 Ford Thunderbird
Pretty red paint can be deceiving. This 1960 Ford Thunderbird looks really sharp in the photos, with a black interior and riding on wide whitewall tires. But Country Classic Cars says the bodywork on this car is pretty amateur and they consider it to be a 20-footer. Might be a nice starter car, though. They say it drives well, but is more of a driving project. The T-Bird is powered by a 352 ci V8 engine with an automatic transmission. It has a new gas tank and brakes which were done just recently. Click here to watch a walk-around video and hear it run. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday next week. They are only asking $15,500.
1980 Corvette
We think this 1980 Corvette with T-Tops and bright red paint qualifies for our DEAL of the DAY feature. It is also being offered by Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles. Note the red exterior with red leather interior (rare combination.) The black tinted T-tops should be refinished because they are sun faded. This final Stingray body style is what a Corvette should look like for most of us Baby Boomers. It is nicely optioned with power windows, air conditioning and aftermarket radio with remote. Beverly Hills Car Club says it is mechanically sound. You may want to have a pre-purchase inspection to get more detailed information. But hurry! This one won’t last long at an asking price of $16,750.
2005 Ford Thunderbird
How long will it be before the retro Ford Thunderbirds start getting collectible? They made the reimagined Ford Thunderbirds from 2002 until 2005. This was the eleventh generation of T-Birds to be produced. It well might become one of the most popular collector Fords since the first gen T-Birds. Today you can buy them for affordable prices. For instance a private party seller from Winder, Georgia is offering this 2005 Ford Thunderbird for sale this week. He says it is a well kept car, always garaged, and comes with a car cover and roof rack. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. His asking price is $15,500.
1997 Jaguar XK8 Convt
The Jaguar name still conjours up images of an exotic sports car that sends chills up your spine. Lucky Jaguar fans will note that today you can buy these two-seater sports cars at a very affordable price. For instance, Beverly Hills Car Club has a 1997 Jaguar XK8 Convertible for sale this week. Compare the price to any other top quality luxury sport convertible in its class and you will think this one is a deep discount to its peers. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week. The asking price is only $14,750.
Often there are more cars that deserve to be in the DEAL of the DAY than we can schedule for our front page feature. Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for the DEAL of the DAY this week. Remember, you saw them here first:
