Rare 1950’s Pickup
Seldom seen and incredibly rare, we came across a 1956 GMC Suburban Carrier classic 1950’s pickup truck yesterday when it was listed by Legendary Motorcars, one of the top restoration facilities in North America. As the cousin to the famous Chevrolet Cameo Carrier, this GMC is one of only 300 made in 1956 with the Big Back Window and passenger car-like creature comforts. The condition of this classic pickup truck is a testimony to what Legendary calls “one of the rarest pickups of the 1950’s.”
The GMC Suburban was the only vehicle in GM’s stable to have the newly minted 316 ci V8 engine in 1956. The engine was developed at Pontiac but adopted by GMC for the special edition Suburban. This one has the optional 4-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission and power steering, also pretty rare for a pickup truck of that era. Of course, the feature that everyone will notice right away is the Deluxe Big Window Cab. Legendary tells us this one is nicely restored. The original colors are Ocean Green with an Ivory interior.
Like the Cameo Carrier, the Suburban featured unique fiberglass bedsides attached to the rear steel cargo box with a hidden spare tire compartment behind the bumper. What’s more, this classic pickup came with a radio and accessory fan. The truck was restored by its previous owner.
If you have never seen one of these GMC Suburbans before, don’t feel alone. They hardly ever come up for sale. This is possibly a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a truly rare classic truck.

1934 Cadillac Fleetwood V-12
This 1934 Cadillac Fleetwood Model 370-D V-12 7-Passenger Sedan is absolutely gorgeous, a pre-war CCCA Full Classic. The vintage classic is being offered this week at Ellingson Motorcars in Rogers, Minnesota. The 1934 Cadillac interior was also extremely plush and luxurious as one could expect on a top-of-the-line Cadillac in the early to mid ’30s. 1934 and 1935 art deco Model 370-D’s are very rare because only 1,098 were produced. In this era the Cadillacs were produced at the factory in Detroit, but the Cadillac V-12’s were furnished with custom bodies, sold only in small numbers to particular clients. The V-12’s were produced from 1930 through 1937. Ellingson knows their Cadillacs. They always have vintage Cadillacs and Packards in their inventory.
Porsche Carrera GT
One of the most important listings on our site this week is this 2005 Porsche Carrera GT which was just posted for sale by Motorcar Classics out of Farmingdale, New York. It is Silver Metallic with Dark Grey full leather interior. It has had only one owner from new, so it has only 1,715 miles on the odometer. The options on this exotic Porsche supercar include the XT bucket seats, air conditioning, Dark Grey matching luggage, Porsche Pro CD radio, and GT Silver Metallic top. This Carrera GT remains among the lowest mile examples known to exist. In the realm of supercars this one holds a lot of weight. It is the exact same car that was raced by Porsche teams except for modifications to the emissions system. The 5.7L V10 engine is rated at 603 horsepower.

1959 Corvette – No Reserve
Amazing offering! A 1959 Corvette will cross the auction floor at the GAA Classic Winter Auction, on Friday, February 23, 2024. This classic Corvette has only 20k actual miles and is one of the top offerings at the event. The Roman red Corvette has a 283 ci V8 and 4-speed manual transmission. It was owned by the same family for the past 35 years. It has a fresh high quality paint job. The best part is that this classic car will be offered at No Reserve on Friday. That’s right, it will be offered at No Reserve, meaning the top bidder gets to take this one home, no questions asked. What do you think it will sell for?
1967 Shelby GT500
A real deal 1967 Shelby GT500 will be among the top classic muscle cars to be offered here at the GAA Classic Winter Auction in Greensboro next weekend. Scheduled to cross the auction floor on Saturday, this Acapulco Blue Mustang Shelby comes with its 428 Cobra Jet V8 with extra cooling package and a 4-speed manual transmission. Find out what it means to own a real Shelby when you bid on this documented Shelby GT500. This one was concours level rotisserie restored and comes from the Rick Hendrick Heritage Center Collection.
2006 Ford GT Heritage
This will be the top car of the whole auction in Greensboro next weekend. On Saturday, look for this 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition to cross the auction stage. The GT plays dual roles as a modern day exotic supercar and a throwback tribute to its heritage as the car that beat Ferrari at the 24 Hours of LeMans in 1968 and 1969. Only 343 of these Heritage Edition cars were produced. Among the rarest and most valuable cars ever produced by Ford, this highly collectible supercar has just 5.9 actual miles on the odometer, the lowest mile example to exist. It comes with its delivery paperwork and all other accessories. This is the one to own.

Just listen to the lopey cam on this Cortez Silver 1970 Chevelle which has been restored and upgraded to a tuned condition. Click the video window above to check out the video production by RK Motors Charlotte. They say the 396 breathes with a fresh air hood and cowl induction. The 5-speed manual transmission seems to work smoothly with a Hurst Competition Plus shifter and puts power to the 12-bolt rear end.

1990 Corvette ZR1
The 1990 Corvette ZR1 was “king of the hill” back in the early 1990’s when it was first rolling out of Detroit. There was nothing quite like it and buyers were paying a premium just to get their hands on one. This collectible Corvette was just listed by Cruisin Classics in Columbus, Ohio. It is significant because it still has just 2,792 actual miles from new. Cruisin Classics tells us it looks breathtaking in its Dark Red metallic factory paint. They say it remains in driver quality condition with a few imperfections as you might expect of a car this age. Corvette collectors will want this one in their stable.

