Exotic Super Car
With a rich racing heritage, the Saleen S7 was the culmination of years of racing design and experience. While Saleen Automtive, Inc. (headed by Steve Saleen) was involved with producing a few Saleen S7-R examples for racing, they also sold a street version for a very lucky few who had the where-with-all to afford such an exotic super car.
Legendary Motorcar Company, the premier collector car restoration facility, has a rare 2007 Saleen S7 for sale in house this week. The first one we ever saw was at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale a few years ago. Naturally aspirated, it is one of only four produced. It comes with the Saleen Competition Package. Only 78 cars were produced, most of them being turbocharged. This one is powered by a mid-mounted 7.0-liter V8 designed by Saleen based on Ford’s Windsor small block and was factory rated at 550 horsepower and 525 lb-ft of torque. Components include an aluminum block, CNC-machined aluminum cylinder heads, a forged billet steel crankshaft, billet steel connecting rods, forged pistons, beryllium exhaust valve seats, stainless-steel valves, and titanium valve retainers. Induction is through a carbon-fiber plenum, a magnesium throttle body, and a magnesium intake manifold with individual runners.
With just over 9,400 actual miles, this represents an opportunity to own one of America’s most significant exotic super cars. After all, only four were produced with this naturally aspirated engine.

Christmas Gift Idea
The perfect stocking stuffer for the “car guy who has everything” would be a new book that has just come out about the Golden Rocket 1957 Plymouth Belvedere that was buried in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1957 as Tulsa’s version of a time capsule. Even before Stephen King’s Christine there was The Buried Plymouth (which is the name of the book.) The gold Belvedere is now famous among car collectors because they dug it up right on schedule to celebrate Tulsa’s Centennial in 2007. It was one of the most unusual celebrations in world history and was televised and written up in major magazines all over the country. Two of Cars-On-Line’s writer/photographers were present at the event so we have an affectionate place in our hearts for this story.
The book, The Buried Plymouth: A Story Unearthed in Tulsa, is well written and interesting (way beyond the norm for most automotive history books.) It took author Sanford Miles years to research. The multiple story lines include the poignant tale of a family that had the gold ’57 “stolen” from them in their minds. You get to know personally some of the many characters who come in contact with the famous ’57. And the kicker is when you find out at the end what was buried inside the ’57. For collectors, this story tops them all. Questions are answered, such as where is the car now. This is a really good read.
The author says you can order the book here: The Buried Plymouth
This Weeks Featured Stories
Mr. Norm Challenger
Any car that had Mr. Norm involved with it has historical significance. That’s because Norm Kraus has been a larger than life fixture in automotive racing for decades. But here is a 2009 Mr. Norm Dodge Challenger SRT8 that certainly befits his name. Taking three years to build, this amazing retro Challenger has a 426 stroker motor built to handle the 1,400 horsepower engine with Kenne Bell 3.6 LC Supercharger. It is set up to run on E85 fuel and they say it is built “bullet proof.” The private party owner has listed it for sale this week in our Mopar Section. With custom air brushing and glass etching, it is truly a one-off build. It was a First Place winner at the 2014 Carlisle Nationals. The seller says it behaves nicely on the street but turns into a Hellcat beater when let loose.
Ford B-400 Convertible
The 1932 Ford B-400 Convertible Sedan is the rarest of all ’32 Fords because they only made 845 of them. A Pittsburgh man found this one in Canada having come back to the U.S. from England with a stop in Argentina along the way. Most B-400’s were parade cars sold to dignitaries in Europe. This convertible sedan was restored as a street rod by a well known shop in Hanover, Pennsylvania called Bad Donkee Hot Rods. It took several years to build (see the restoration photos in the Slide Show.) It has been shown at national level car shows and was featured in the May 2021 issue of Modern Rodder magazine. It was also featured on the Classic Instruments 2022 calendar. Much of the car was fabricated with one-off parts. The car is currentlly being offered for sale. Here is a chance to have one of the rarest and finest quality resto rods in existence.

The Wheelsmith Artillery wheels are a treasure. It has a Buick V8 and Turbo 400 transmission. The dropped front gives it a street rod stance. When first listed the seller was asking $58,900.
