COPO 427 Camaro
We think of classic Camaro 427’s as iconic cars to be cherished today. But back in the day, they were born to race and get beat up at the dragstrips. Finding one with low miles and all its original sheet metal would be amazing.
This week a private party seller from Ohio posted his 1969 COPO Camaro 427 for sale in our Camaro Section online. This is a COPO with a lot of history and provenance. That makes it highly collectible. The seller says it still has only 15,500 miles driven (most of them a quarter-mile at a time.) It has known ownership back to 1970 and extensive racing history. It was inspected and certified by Jerry MacNeish, the famous Camaro expert and historian. Most important, it still has 100 percent GM sheetmetal with everything original and dated to the car except for trunk lid and NOS fenders that were installed in 1977.
The engine is an L72 427/425 horsepower motor with 4-bolt main 512 block, 291 square port heads, 163 intake and August dated 4346 carbs. They say the internals were rebuilt with less than 100 miles on the redo. The transmission is an “unstamped over the counter M22 4-speed with all correct internals and GM gears. Freshly rebuilt.” The 4.10 rear end with correct BE code is dated correct to the car and is a COPO specific unit.
The subframe, suspension, steering box, axle snubbers, brake booster and more are all excellently preserved or professionally restored. Although there are a few replacement parts on the car, great pains were taken to make sure the best OEM reproductions were used.
In short, here is a very original COPO Camaro 427 offered for sale in its Super Stock D livery the way it was campaigned as the Rat’s Nest. They say it is Day 2 show worthy.

Classic Car Rentals
One of the questions we get asked all of the time is, “Are there any collector car rental agencies?” What a great idea, right? But there are only a few shops around the country that can make it work. One of them is Vegas Vintage Rentals in Las Vegas. Owner Mike Nicholls has been a long-time client of ours through his classic car dealership, Classic & Collectible Cars of Las Vegas. If you want to ride like a high roller while in Vegas Mike is the guy to see. He has recently started Vegas Vintage Rentals where you can rent this 1961 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible for 24 hours for $799. Click here to review Mike’s inventory and prices. He is well known in the Vegas car community and trusted.

Mercury Sun Valley
Always the innovators, Ford Motor Company came out with a couple of special edition, top-o-the-line, glass top cars in 1954 that are a big draw for Ford collectors today. This 1954 Mercury Monterey Sun Valley 2-Door Hardtop is the cousin to Ford’s ’54 Sunliner. Mercury’s Sun Valley edition with the green tinted Plexi-glass roof was priced higher than Ford’s Skyliner. With 9,761 Sun Valley editions sold in 1954, the Mercury edition is more rare than Ford’s Plexiglass topped Skyliner. The 1954 Mercury Monterey Sun Valley 2-Door Hardtop you see here is being offered for sale by a private party collector in Nova Scotia, Canada. It has been lovingly restored from a mere shell in a farmers field out West. According to a recent appraisal, the bodywork and paint done during the restoration was excellent. What’s more, it is very reasonably priced.
’69 Camaro Pace Car
Streetside Classics in Charlotte just posted a 1969 Camaro RS/SS Indy Pace Car Convertible with the small block 350 motor. These ’69 Pace Cars are one of the most desirable Camaros to own for collectors. This one is shown here without the Pace Car decals, but it is very reasonably priced. It has the famous Orange Houndstooth interior. Streetside tells us that they believe this to be the original engine. Click here for a walk-around video of the car. It is a new arrival at the Charlotte showroom and it probably won’t last long. Call them for more information about the restoration. These Pace Cars are getting harder to find in this market.

Project Vehicles for Restoration
1951 Oldsmobile 98
This is amazing. A 1951 Oldsmobile 98 was just listed for sale by Country Classic Cars in Staunton, Illinois. They tell us this patina’d classic is a one-owner car that comes with its original title, service paperwork, new car guarantee bond, and owners journal. The car does run and drive and would make for an excellent candidate for a restoration. The 1951 model featured a redesigned body with a lower hood and fenders. It is powered by a 303 ci Rocket V8 engine that produced 135 horsepower as mated to a Hydra-Matic automatic transmission.