Project Vehicles for Restoration
1964 Thunderbird Roadster
A Rangoon Red 1964 Ford Thunderbird Roadster is available for sale to a collector who can finish the restoration. It was done in the 1990’s and recently was in storage for many years. It was discovered by Country Classic Cars in Staunton, Illinois. They say it comes with a clear Illinois title, original purchase documentation from Mooney Ford in Christman, Illinois, registration, former owners’ documentation, maintenance records and photos documenting the restoration. It even has a “never installed” white convertible top and the fiberglass roadster cover. You will find it in our Project Car Section this week.

1941 Willys Coupe
A 1941 Willy Coupe was listed a month back by a North Carolina collector who knows his award winning street rods (see photo with trophies.) The pro built Outlaw body and chassis are drenched in Cobalt Blue Pearl with ghost flames. The 454 Chevy engine is supercharged. The seller says there are only 4,900 miles on the build. He was originally asking $85,000 for this righteous ride, but just this week he dropped the price to $78,500 because he wants to sell it. Your gain.

As a tribute to the legendary early GT350 Shelby Mustangs, the Classic Auto Mall is offering this 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback Shelby GT350 recreation that slants more to the race car spirit than a tame Jane street car. Strap in and enjoy the ride. You get the real feel of what a GT350 is all about. Classic Auto Mall tells us that it is coated in Ford’s base/clear Guardsman Bue with white Shelby stripes. Deals of the Day
1957 Dodge Coronet
A pre-curser to the muscle cars of the 1960’s, this 1957 Dodge Coronet was listed for sale by a private party seller in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He indicates that it has the 392 Hemi engine with a push button automatic transmission that was all the rage back in the day. He says the interior has been refreshed sometime in the past. He describes this early Mopar as being a “driver quality” ride because it has not had a recent restoration. He says the floors and trunk are solid, but the problem here is that the car had been instorage for a “long time.” You can find out the whole story when you call him to communicate. He says he needs to downsize his collection. This one must go. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. The asking price is $21,500. Remember: You should always have it inspected before you buy. Just saying.
1955 Oldsmobile 88 Holiday
I don’t know what’s going on in Illinois this week, but Country Classic Cars out of Staunton is “crushing it” with great deals in this week’s newsletter. They are dominating our DEAL of the DAY feature this week. For example, here is a 1955 Oldsmobile 88 Holiday which looks great with the two-tone ’50s style color combination. It also has a black/red interior. (See the photos on the ad page.) It is powered by the 324 V8 engine with a Hydromatic automatic transmission. Click here to check out the walk around video. The interior is really special. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. Their asking price is $24,500.
1941 Buick Super Eight
Here is another one from Country Classic Cars this week (like we said, “They’re crushing it.”) This black 1941 Buick Super Eight Sedan is powered by a straight 8 cylinder engine mated to a column shifted 3-speed manual transmission. The grey cloth interior is said to be in excellent condition (see photos.) Interior trim looks good in the photos. They say it runs and drives “great.” It has Buick branded hubcaps with whitewall tires that look good as well. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. Their price: $16,900.
1959 Edsel Ranger
“Driver quality” is probably a good definition of this 1959 Edsel Ranger 4-Door Sedan just posted by Country Classic Cars. They say it is a “nice cruiser” and talk about a recent restoration on this 4-door classic. The colors are interesting but not original to the car. The Indigo Blue paint combines with a white account the is carried through from the top to the fender skirts. They say the interior has been redone. This is a 6 cylinder car with a 3-speed manual transmission which runs and drives. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday. They are asking $17,650.
1972 AMC Jeep CJ5
In this era of resto mod customs, this 1972 AMC Jeep CJ5 might be considered a “reimagined” Wrangler. Restored to Renegade status, this CJ5 is said to have an original rust free tub from Utah. It has a first class high performance Chevy 350 V8 with a Muncie M20 4-speed conversion. Originally it was a 304 with a 3 speed. You may notice the new paint, new suspension, new BFG 31×10.5 tires. It is said to have all Bestop components: soft doors, bikini top, wind jammer, rear tub cover. Rear seat. The private seller from Hill Air Force Base says is it “very fun to drive.” It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Wednesday. The asking price is $13,500.
1972 Ford F100
Country Classic Cars in Staunton, Illinois has this 1972 Ford F100 Pickup finished in tangerine orange over a black interior. The classic truck is a regular cab 2WD with a short bed. It is powered by a 429 ci V8 engine, automatic transmission, power steering, Weiand intake with a Poly Performance carb, and Super Sucker Riser fuel pump. It is equippeed with a column mounted tachometer so you know someone wanted to go fast. Note the 15″ Cragar wheels with BF Goodrich radials. The side exit dual exhaust is worth checking out. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later in the week. Their asking price is $17,900.
1997 Corvette
Sincew 1997 was the first year for the C5 Corvette generation this 1997 Corvette Coupe is of special significance to collectors. The Silver Corvette is said to have just 25,000 original miles preserving its collector value. The private party seller from Iron River, Michigan says it has always been adult owned with the current owner now going to a nursing home. It is stored inside and comes with new tires and black leather interior. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week. The asking price is affordable at $19,500.
