1990 Ferrari Testarossa
Ferrari sports cars from the 1960’s are almost untouchable as values continue to go up. But now we are also seeing later model Ferrari offerings increase rapidly in price. Although they produced over 10,000 of the famous Testarossa, these Ferraris are now almost three times the price they were only a few years ago. The wide-bodied Testarossa makes an impressive appearance with its vented side slats to help the rear mounted radiators cool the mid-engine monster 12-cylinder engine.
This week a 1990 Ferrari Testarossa was listed for sale by Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles. The Rosso Corsa Testarossa is said to be “practically brand new” with only 6,921 miles ever recorded on the odometer. The Pininfarina designed sports car is equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission and four-wheel disc brakes with four exhaust outlets, Veglia instruments, gated shifter, retractable headlights and Carello fog lights. The Momo steering wheel and 5-spoke alloy wheels are traditional. It came with a center console, air conditioning, and power windows and mirrors, extras that were required for the upscale cars of that era.
The Testarossa was a 5.0 liter 12-cylinder high performance exotic car with dramatic styling for its time. The notable side strakes (refered to as “cheese graters”) were an innovative design feature to hide the big intakes needed for cooling the engine. With a low nose, the aerodynamics were almost as impressive as the aesthetics on this car.
You would have paid $181,000 for this 12-cylinder Testarossa back in 1990. But, as happens with all used cars, the average value declined until by 2018 prices on the Testarossa dropped to $60,000. Then the market starting realizing those Testarossas were going to accelerate in value. Today they are almost three times that 2018 price. It is one of the fastest appreciating collector cars on the market.

Muscle Car Clones
1969 Cougar Eliminator
While there are hundreds of Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro reproduction cars on the market, you see relatively few of these. This is a 1969 Mercury Cougar which was built to be an Eliminator tribute. First off, you don’t see too many black Eliminators. This one has the scooped hood, rear deck spoiler, white vinyl top and Eliminator Stripe Package. Of course, it has the working hideaway headlights, sequential taillights and sport mirrors that all Cougars came with. And the price is very reasonable.
The following are more recently listed Muscle Car Clones:
1965 Mustang GT350, Streetside Classics Nashville, Shelby tribute
1965 Chevelle Malibu from W. Chicago, IL, SS Z-16 tribute
1970 Chevrolet Nova, Streetside Classics, TX, SS tribute
1969 Camaro Convertible, Super Sport Classics, FL, RS/SS trim & badging
1968 Chevelle, Super Sport Classics, FL, SS 396 badging

Deals of the Day
1993 Corvette 40th Anniversary
It seems like just yesterday that the 1993 Corvette 40th Anniversary Ruby Edition came out as a new car. But here it is 20 years later and the fact that you can buy them now at a discount price just tickles me. Are you kiddin’? This is a great car to collect. This Ruby Edition Corvette is being offered today at Classic Auto Showplace in Troy, Michigan. They say it has 75k miles, and is said to have had only two owners. The second owner says it is free of any modifications. He says the condition may be appropriate for local shows. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday because the asking price is $13,700.
1941 Cadillac Fleetwood
Cadillac collectors cherish the 1941 model year. The styling was unique for its time. Here we have a 1941 Cadillac Series 60 Fleetwood which is more of a project for restoration than a turnkey car. So says Beverly Hills Car Club as they are offering it for sale out of their Los Angeles venue. Having been in storage for a considerable time, it should be inspected before you buy it. But if you can do the work to get it running, this could be a money maker. It will be our Deal of the Day on Sunday. The asking price is $16,750.
1928 Ford Roadster
Take a look at this 1928 Ford Model A Roadster replica which was just posted for sale by Streetside Classics in Charlotte, North Carolina. (See photos at the link.) Look how authentically everything was done on this classic roadster. Replicas are to be judged by how accurate the build is to the original. Click here to review a walk-around video produced at Streetside. It has the rumble seat and comes with a 302 ci V8 Ford engine. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. Their price: $24,995.
1954 MG TD Roadster
The 1954 MG TD Roadster ought to be considered an American car rather than a British sports car since they are reported to have sold more here in the U.S. than in the Great Britain at the time. This little roadster is said to have been owned by a mechanic and was well maintained. It is being offered for sale at Midwest Car Exchange in Chicago. It has a 1250 cc I4 engine with twin SU carburetors and a 4-speed manual transmission. Click this link to view an interesting walk-around video. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday. Have this one inspected to find out how it runs. If it runs out nice, this is the “sleeper” deal of the week. Their asking price is only $15,900.
1970 Opel GT
Classic Auto Showplace in Troy, Michigan has another significant sports car for the collector. They just posted this little 1970 Opel GT for sale. If you remember, the Opel GT was called the “Baby Corvette” back in the day. They tell us it It has the optional 1.9 Liter engine and “with just 73,150 miles on the odometer, it’s a well-preserved example.” It comes with a rare red interior (see the photos.) Also rare is the automatic transmission since most of these came with a 4-speed manual. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Wednesday. The asking price is affordable at $12,700.

Hot Rod Chevy Pickup
Newsletter readers would feel let down if we didn’t have a hot new deal from Country Classic Cars out of Staunton, Illinois in the mix this week. Well here is one. It is a 1980 Chevy Hot Rod Pickup all custom and high performance in its stance and demeanor. This Chevy C10 Short Bed Fleetside pickup truck has a steel cowl hood with a small block Chevy V8 bored .30 over with flat top pistons. A 2600 stall converter boosts torque through a TH350 automatic transmission with a Stage 2 shift kit. The interior has been nicely redone and it has mag wheels. Click here to view a walk-around video and hear it run. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. Their asking price is $18,950.

1964 Ford Galaxie 500
A private party seller from Wisconsin just listed this 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 2-Door Post sedan for sale. He says he is the second owner. It still has only 79k original miles, according to the description. It has the 289 ci V8 with a C-4 Ford automatic transmission. The seller says the engine and transmission were both “freshened,” and that it has had complete recent brake service. This one is original, no mods. But the best part is the price. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week. The asking price is only $14,500.
Often there are more cars that deserve to be in the DEAL of the DAY than we can schedule for our front page feature. Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for the DEAL of the DAY this week. Remember, you saw them here first:
