Last of the Woody Wagons
Pontiac collectors know how rare it is to find a 1948 Pontiac Streamliner 8 Woody Wagon, one of a woody collectors most cherished finds. It was the last year that Pontiac built a full wood bodied wagon. Starting in 1949, Pontiac would build the “half wood” bodied station wagons, and later came the “tin woody” in the early 1950’s. But 1948 was the last year of the true traditional wood bodied station wagon for Pontiac.
So it’s a real treat, this week, to see this 1948 Pontiac Streamliner 8 Silver Streak Woody Station Wagon being offered for sale at the famous Classic Auto Mall in Pennsylvania. They tell us it has benefitted from an earlier restoration. The exterior shows a charming patina but the interior is all original, and the wood will lure you in. The 1940’s design with its flowing and sensuous lines accentuates the pontoon fender styling. The color is Parma Wine Metallic.
Read the ad copy for a report on the engine comparment and the wagon’s drivability. They say it checked all the boxes. It seems that it is a driver class car now with some patina showing in several places. Actually, for most woody collectors, that just adds to its character.
You have to be a baby boomer or older to have experienced the cultural lifestyle that the woody wagons represented. Today they are the icon of an era when the suburban lifestyle was first impacting the U.S. There is a touch of country in each woody wagon, getting out on the back roads for a picnic and roaming the rural highways. The woody wagons are a lifestyle as much as they are a mode of transportation. And woody collectors are a subset of the collector car hobby. You’ll have to own one to know.

March of the Muscle Cars
REV! Muscle Cars has come up with a new auction sale format to help their clients sell their collector cars. Many of you already know that REV! Muscle Cars is an innovative internet broker that helps car collectors sell their cars through live auctions. However, this month they launched their online auction which they dub March of the Muscle Cars. The auction uses a sealed bid approach with two rounds of bidding. One of the upcoming sealed bid auctions will be for a Sunfire Yellow 1967 Corvette L89 Convertible. It won the Best Restored trophy at the 2018 Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona. Bidders are screened and verified so that only serious collectors are in the hunt. Get on the list to bid on the upcoming auctions. You can pre-qualify to bid here. REV! Muscle Cars has several Mopars listed in the New Listings below.
Hudson Inspection Report
When Cars-On-Line answered the call to inspect a 1947 Hudson Pickup in Florida, a New York buyer got the full scoop on this interesting classic pickup truck. It is a rare one. This is a hot rod truck, which the inspector noted by pointing out the dress-up under the hood, lowered stance and the Camaro subframe mods with power steering. There were also some electrical issues which would need attending to. He noted that the Vintage Air system worked well as you might expect from a classic driven in Florida. He also warned the buyer that the Flowmaster mufflers were a little loud for this use. That is a matter of personal taste. You can read the full report to discover the condition of the paint and finish, and the wood bed. Click here to read the Pre-Purchase Inspection Report on our sample reports page.
This buyer did the right thing having us do the Pre-Purchase Inspection before he bought the truck. Are you anticipating buying a collector car? We can help. Read some of our sample pre-purchase inspections at the Inspections Page today.

1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda
What good is a muscle car if you can’t drive it? This 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda from Indiana is a pure stock original, but one that gets driven regularly. It is being offered for sale this week by REV! Muscle Cars, an internet broker. They say this R Code Hemi Cuda still has its original sheet metal. “Quarters and drops are factory including original locator tabs,” they tell us. “The floor pans, rockers, and trunk all rust free rock solid and appear to be original.” The 426 Hemi motor and intake manifold are correct for the era. It is a factory R Code Hemi car which comes with two broadcast sheets. Click here to watch a walk-around video. Custom Show Car
An Oklahoma collector always wanted a 1955 Chevrolet 2-Door Hardtop, so when the opportunity arose he found one that needed to be restored and took it to the award winning D&D Specialty Cars in Van Buren, Arkansas to restore. They built this show car 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air LS6 Custom classic, and it went on to win its share of national notoriety. Its multiple awards include Super Chevy “Best 55”, Goodguys “Best Street Rod,” and Goodguys “Meguiars Magnificent Pick.” It was even featured in Street Rodder magazine. When it was acquired by a collector in San Jose he had it on display in his collection. In March of last year it was acquired by MS Classic Cars in Seekonk, Massachusetts. At this point the car has had only 338 miles recorded since the restoration. This is the first time it has ever been offered for sale to the public. Take a look at the photos on the ad page to see exceptional bodywork and laser straight sheel metal. MS Classic Cars has now detailed the car and it looks perfect. With a killer stance and Boyd Coddington’s “Junkyard Dog” polished wheels, this could be the car of your dreams.
Real Shelby Mustang
A private party seller from Dubuque, Iowa just posted his 1969 Shelby GT350 for sale. This was the last Mustang design from Shelby and produced by Ford until the retro Mustangs came out in 2005. He says everything is right on the car, it needs nothing. Having undergone a full rotisserie restoration, it is turnkey ready for a new owner to enjoy. The Marti Report says it has power steering and power brakes. The Candy Apple Red paint looks beautiful in the photos. You have to see the photo of the engine compartment. 1940 Buick Special
There is a great price on this 1940 Buick Special Model 46 Business Coupe. It is being offered for sale by Classic Car Deals, an internet broker working for their seller in Texas. Although the condition is that of a daily driver, it remains very original, says Classic Car Deals. It has a step starter and “three-on-a-tree” manual 3-speed transmission. They says it runs and drives well, and that the engine runs quiet and smooth. It is not apparent from looking at the car but it has had custom fabricated bolt-on mounts and air shocks to create a more comfortable ride. It has a rebuilt carburetor and a recent servicing.