Deals of the Day
1976 Pontiac Trans Am
Here is a 1976 Pontiac Trans Am which would probably be considered a project car except that the private party seller believes it would be easy to get running or a very easy restoration. They say it has not been started in three years so it would take a skilled technician to get it back on the road safely. It has a ’77 TA front valance grafted to it so it has a real cool look. They say the interior is fantastic. You should have it inspected or see it for yourself. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. The asking price is only $19,999.
1963 Dodge Dart Wagon
Country Classic Cars in Staunton, Illinois has this very interesting 1963 Dodge Dart Wagon which was redone was a classic custom at some point. They say it was used as a daily driver for the past year. It has an interesting color scheme. The classic wagon is powered by an inline 6-cylinder engine mated to an automatic transmission. If you have plans for a radical custom build this might be your base car. Country Classic Cars says they believe it would be a great candidate for a full-on restoration. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. The asking price is $11,900.

1973 Mercedes 450SL
We are seeing a renewed interest in the early 450 SL Mercedes cars. This 1973 Mercedes-Benz 450 SL comes from Burrillville, Rhode Island and has a black convertible top and interior. It also comes with the auxiliary hardtop and hardtop stand. It still belongs to the original owner after all these years and he must sell due to health reasons. They say it has 173k miles, runs and drives tight and perfectly. He says it is well maintained and has a no hit body. It has been used for summer time driving only and is equipped with air conditioning. He says he will take $16,000 for the car now. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. Hurry!
1981 Corvette
The C3 Stingray body is the one that many Baby Boomers identify with. To us, that’s what a Corvette should look like. This 1981 Corvette Coupe is being offered for sale by Universal Muscle Cars in Linthicum, Maryland. They know their Chevies. They say this Polo White Corvette is “super nice” with low miles and comes from a noted Corvette collection. They note that it has an older but very nice repaint in its original color code 10. “It is in incredible condition just like it rolled off the showroom floor. Everything works as it should too. It is very-very nice! Power comes from its numbers matching 350 c.i.-195 h.p. V-8 …” It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday. The asking price is $18,900.
1979 Lincoln Cartier
Here is another one-owner car that has been well preserved. Representative of the American luxury car era, this 1979 Lincoln Mark V Cartier Edition has had one repaint and is turnkey ready to show. Designer Series Lincolns had special colors and appointments. The Cartier Edition was offered in Light Champagne with a distinctive matching Landau vinyl roof. Six-way power front seats are part of the Designer Editions, as is the interior light group. This Lincoln leaves little to be desired as it is fully appointed. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday. The asking price is $15,000. This is a whole lotta’ car for the money.
1968 MGB Roadster
American sports car enthusiasts were so smitten by the British two-seaters of the era that MG was able to find a whole new market in the United States. More MG TD’s were shipped to the U.S. than were sold in Europe. As this 1968 MGB Roadster came to America the MGB was becoming the most successfull sports car of all time. Equipped with a manual transmission, inline-four engine, SU dual carburetors, it is now being offered for sale by Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. Their asking price is $10,750.

1966 AMC Rambler American
The plucky little Rambler American was an inexpensive passenger car made by American Motors at the old Nash plant in Kenosha, Wisconsin. If you find one today with straight sheet metal and good panel gaps, it is unusual. So take a close look at this 1966 AMC Rambler American which was just posted for sale by Streetside Classics in Phoenix, Arizona. It has a straight 6 cylinder motor with a three-speed on the column. Looks pretty straight in the photos. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week. The asking price is only $10,995.
Often there are more cars that deserve to be in the DEAL of the DAY than we can schedule for our front page feature. Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for the DEAL of the DAY this week. Remember, you saw them here first:
