An Icon of an Era

1969 Camaro Z/28 RS

Once in a while Detroit really gets it right. In 1969, when Chevrolet designed the Camaro, that body style, with just the right curvaceous styling and trim, is one for the ages. And as good as the base Camaro design was for ’69, the Z/28 styling with the Rally Sport front valance was the cat’s whiskers. It was an iconic look that has been as alluring to car collectors over the years as a great painting is to an art collector.

This week RK Motors Charlotte has just posted a 1969 Camaro Z/28 RS which originally came from the factory in this Olympic Gold finish. You have to admit it is stunning. We see Rally Sport Z/28’s come through our listings often, but this one is said to be fully documented and has benefitted from a professional body-off restoration. RK Motors Charlotte has the ability to get some of the most beautiful photography in their photo studio, so the pics are amazing. (click here to view.) The restorers were careful to follow the factory build specs, using NOS components as often as possible.

RK Motors Charlotte tells us that the work included using a date-correct Holley carburetor, correct Winters intake and Double Hump heads. It has the correct Muncie 4-speed manual transmission with an original Hurst shifter, and the correct 12-bolt rear axle with correct 4.10 gears. The Olympic Gold paint with Tuxedo Black Rally stripes and a black vinyl roof are the way this Z came from the factory. Notably, it is being offered with the original Protect-O-Plate and a full set of the original dealership paperwork. (Call for a complete list.) RK Motors even tells us it has the maintenance and restoration receipts, plus a portfolio of restoration photos.

They did a great video presentation with this ’69 Z/28. Follow this link to view it on YouTube.

1960 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible

There is a rarely seen 1960 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible in our New Listings this week that will melt your heart. One of the prettiest cars you’re ever gonna’ see. It was listed by Unique Classic Cars in Mankato, Minnesota. Originally from Georgia, this car was repainted to white at some point in its journey. It looks great. Under the hood is a 389 ci V8 motor matched with an automatic transmission. The chrome and brightwork look great overall but can be seen flaking on the front bumper. It is nicely equipped with power steering, power brakes, power windows, air conditioning and a power convertible top. You’ve gotta’ love those PMD wheels and beauty rings. Be sure to view the interesting walk-around video which is narrated by Unique Classic Cars.

Auctions

We are looking ahead to next month when the big Spring Carlisle Car Show and Swap Meet will be held in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, April 19-23, 2023. During the week long collector car meet, the annual Spring Carlisle Auction, April 20-21, 2023, will be held at the auction building next to the Carlisle Fairgrounds. This is a big event in the collector car market. Here is a preview of what we are looking to buy in Carlisle this year.

1930 Packard 726

We can’t wait to see what this 1930 Packard Model 726 Standard 8 will go for when it crosses the auction stage at the Spring Carlisle Auction, April 20-21, 2023. It is one of the rare vintage classic cars that will be sold here in Carlisle. This was the era when Packard was a name that stood for quality, reliability and elegant styling. This car went through an extensive restoration in 1975-1976. They say it still shines brightly today. Packard styling is ageless so it still turns heads. Find detailed photos at the link above.

1956 Cadillac Eldorado Seville

1956 is when two great Cadillac models met. This 1956 Cadillac Eldorado Seville was born out of the promise of special styling for the already popular Eldorado. It road atop the Eldorado convertible’s X-frame which supported the pillarless hardtop. This pink Cadillac came with a black Vicodec roof and was a ground breaking model for Cadillac. This special luxury car will be offered for sale at the Spring Carlisle Auction in April. Mountain Laurel Pink was the original color on this first year Seville. They say it runs and drives as good as it looks, and is in “outstanding condition in every respect.”

Jacked 1993 Ford F-250

Lots of dealers come to the Spring Carlisle Auction to find pre-owned pickup trucks in great condition. Tons of clean Southern trucks show up here. In fact, Carlisle Auctions is famous for their All-Truck Hour where they sell nothing but high quality pickup trucks. You’ll find pre-owned pickups such as this 1993 Ford F-250 Diesel 4X4 set up for some Off-Road adventure. It has the 7.3L non-Turbo motor with power options and cold air conditioning. Notice the 4″ Rough Country lift kit, and it has the shocks and brakes all around to support its off road capabilities.

Click here to review more of the inventory at the Spring Carlisle Auction next month.

Price Reduced

1971 Plymouth GTX

Here is a 1971 Plymouth GTX which was just given a price shave this week. This is a real V code 440 6 Pack car. They only made 135 of them. To add to that, in the description it says this car only has 39k miles and comes with an original broadcast sheet. The private party seller from Washington state had originally listed it at a selling price of $115,000. But just yesterday he lowered the price to $100,000. He seems to be reasonable so you might want to make him an offer.

Muscle Car Clones

1968 Yenko Nova

Coming out of sunny rust-free Arizona, this red 1968 Yenko Nova look-alike is a tribute to the race ready cars that came out of Yenko Chevrolet in the late 1960’s. It comes with a big block 396 ci V8 and dual Holley 4-bbl’s on an aluminum intake, and a 4-speed. The best part about this cherry red Yenko tribute is the price. You don’t see recreations in this price range very often.

The following are more recently listed Muscle Car Clones:

1967 Mustang GT500, No Reserve Classics, NJ, nice Shelby tribute

1969 Chevelle Malibu, MGM Classic Cars, IL, all SS items

1970 Chevelle, Streetside Classics, TN, SS 454 tribute

Deals of the Day

1927 Ford T-Bucket

An unfortunate family emergency has motivated this private party seller to drop the price on their 1927 Ford T-Bucket this week. They say it has a good California registration and title which means it is a real 1927, not a kit. You can see the tunnel ram in the photos, feeding the V8 engine with zoomie style headers. The seller says it has been tastefully restored, not a rat bucket. It is said to have 834 miles on the rebuild. It even has a Bluetooth system and a trunk safe. They say they want to sell quickly, so you should make them an offer. But hurry! It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. The asking price is only $15,000.

1949 Ford F1

A real neat 1949 Ford F1 Pickup has been listed in our Trucks Section this week. It is being offered for sale by Cody’s Classic Cars in Stanley, Wisconsin. They specialize in classic cars and trucks that are a discount to the market. This one is an older restoration that runs and drives well. It has the Flathead 8 with a 3-speed manual transmission. It creates that nice Flathead rumble because of the dual exhaust when it runs. The front fenders are fiberglass. And it has a custom wood bed. But the best part is the price. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. The asking price is $14,900.

1974 Alfa Romeo 2000

Beverly Hills Car Club has really shown up this week with a lot of great deals on imported sports cars. Here is a 1974 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider Veloce, the iconic Alfa spider two seater Italian sports car enthusiasts love. They say this one has the fuel-injected four cylinder motor hooked to a manual transmission, with four-wheel disc brakes, and Jaeger instruments. It is blue with a black convertible top and black interior. Check dozens of detailed photos at the link. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. Their price: $11,750

1989 Ford Bronco

You know how hot full size Broncos are in the collector car market right now. A 1989 Ford Bronco was just listed by a private party seller in Arizona. They say it has low original miles with under 100k showing on the odometer. It has the 5.0 V8 engine which is original to this vehicle. For off-road street credit it has the 4X4 axles with All Terrain Pathfinder tires. It is a classic, and hard to find from this dry Arizona desert climate. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday. I think you will agree that this is a lotta’ truck for the money. They are asking $12,995.

1984 Camaro Berlinetta

In an attempt to add another leverl of comfort and luxury to the base Camaro, Chevrolet came out with the Camaro Berlinetta edition. This 1984 version was posted for sale by Midwest Car Exchange in Alsip, Illinois. Road & Track Magazine selected the 1984 Camaro Berlinetta as one of the Twelve Best Cars In The World that year. It has all the power options, removable roof panels and what they call a “roof consolette.” Check the photos to review how the interior is set up. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Wednesday. The asking price is $14,900.

1991 Jaguar XJS V-12 Convertible

This is a car you should check out. Beverly Hills Car Club tells us it is a mechanically sound 1991 Jaguar XJS V-12 Convertible with Oyster paint and a Magnolia interior. It has an automatic transmission, V-12 engine, front wheel disc brakes, dual exhaust outlets, soft top with boot cover, rear quarter windows and aluminum door sill plates. It comes with the driver’s handbook and service booklet with stamps. The fuel-injected XJS will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. Their asking price is $13,500.

2003 Mercedes-Benz SL500

Another offering from Beverly Hills Car Club is this black 2003 Mercedes-Benz SL500 with a Parchment interior. It comes with an automatic transmission, air conditioning, power mirrors, power steering, power windows, power front seats and cruise control. They say it only has 60k miles recorded on the odometer so it should have lots of life left in it. They say the soft top needs attention. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week. The asking price is only $11,750.

Often there are more cars that deserve to be in the DEAL of the DAY than we can schedule for our front page feature. Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for the DEAL of the DAY this week. Remember, you saw them here first:
