Resto Mod Nova
We can’t be in denial over it any longer. It looks like the pro touring and resto mod muscle cars are taking over the collector car market. It might be a sign of spring, or a cultural change, who knows? But this week we have noticed the largest number of pro touring and resto mod custom cars listed for sale that we have ever seen. You will see them in the New Listings below.
Maybe the best one of them all is this award winning 1967 Chevy Nova in House of Kolor Cinnamon Tangerine Pearl paint. With the look and stance of a resto mod and a show quality interior, it was posted for sale this week by East Coast Classic Cars out of Lillington, North Carolina. A few years back it was built by Hat Creek Customs in Salisbury, North Carolina. If it is all House of Color on top, it follows that it is mostly TCI equipped underneath for the pro touring build. You will note the TCI coil overs and 4-link. The handling is enhanced by control arms and sway bars, complemented by welded-in frame connectors. Oh, yeah. It was built to drive and enjoy.
The LS3 Nova has a party under the hood as well. (Check out the photos on the East Coast Classic Cars’ ad page. ) You will see the Chevy LS3 crate motor nicely tucked between the fenders. It was specially tuned to produce 525 horsepower and only has 1,500 miles since the build. Power transfers through a 6-speed Tremec T56 transmission to a narrowed 8.8 Ford rear end with 31 splines and 3.73 gears.
You may remember when the Hat Creek car won the House of Kolor Prestigious Painters Award a few years ago. That earned the Nova a trip to SEMA to show off the paint at the House of Kolor display.

Classic Car News This Week
Prep For Spring Season
The spring car show season is upon us and in most parts of the country your cars are coming out of winter storage. Even if you have stored your car for a short few months during winter there is a checklist of things you should consider before you can start ‘er up and drive away for a road trip. Here is a great article on how to prep your car for the car show season after winter storage. It was written for the Life Lanes section of the Progressive Insurance Company’s website. They have several links in the article with detailed “How-to” tips on battery maintenance and which fluids need testing. They recommend looking for oil additives like ZDDP for flat-tappet camshafts for cars prior to 1980. Their source for the article is Ernie Morreau, shop foreman at RM Restorations in Blenheim, Ontario, Canada. You might say Canadians know a little more about winter storage than most do.
Raleigh Classic
With the car show season underway we wanted to let you know about one of our favorite collector car auctions which will happen at the beginning of June 2023. You will see a lot of the auction inventory for the Raleigh Classic Car Auction in the New Listings this week. The Raleigh Auction is one of those “hidden gems” of the collector car hobby. It is where some of the finest collections in the Southeastern U.S. bring their cars to “trim the herd.” This 1969 Mercury Cyclone CJ is a good example. Raleigh Classics just posted it in our Mercury Muscle Car Section yesterday to promote the auction. Now that is a rare one. The auction will be held on June 2-3, 2023. Car collectors, especially classic car dealers, will be there to build up their inventories. The Raleigh Auction has a reputation for offering low miles collector cars, many with provenance. Click here to review some of the early auction consignments.

Collector Alert! Gullwing Motor Cars in Astoria, New York just posted one of the most important cars of the modern era. Gullwing Motor Cars tells us it is one of the best investments a collector can make. This silver Gullwing with a plaid red interior is a life-long California car. The owner has had it for the past 50 years. It retains its matching numbers engine with Bosch mechanical fuel injection. It is most revered and remembered for its mechnical doors which open up imitating the motion of a seagull’s wings. High door sills allowed a lower stance and required a multi-tubular spaceframe chassis. This Gullwing Mercedes 300SL is available for sale for the first time in five decades.
Buick Roadmaster Convertible
A rare and desirable 1955 Buick Roadmaster Model 76C Convertible is being offered for sale at The Last Detail in North Chicago, Illinois. This fresh posting should be an alarm bell for the Buick collector community. These don’t surface as a public sale very often. The Last Detail tells us that this Condor Yellow Roadmaster won the BCA Senior Award in 2001. It comes with its 322 ci V8 engine and variable pitch Dynaflow automatic transmission, the first year it was offered. They say it is beautifully restored. Click here to review a walk-around video. It really looks sharp with the black soft top up (see the photos at the ad link) Classic Buicks like this don’t come along very often.

Milner’s ’32 Deuce Coupe
Get this! They tell me Gen Z’ers are getting into classic 1950’s culture. It’s a new thing, I guess. So maybe there’s a future for the cars of the Baby Boom, after all. There is definitely a growing interest in Hollywood movies dealing with 1950’s lifestyles. Hollywood’s hit movie American Graffiti for instance is re-emerging. So here is a very authentic replica of Milner’s 1932 Deuce Coupe, a popular part of that movie. It was just listed by Eric’s Muscle Cars in Maryland. Click the video window above to hear it run and see a walk-around inspection. Eric’s got it right. This video thing is the way to advertise a car for sale.

Deals of the Day
1964 Ford Falcon
I see a lotta’ Ford Falcons and not too many of them look this good in the photos. Take a look at this sparkling 1964 Ford Falcon Futura offered for sale by a private party collector in Arizona. It has the 260 V8, C-4 transmission. factory air, power steering, Cragar SS wheels, and they say the original build sheet is included. It was on display at the famous Harrah’s Auto Museum for six years. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday because the asking price is $20,000.
1948 Studebaker Convertible
Look through the photos on this 1948 Studebaker Champion Convertible which was just posted for sale by the Classic Auto Mall in Pennsylvania. They warn that it will need a little bit of TLC in order to get it back where you can be proud of it. But they also say it is a strong little runner. Recent work to bring it up to snuff mechanically has been performed including new motor mounts, professional carb rebuild, new muffler, and a new convertible top all within the past year. So it will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. The asking price is $16,000.
1960 Studebaker Hawk
This may be the “sleeper Deal of the Week.” A collector from Sun City, Arizona just posted his 1960 Studebaker Hawk for sale. Take a close look at these photos at the link. It had undergone an extensive restoration between 2019 and 2021. You don’t see too many that run, drive and look like this one. The seller says the suspension system, electrical and sound system were all rebuilt and upgraded. You should have a pre-purchase inspection done to verify that. But hurry. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on the front page of our website on Monday. His price is $27,500.
1950 MG-YT
A 1950 MG YT Roadster was just posted by Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles. The actual name was MG Y-Type but it is most often abbreviated to MG YT. It was an attempt by MG to make a four-seater sports car, and its aim was at the U.S. market. Only 877 were ever produced. Not only is the YT very rare, but it was very innovative for its day. It came with independent front suspension and coil springs and wishbones. Beverly Hills Car Club tells us this one is mechanically sound. Prospective buyers would be well served to have a pre-purchase inspection done to get a condition report. But hurry! It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday. The asking price is $16,750.
1971 Buick Skylark
Buick Skylarks don’t get the respect as muscle cars that their bretheren Gran Sports do in the collector car community. But they are great base cars for recreations. This 1971 Buick Skylark was listed for sale by Country Classic Cars in Staunton, Illinois. It has the GS emblems and Ram Air hood like a Gran Sport. In its own right it has a performance modified SBC 350 V8 engine with Jegs aluminum heads and Edelbrock intake manifold. And the price is really affordable. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Wednesday next week. The asking price is $23,950.
1971 Lincoln Mark III
Do you ever long for the days when we used to drive in big full sized cars that seemed to float down the road on a cloud? Here is a 1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III with the big front grille and comfortable leather interior. Connors Motorcar Co has it for sale in W. Chester, Pennsylvania. It has the smooth and powerful 460 cu in 365 horsepower V8 with an automatic transmission, and comes fully loaded. I think you’ll agree that this is a lotta’ car for the money. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. Their asking price is $19,500.
1988 Alfa Romeo Spider Graduate
After Dustin Hoffman drove Mrs. Robinson’s daughter around in his Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider as a prop in the 1967 hit movie The Graduate, Alfa decided to brand it for many years afterward. This 1988 Alfa Romeo Spider Graduate was designed by Pinninfarina. It is for resale this week at Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles. It comes with recent service receipts. They tell us it is mechanically sound. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week. The asking price is only $12,750.
Often there are more cars that deserve to be in the DEAL of the DAY than we can schedule for our front page feature. Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for the DEAL of the DAY this week. Remember, you saw them here first:
